The big key for me, is I got a build I enjoy (a heavy attack Sorcerer build) and then stopped being afraid of the harder content.

I've been on the edge of getting it for a week now. I recently decided that I want to finish collecting all the gear. I have 56 weapons left to complete. I fully expect my run tonight will be a perfect run as well.

For me once I knew what the mechanics are, VMA on normal, even when I first started trying it, was easy, except the Igneous Cistern I hate those stupid exploding mushrooms. I found the guide that @Alcast built to be the most helpful to figuring out the mechanics.

The Igneous Cistern was the level that I had the most problems with, the strategy I found that finally got me through it without a death was to have my ult ready to go at the beginning of the fight, and then hold it until just after the handlers show up. At the start of the fight, (saving the ultimate) pour as much as you can before the handlers show up, then when they show up, just quickly kill one of them. The boss will rage and I drop my Ultimate on the boss while standing in the dome of protection offered by the other handler, and continue attacking the boss. When I do it that way, the boss generally has less than 30% health by the time he is done raging, and that 30% goes really quick.

... wow I have ran that thing a lot.

My nemesis is still Arena 7 –"Vault of Umbrage" lol...
    Dat POISONS! XD
Just only because I get so confident and then? "You died" XD XD
I will lose my judgment and stop watching myself...
And then? Rest of arenas? Absolutely no problem...
    Really sorry for my english

I'm in the same boat. I could make the rest of the arena (unless I got stupid) without issue, and then when I get to that arena, I would find some way to blow up.

That's not legit then because you did it with an accessibility build

Good for you! Any build you use is valid. Over the years there have been many different ones that helped people, whether it's shields, great healing, reflect, pets, and even other HA builds, and all were valid( there are always some who will discount you unless you're running it starkers with no resources.) it's the knowledge and confidence you get that lets you step into even more areas that count. Good luck filling your sticker book!

Flawless conquerer is way more about mechs than damage totals. You got tank builds that have it. It was designed at time when high damage was like 30k. Back then, there were even sets that prevented you outright from dying. So if you messed up you literally had a get out of jail free card. They got rid of them specifically because tons of people used it for specifically no death runs and then didn't use them for literally anything else because they hit like noodles.

Any 2 bar build that does it now also has way more damage than when people first got it. It means nothing.

Despite all this information, flawless conquerer has long been viewed as the ultimate in solo achievements, even with VVH.

And do you know why? Because there's no such thing as a build that invalidates it. NONE of the builds allow someone who doesn't know how to do the mechanics correctly to get that achievement. Never has been and probably never will be the case.

Wear your new title with pride and confidence. You earned it.

Thank you both. You inspired the next title I am going to pursue. You also inspired a poem. So, to properly thank you both, I will share with you the poem I wrote. And in case, it is not clear, the next title I am going for is Emperor.
In some ways, I think becoming Emperor is a longer shot than when I first started pursuing Flawless Conqueror 5 years ago, but I don't care. And in fact, I care so little, and am committing so firmly that I am including my real name along with my poem, because I want my name attached to my work. I poured my heart into my poem. I pour my heart into all my poems.

I also need to thank everyone who voiced their support for me, because each of you played just as much of a role in me deciding to face my next demon.
Thank you @spartaxoxo for your wonderfully kind words.
Thank you @Hyperdeathstalker not only will I ignore the haters, but I am also going to try something harder just because they were there.
Thank you @davidtk for your simple words of encouragement.
And thank you @Lumenn for being the first to speak up.
Each of you are why I love this community so much. Elder Scrolls games are the best.

Mood: Find the place where an undaunted peaceful conviction gives birth to hope
    Facing Demons

    Six years ago
    I started playing a game
    And found myself in Oblivion
Facing a demon I was powerless to conquer
It had possessed a thing called a Deadra
But the demon I faced was no mear string of ones and zeros
My character died a dozen times
Trying to face this demon possessed Deadra
And each time I went to press the button to resurrect my character
I felt again the pain of so many voices
Who spent years trying to tear me down
Trying again to convince me I'm a loser
Trying to make me believe I'm worthless

I still remember the many nights
    Crying myself to sleep
    Pondering the question
What kind of party would they throw if I died?

    I'd faced that demon before
even helped others face their own
I won't let it ruin my favorite game
And I certainly won't let it rule my life
    So instead of running away
    I asked for help
Facing a boss the story in Coldharbour took me to

And while I deleted the character I spent so much time with
The friend who came to my aid
    Helped me with much more
than simply killing a lowly overland story boss
He reminded me that it's alright ask for help

    So I started a quest
    To get a title
    Flawless Conqueror
Just to spite the demon who tried to stop me

I've grown a lot since that first character
    went through many builds
    conquered the demon
who possessed the lowly boss I faced
    along with many more demons

I no longer feel the pain
That left me crying myself to sleep
    over so many nights
    So many years ago

And as I look at the simple title I've finally earned
    A title I sought
    Simply to spite the demon
who tried to drive me from my favorite game
    Flawless Conqueror
    Now stands as a testimony
Of just how far I've come
    Flawless Conqueror
stands as one of the first outward signs
    Of something I feel
    Deep within my heart
    I am a success

    I am a success
    And I want more
    Much more
    Yes
    I have conquered many demons
Perhaps even more than my characters have faced
In six years of playing a game filled with them

I think I'll go face another demon
    Using again a game
Which is part of a series
I've spent half my life with
    Seeking yet another title
    Emperor

    And to those whose cries
Echo the voice of next demon I shall slay
    I say to you
the same thing I say to the demon
The demon I shall slay in my new quest
    Give up now
    For you will lose

I don't know how long it will take
    And I don't care
    You will lose

    Yes I will struggle
And I will likely cry as I repeatedly fall
    But I'll get back up
And I will learn from each fall
    Enabling me to win
So give me all you have
All you can throw at me
I'll turn it all into lessons
    That will let me win
For I will resculpt my reality
To match the person I feel within my heart
    A person I've already spent 25 years
    Bringing into the world
A journey just five years longer than I've spent in Tamriel

I think 20 years in Tamriel
is more than worth the effort to become Emperor

I hope you're ready to lose
    Because I will win

First of all, congratulations! It is a big accomplishment, even many years after it's initial release :) My first vMA clear was something around 14 hours or some crazy amount of time, and that was after many completely failed attempts. I now clear vMA in around 30 minutes. All it takes is practice and perseverance; which you clearly have displayed. I sincerely hope you enjoyed every agonizing minute leading up to this accomplishment!

As for a couple others... I cant say what I would like to say to you because it would swiftly be snipped, and I would likely be banned :) I will leave it with some good ol' advice I am sure everyone here has heard before. Work smarter, not harder.

Thank you @Diminish I did enjoy the effort. I like pushing myself. That is why I chose to face the demons I have and why I have chosen to face the next demon, the one that is still sitting in the deepest recesses of my heart trying to say I will never be good at PVP. So, to shut that demon up, and in honor of those who tried to diminish my achievement, I will try something harder.
