Holiday Decorating

Would it kill game devs to decorate for the holidays? Like.. throw some garland around the inns, maybe a tree or two here and there, wreaths... Not just for Christmas but the other holidays too.

For some festivals iirc they have dressed up NPCs in coordinated colours, the NPCs in Daggerfall come to mind during the Jester's Festival, but I agree with you that it would be great to get some festive cheer in the capital cities across Tamriel during the holidays.

Some trees and some lights that only appear during this season would be awesome, def something the devs could do the coming years 🎄

I'd love it if they did that. It makes sense not to have decorations in most places for the Witches Festival because it's not something the majority of people in Tamriel celebrate (at least not openly) but a lot of other holidays are celebrated, especially New Life which is fairly universal.

They have started adding decorations to the areas where the quest givers are found for some festivals, like the little stage for the Jester's Festival and the participating NPCs in traditional colours, but it would be nice to see it done more widely.

You must be new It's Called New Life in Tamriel. You can get christmas trees, wreaths, garlands and other decorations right now for it.

Would be lovely if at least a couple capital cities got in the holiday spirit.

I mean they already celebrate new life festival. ZOS use the same themes as we do irl for the events that correspond to Easter and Halloween (eggs and pumpkins/skulls respectively), so I don't see why they couldn't put up some festive lights in towns and stuff. Would look really nice!

As someone who despises Christmas, hell no!
It's bad enough getting that crap shoved down my throat in the real world, I don't want it in the game I play too. (also there are more people on Earth don't celebrate Christmas than do, so some consideration to them would be nice too).

I'd love some christmas decorations too! I don't have a place to decorate, and I am quite sick so I don't get out, and escaping to Tamriel and getting a little bit of christmas spirit would be lovely for me

The issue with this is that the decorations are client-side - see how the Jester's tents, the New Life tent, the anniversary barge, etc. are up all year round. It's just only staffed on those specific holidays.

If we got that, it might need a patch just before the event starts ("omg ZOS Y U make a patch the day of the event, now I can't get tickets!") and one right as it ends to clear the decorations ("omg ZOS Y U patch at the end of the event, now I can't get my tickets this day!")

It's more appropriate to see Tamriel-specific holiday decorations, ones that don't coincide with real-world holidays. Players can already dress festively, the crown store has sales on seasonal things, I believe that they should be working on world-building and filling the empty space between our real-world holidays with new things. I believe they have talented writers that can work with the loremasters to do this.
