New Life Festival - it was the first ESO event I participated in, and I enjoyed it :)

I'd ignored previous events, I don't know why, but I really got into this one. :)
- I collected the tickets, got the soulfire dragon illusion,
- then collected more tickets and got the quasigriff mount,
- then collected more tickets and reassembled the dragon.
- I tried to fill a charity writ, but gave up partway through, because at the time I was still leveling up crafting (which I only started for the first time 2.5 weeks ago, even though I've been playing ESO for about 2.75 years now).
- I enjoyed collecting some of the mementos. One of them I didn't get, but was gifted yesterday by a generous fellow guild member, was the ghastly apparition. This thing's freaking hilarious, or perhaps I was just in a good mood. Here's a link to a short video I made of this one: https://youtu.be/E5sr3e7S9tY
- It was a bit hectic overall, because my daily routine consisted of several event quests (or at least, as many as I felt like doing each day), then the daily endeavours, then the daily crafting writs, which as I mentioned I'm still getting used to (and I had an ongoing struggle to find materials as I leveled up each crafting type to each level requiring new material qualities).

Anyway, overall, I enjoyed it. :)

I enjoyed such events for 2-3 years (play more than 4), then it lost the appeal.
Quests remain the same, there are just small addons now and then.

The second and third year are interesting because you realize that you missed several event achievements in the first year, e.g. doing the snowbear plunge without armor, which unlocks a bonfire as furniture. So now you can focus on those.

I just logged in this year to get the tickets (on 4 accounts), then played a different game, also because the rewards are uninteresting after playing such events for 2 years, as you know all the recipes etc. already.

Enjoy the first times. When I gave ESO a 2nd try late December years ago I totally did not know what the *** was going on at Skywatch when questing took me there. When I actually participated New Life next year it was fun. Too bad there is only one first.

Interesting... I'll have to check if I have that bonfire, because I did exactly that on the first snowbear plunge, unequipped everything before jumping in.

I don't have the bonfire and I've done the achievement on three accounts both PC megaservers. I wonder if it used to reward it but doesn't any longer?

Oh, I just looked on UESP - the achievement means you can buy the New Life Bonfire for 10k gold. Unfortunately, it doesn't say which vendor sells it.

Just wait until next year when the only difference with the New Year Festival is an additional style to farm that exact same unchanged content for… as the event has been the same since the very first time it came around years ago.

Events are supposed to be exciting, and get you doing things you enjoy with people; quests that have you go from point A to point B, then back to point A, are not exciting. The only thing to look forward to as a returning player are a new style page and a 100% XP boost, it gets pretty monotonous.

I believe it's the holiday furnishing vendor, there's one in the main city of each alliance. Possibly the other guy at the impresario sells them too

Huh. I didn't know about a holiday furnishing vendor! The things you still don't know after years! Thanks, I'll check that out!

FYI - if you have any leftover holiday fish, you can put them in a chest and use them for next year's quests.

…because you can count on that quest being exactly the same as it was, and has been for the last six or so events.

Im glad you enjoyed your first new life festival. It was my fifth so my enjoyment wasn’t as high as it’s been the same for 5 years but these events are focused more At new players really so I’m glad you enjoyed it

I really enjoyed my first one too, I found it amusing. Now I tend to just do one quest daily for the tickets, as I'm not overly excited by the reward boxes. I always enjoy events as it they bring people back and it feels more festive for a while.

Oh damn, I forgot about that. I tend to avoid the snowbear plunge, as the frost effect on the screen really stresses me out.

logging into 4 accounts to collect rewards like it's a job might be the reason why events have lost the appeal.

See, now, I really like the frost effect; it makes me nostalgic for survival mods in Skyrim. I like feeling like the stakes are a bit higher, even if they really aren't...
