ZOS, DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE YOU DID WITH MARKARTH!! Please add border gates!!!

Hello,

Back during Markarth's release, there was this strange decision made to not include the gate which allowed you to walk from Bangkorai to the Reach. After this was bugreported several times, ZOS eventually decided to add a cart as a compromise for the lack of this functional gate.

It's so great to be able to travel across an interconnected version of Tamriel, and it does wonders for roleplay and immersion. Please add border gates between Bal Foyen, Deshaan and the Telvanni Peninsula so we can keep the trend going! I loved how Blackwood had border gates to Shadowfen and Northern Elsweyr!

Essentially you can physically walk all the way from Valenwood to High Rock with the inclusion of these. We would like to be able to walk from Daggerfall to Necrom!!!! <3

I agree with the OP - this is a big deal for me as well.

ESO is built around geography, and little things like border crossings and geographical transition add a special layer of immersion. It is important that Tamriel feels connected.

Yes, this is a vital part of the chapter, don't forget to link it up to Bal Foyen and/or Deshaan. Without a gate linking Bangkorai and the Reach, the Daggerfall Covenant is still isolated from the rest of Tamriel. Don't do the same thing with Necrom
So the Dark Elves have weird alien architecture, where people live in mushroom towers and the shell of a giant crab, but the High Elves, the pinnacle of technology, the most magically advanced race in Tamriel, are still stuck in slightly pretty, fairly tall stone buildings? Not even a hint of a glass city? Are stainless glass windows really enough to claim that a city is made of glass?

Well, hopefully they thought that far ahead this time. The zones are self contained units and my guess is that unless someone points this out during an early planning meeting, this sort of stuff gets overlooked.

Exactly why I made this thread, to bring it to light before PTS drops :)

Completely agree! Some of us like traveling across Tamriel the old fashioned way sometimes :)

Very important! Its the first thing I look for, and the first thing I actively explore in a new zone.

Still waiting for a gate to Murkmire, and one between Dragonstar and The Reach, too!

I can't imagine why they would put this zone right next to Bal Foyen and Deshaan, as opposed to further up the peninsula, if they didn't want to connect it to at least one of those zones.

Also, they teased that Mel Adrys probably travelled there from Deshaan, so it would be funny if we couldn't.

Yeah, it would be great if there were gates connecting new chapter zone with basegame Dunmer zones.

They also need to connect Fargrave to Apocrypha. And Coldharbour which they still haven't done...

Yes, I sincerely hope there is not just one gate on the west side; connections to all the zones the peninsula touches is really important to me too!!!!

This is one of the best things mmos can offer; being able to ride the road between zones. It’s really magical to take a character from zone to zone, and I always prefer to enter the new zones as natural as possible without wayshrine tp the first trip there.

Yeah. Its clearly an important element to many people. Tamriel is *the main character* after all, and as this thread (and the many previous over the years) demonstrate, this is important to your players to get right.

If overlooking this sort of stuff is a systematic error, I hope ZOS will adapt their process to recognise this demand so that it wont be, going forward.

To be honest I wish there were no gates at all. Just the road with seemingly no loading, like in Skyrim or Oblivion.

Yes, it is a main character. It isn't as fleshed out as, say, Night City, and that is actually a problem with this game. There was so much room for them to have developed Tamriel and fleshed it out, but this game shoots for "Average" in so many ways. I am happy to say that they nailed it.

As for linking the zones. They could put a gate in Bal Foyen near the Dhalmora wayshrine. That is actually a logical and accessible spot if the zones connect.

Deshaan is a problem, though. It was not designed to have a high traffic road to the east, so any link would have to follow a water path. Not a problem for me, but it is clear that commerce and travel to the east follows the water route that leads to the sea east of Silent Mire.

While they are doing that, can we have border crossings labelled on the in-game map? They don’t even show unless you have a quest in the other zone. The boats do appear on the map, but the foot crossings don’t.

Agreed, it doesn't seem like this new zone can be linked up to Deshaan that well with the current layout. Maybe best to wait for Thornmarsh to have a zone that connects up to eastern Deshaan.

They can easily link it up. The gates between reapers march, Grahtwood and Northern Elsweyr don't align properly either.

That'd actually be pretty cool if they made it only accessible through a water path. It'd be pretty thematic for the region. I wouldn't mind if that's how they connected some Black Marsh regions as well.

This is actually very important to me so this best get adressed properly. Especially for my imperial character that identifies as a jester festival piggy princess in distress that roams all around Tamriel running away from her captors. If there's no gate she might get caught!!!!!
