Putting books on tables?
Is their any way to rake a book from my backpack, like the list of player housing, for instance. And put it on a table?

There are the readable lore books you can buy from the Mages guild. It's not REALLY the same, but it's something. Also, Isobel and Ember (from their quests) do give a letter that can be placed in a home and interacted with. ✭✭There are a number of books you get from playing the game, looting and furniture packs. While they may not be the title you want, they can give you book clutter.
I use the Pelinal books from the event formerly known as Midyear Mayhem for that purpose.
There is also that stack of books furnishing plan from High Isle you can craft up now.
