What does the Truly Superb Glyph of Poison do?

I see for a weapon enchant it does 2534 poison damage...
Poison Potions do different things - drain stamina, reduce health recovery etc.
What does the Glyph do?

Also you can't use it with other poisons because then it gets nullified with poison equpped.

Help?

FYI - I tried the help section but is just showed up under Alchemist and that helpful poisons will restore health, but drain it from an opponent.

The poison glyph will deal poison damage whenever you deal damage with a weapon. It has a 4-second cooldown, meaning it will fire every 4 seconds as long as you are dealing damage with a weapon (light/heavy attacks or weapon abilities). If your weapon is infused then that cooldown gets reduced to 2 seconds. Each time the glyph deals damage it has a 20% chance to apply the "poison status" which gives the target a dot for 6 seconds.

    Thanks @ketsparrowhawk

I read this online: Poison (Poison Status Effect): Deals Poison Damage over 6 seconds (maybe it has change since publish)
My glyph says 2534 damage. Does that mean 2534 damange over 6 seconds?

No, it’s 2534 direct damage that applies the “Poisoned” status effect to your opponent, causing an additional slight damage over time.

As far as running a Poison Glyph, the glyph was invented before Poisons were even a system in the game, pre-Dark Brotherhood, and they never gave the glyph anything to stand out over running the new poisons, which are much more effective for accomplishing damage.

If your idea is to just poison your opponent traditionally; I would recommend double dot craftable poisons, like the free Crown Poisons we get all the time from the monthly calendar.

The damage value that you do see is the enchant itself, not the status effect; this one has a 4 second cooldown (applies to all direct damage glyphs, iirc), and has a 100% chance of firing on light/heavy or weapon skill.
Overall this means that enchants will give you more reliable burst since consumable poisons have their own application RNG whilst the enchant trigger is guaranteed even if the status effect aspect is still RNG.

Both consumable poisons (with a damage component) & enchants are able to trigger status effects on top of their base functionality.
The status effects are just more likely to trigger or refresh from enchants due to the odds (see upload) combined with higher frequency (due to lower cooldown of enchants compared to damaging consumables).

Unfortunately the specific damage from status effects is not included in any tooltip anywhere, it is a decent amount which is why many people run burning & poisoned enchants on their dual wields for these status effects. Scales with max stats and can crit (maybe even hybridized by now, maybe not). The only information the game gives us is that burning lasts 4 seconds and poisoned lasts 6 seconds. Some other status effects also have an instant damage component to it, but again, no tooltip values in-game. Unfortunately this means you'll have to test & track them to extrapolate the damage potency from each status effect. At this point in time, you may assume that the damage over time status effects deal more raw damage than those with only one tick of damage & additional debuff, so generally the scaling raw damage is used by DPS and the additional debuffs left to healers & tanks.

There is a difference between poison as a damage type, similar to the way fire is a damage type or physical is a damage type, and "poison" as a mechanic for applying alchemy-derived damage to an enemy. A poison glyph is really no different than a fire glyph or a shock glyph or something like that. Just pretend poison glyph is "green damage glyph" and flame glyph is "red damage glyph".

They should not have called alchemy-based damage "poisons". It is like if they called enchant-based damage "fires" instead of glyphs. They should have called alchemy-based damage "venoms" or something like that. The naming is unnecessarily confusing.

You can have an enchant-based glyph on a weapon. They come in lots of varieties. Some don't even do damage, but instead buff you or debuff the enemy.

You cannot have both an enchant-based glyph on a weapon and an alchemy-based poison on a weapon. If you have both, the weapon glyph will be deactivated and the alchemical poison will take precedence.

@Dagoth_Rac thanks for clearing that up for me!

I was hoping Poison did something different than just plain damage...

Alchemical poisons haven't always been in the game so before that people used poison damage glyphs. That's why it may feel underwhelming that this is all that poison damage glyphs do. You can still use poison damage glyphs but that'll yield slightly less damage than builds that you would be using alchemical poisons on. It will be cheaper on the up-keep however, so pick your poison hehe.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.
