The seasonal thing was getting dull.

If what they said is 100% accurate and they are indeed putting more focus into the chapter quality along with overall QOL, then I see no reason why anyone should be unhappy.

We shall have to wait and see what news january brings.

No. They completely gutted Templar for absolutely no reason. Templars were NOT close to the top of any class tier lists.
There are so many overpowered combinations available to other classes that have gone untouched, and allowed to just blow people away in PvP for years. Yet somehow Templars were in your crosshairs?

The entire across-the-board damage reduction update was marketed in a very strange way, calling it a way to "Close the gap between Vets and Beginners". I've yet to see any analytics or specific points on how beginners are benefiting from these changes. Content has just been made harder to complete at all skill levels. Lets just call it what it was: Pulling back power creep. Why the subterfuge? Most people already agreed that there was a bit too much power creep.

And now they announced that content for 2023 will be significantly less when compared to prior years, also further devaluing ESO+ with the fewer dungeons. When they already devoted a year in the past to stability improvements which turned out to be mostly smoke and mirrors (leaving ESO in a state worse than ever before), how are their words supposed to carry weight with anybody? i don't think they're changing up their release format in a way that's going to make me feel excited about the game again.

i actually liked their q4 new lands release. i'm least interested in having more dungeons. i think we have enough.

it's hard to get excited about a new zone with:
    - probably a boring story as usual
    - 6 delves, 6 wb, 2 pd, yada yada yada
    - a new trial (granted, i usually like this feature. but my fav trials are cloudrest and as, and they never release those kinds anymore)
    - a slew more motifs of designs that are meh but of course hard as f to obtain

they need to turn the game on its head at this point

i would say that if they did this, i'd be excited:
    - 1 or even 2 more classes. classes rock
    - a 3rd ability morph
    - i suppose another pair of companions (i bet they'll do that)
    - another playable race

there are things i've liked about every release, but they do get boring with the same ol, same ol release format

I have very low expectations. [snip]

Maybe it'll be a nice surprise but somehow I doubt that.

Ehm did someone change the question of the poll?
Wasn't the question "Are you afraid of the changes coming in 2023?"?
Because a no there is different than a no here in "Are you happy with the changes of 2023?"...?

Nope. Damage to the community is done and nothing theyve said sounds like itll entice those people back,Nothing ever happens in a timely fashion and people have lost patience with how out of touch the devs are.

Less content, bug fixes and a mystery system is what theyre selling to revitalize the game.. yknow what, whatever.

But the question remains, are you going to be playing ESO in 2023? If the answer is yes, then ESO has still won.

I am worried Q2 will hit, then I will be bored for the rest of the year.

There's going to be a lot of big AAA games coming out in 2033. Hopefully a few of them will be good enough to fill up some time ;)

I'm sure that they will wreck the game next year after 2022..

well, yes, afraid is actually a good word for it. they broke block and after 7 weeks it is still broken, after each "fix" it is broken in jet another way. so I am afraid what else will they break with all those fixes next year ...
the only thing I wish they break for good is the sorc pets in towns, accidently make them invisible, forever !

I'm happy with goals, because on paper they sound good - less mass production of one-time, often boring content (cartoony histories in boringly easy zones without even a tiny challenge) and less dungeons (with current number, two for a year is enough). Instead new features and system which gives more replayability? Yeah, that's sound good!

A big question is how good and how big will be content given us instead. I have really mixed feelings about this, but we will see. We should wait at least to January announcement to see what they have to say about whole plan.

I play predominantly for the story content but there is a lot and I think changing the focus makes sense. Im interested to know more about the new game system.

Were the poll answers swapped when the question was changed? If not the poll is invalid (even more so than forum polls usually are) because a lot of people's answers would be different.

The original question was "are you afraid of the changes?" which isn't a complete opposite, but it does mean a lot of the yes votes are people who aren't looking forward to the changes and a lot of no votes are people who are looking forward to it. Now it looks like the opposite.

That would completely flip the answer. I wondered why I was reading "afraid" in so many replies.

(Though too many people today equate disliking something, such as the ToT card game as being "afraid" of it, so that is another factor.)

My answer would be: How could I know? I haven't seen the 2023 changes since my time machine broke down last week....

OP did change it, it was "Are you afraid of the changes of 2023?" so, OP's poll is now invalid.

I'm happy with goals, because on paper they sound good - less mass production of one-time, often boring content (cartoony histories in boringly easy zones without even a tiny challenge)

I don't see it being a choice between boring cartoony quests and repeatable content - how about creating interesting, well-written quests instead?! Quests on the level of a good book or movie. I don't expect them to be on the same level with Sophocles, Shakespeare or Dostoevsky, of course; I don't expect them to write a second Arthurian Legend either, but I'm very sure that a better quality than what we got with High Isle is very well possible. I hate to say it, but High Isle often reminded me of these brainless cheap romance novels (cheap paper and print quality, mass market paperback), some women tend to read on the beach during vacation. There are no plot twists, no depth, everything is foreseeable, there's fanservice thrown in to make the consumer swoon, and of course there's cheaply written innuendo and sex of some kind.
Instead new features and system which gives more replayability? Yeah, that's sound good!

Daily crafting, current event quest, endeavors. If there's time left, crafting surveys, treasure maps, crafting master writs. If there's more time and I'm in the mood for it, some grinding for antiquity leads (furniture, sometimes some mythic item). That's my "routine" if there wasn't a new story chapter/dlc lately. And if I wanted, I could still run through group dungeons I can already navigate through in my sleep for dozens of times, or do all those repeatable daily zone quests (I don't, if it's not neccessary for an event, because doing the same thing and listening to the same old dialogue again and again bores me). Or, to put it shortly: There's already a lot of repeatable content and I'm not sure if new repeatable content would be more interesting.
