This game needs some new classes

Since I have been playing ESO no new classes have been brought into the game (I started when the necromancer class came out).

Anyone have any idea if new classes are in the works ? I feel like they need to add at least 4 new classes. There would be no point of adding just one class that the entire community would use.at the same time.

I'd rather see new weapons added, and the current classes balanced.

Since the weapons determine the archetypes of your class to an extent, a few new weapon lines could vastly diversify what we see people use.

    Yep, pretty much this.

ESO's classes all play very similarly anyway, especially compared to other MMOs where each class typically has completely unique gameplay mechanics and resources. TES is strongest when it's classless imo, encouraging you to create your own personal combination of skills, magic, and weaponry. ESO tries to tread a line between both of those, but I feel like it's best when it leans more into "create your own playstyle", which new weapon and world skill lines allows for.

Or in simpler terms, a new class only benefits the players who choose to use that class. A new weapon/world skill line provides new gameplay options for all existing classes and players.

No it doesn't. It doesn't need another new class that will play the exact same as every other class. Race maybe, class not at all.

Give us monk! Give us monk!

Would be cool to have a monk class that has its own unique system like Necro. Was thinking of a tank who is able to taunt multiple enemies and debuffing them at once.

A DPS class that is rewarded with more damage by comboing their class skills together.

And a healer who providers stronger heals and longer buffs by holding ultimate resources.

I'm thinking any new class would be redundant in every way but cosmetics. The skills would work the same as what exists now but would have a different name and animation.

Don't forget color scheme~~ I've personally been dying to play a nice light blue aesthetic class (I'm kidding, I want weapons and reworked staffs).

I enjoy leveling new characters and take them through all the content, new class would be one of the best addition new chapter could bring to incentivize me to play more. Extra skill lines are kind of meh. They’re either too op so you have to grind for it on every old character or too niche you’d barely have use for them. Another psijic grind would be rather annoying than fun.

    Bingo.

If ZoS has chosen not to have significant differences between classes, why introduce new ones?

Personally, I'd rather see an unarmed skill line along with some other weapons. I want to resurrect my Argonian monk from my Morrowind/Oblivion days. Monks' fighting style in TES was less kung fu attacks and more just along the line of fisticuffs and alternation mitigating the damage you received.

Well, a new class would be a balance nightmare for at least a year. Imagine U38-U41 to be like U35, or worse. Sheesh.

    No, thank you.
If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

Like I said before (in previous “want new class” threads): I don’t want to start new game just to get access to the new feature. New skill line seems more fair.

does the game need a new class? GOOD GRIEF DOES IT EVER

i swear, all these silly things they give us. mythics (ok not so silly, but whatever), the card game (beyond silly).

just give us a new class.

    or give us two.

and give us a 3rd morph per skill while you're at it. don't waste time on the silly

I think they would be more likely to add one at a time rather than multiple due to the resources involved in developing and implementing the animations coupled with the limited supply of remaining Elder Scrolls related abilities.

As for if they are doing it at all, I think that depends on what audience they are trying to appeal to with the next updates.

You'll notice from the responses new classes don't really appeal much to the players that are primarily slanted towards playing a single character or to players that heavily min-max.

Meanwhile players that are less interested in completely min-maxing and those that run multiple characters are more interested provided they have char slots free/think zos will expand them.

One of the missed opportunities I wish ZOS would explore is to make the world part of character creation.

For example, you have to choose whether to (at one time) be a vampire or a werewolf, should you wish to explore those at all.

What if the same was true for fighters guild vs mages guild?

This could be done in layers. Each defining archetypal characteristics. Mages vs fighters could define stamina vs magicka focus.

Suppose you could go for thieves guild secondary to those; ending up with a magic or stamina focused thief. Perhaps undaunted could be for tanking. Etc.

And then you have the daedra. What if association with them could define skill trees and similar. And all of the above with questlines. Even Molag Bal should have one, because like it or not, the Vestige lost it's soul to Molag Bal at one point and that track could have been explored. This could be the path to the necromancer class for example.

You pick a race and your looks, then enter the world. The rest is up to what you do.

Class could be something like this. A story you engage with and earn something meaninfgul. Something you can alter in-game later on, as with vampirism vs werewolf.

I wouldn't mind new classes if they added class change tokens. With hybridization, the purpose for having 2 of each dps class was ruined. I have a lot of characters I spent time on that will never get used now. It would be a real shame to delete them.

You know that you don't have to do EVERYTHING on a new character, right? I created a Warden a week ago and he's 100% finished and ready for vet HM content. With the coming double XP I might create a Necro as well and can probably have that character ready in 3-4 days tops.

These days it's really easy to level a new alt class with minimal questing, so it won't be a concern like back in the day.

I could be wrong; but I think their talking from the perspective of someone who likes doing all the quests, getting all the recipes/styles, and doesn't like parts of the game feeling not completed even on alt characters (the woes of a completionist). I know I'm that way and it's definitely a reason why I don't play a lot of characters. In ESO, I've stuck to one character for years. I've tried making alts.... I can never stick with one because of my unwillingness to learn and complete everything on them again, but I will say the biggest reason is def just because ESO classes are pretty "meh" at best.
And for people who say "you don't have to do everything"; yeah, I know.... but try telling that to this little thing inside my head that says I must. It doesn't listen.

There's lots to do in ESO. No way one character should do it all. You need good alts to do the things your dark brotherhood alts wouldn't do.

Look at it from the hard-nosed (cynical) business view...

Suppose they introduce a new class. Then how do they measure success? By the number of people who buy the chapter and make use of the class. Not the people who will always buy the chapters just because they want new content (like me). They have already banked our cheques.

They want to persuade people to buy the chapter, and a new class is one way to do that, but to sweeten the deal they make the new class op, so people want to buy the class, and those chasing the meta need to buy the class.

They might even take a skill from another class and improve it, while nerfing the original (DK's class defining wings becomes the warden's shimmering).

Then there follows a couple of years of adjustments to try to balance the classes, and every one gets upset.
