Warden rework

Hey guys.
I feel like I'm the only one who didn't like the changes made to Warden. People have been asking for an ice mage and istead of reworking skills they just changed a few passive and tied the class to an ice staff - a weapon that has passives made for tanking. And when that was announced people were happy. Really? You really have to have low expectations to be happy with that. Did that help Warden? No. How many Warden Damage Dealers have you seen in a trial group since those changes were introduced? They've become absolutely broken in pvp tho, people who play them are happy, the rest - not so much. Can we please have a proper rework of the class? Maybe not in the incoming DLC, it takes time, but hopefuly this year. The idea of a damage boost based on a weapon is just bad. I played with ice staff before those changes because it was fun, not necessary. And it's not like it's impossible to make Warden an ice mage without making them play Ice Staff. DK breath fire and shoot fire orbs, Sorc can turn into a tornado and his execute is a lightning strike. I don't mind that passive that increases damage of chilled status but I'd like to see changes. Right now it's better to use a damage over time ability as a spammable and class spammable as a dot. Crazy. We (people who read patch notes) saw that reworking skills is not impossible. We got a few nice changes to some skills. But while DK gets Major Berserk on demand (one skill and 10s buff) Warden is somewhere on the bottom of the class choice for a damage dealer in pve. Please ZOS, you can do better than this.

I made a discussion along similar lines. There were lots of helpful suggestions from some awesome players, but it still feels like the winter's embrace skill line just isn't thought out well. Damage is enhanced with an ice staff, but most of the skills seem only useful close up, i.e. for a tank. It is no coincidence the builds for frost warden seem more like animal summoners.

You aren't the only one. I normally play a bow/bow warden. Its been getting worse and worse over the years, and I am unhappy that I have to play a magden that uses a frost staff to make ANY decent damage.

I don't think too many people are happy with the ice staff passive. It's more like... compared to some other classes we aren't getting completely shafted.

A lot of us have been arguing that the ice staff buff should be built into the ice staff line, and not the Warden line. Playing how you want, with a system that's supposed to encourage any weapon style being viable, means that such a significant passive buff for a class that pushes players towards a specific weapon ends up feeling like a punishment for those of us that like our frost Wardens using one hand and shield or two handed weapons etc. It's not particularly good design for the stated goals of the game. It's just not straight-up awful either, which is why I think you don't see as much despair as Sorcs and Necros and Templars are seeing.
