2500 gems for new bear mount

Do the math. That is excess of $500 real money to get the new bear mount with gems. If you assume 100 gems/15 crown crates, which is about average, to get 2500 gems you would have to buy 25 batches of 15 crown crates at 5000 crowns per batch. 21,500 crowns costs $150 US dollars, not on sale.

This is some serious price creep in the crown store ZOS. How can this possibly be justified?

Should be glad they added gems and endeavors. At 25 batches of 15 crates which is 375 crates, you might get it before opening all, lol. You might get high gems from any repeat mounts, costumes, outfits, etc,so will probably take less boxes. Also, you get other stuff from crates,it's like saying you only like the apples out of a 500$ gift basket,so the apple cost 500$,gotta adjust for the price, hehe.

It's weird that it's more than double the price of one of the other radiant apex mounts. I don't normally look at radiant apex mounts in that much detail so I'm not sure what they usually cost, but it seems like they should be roughly the same. Especially since they cost the same amount of seals.

Personally I never consider the radiant apex mounts worth trying for, but it's odd that they made just one even more expensive.

If you are only getting 100 gems from 15 crates you might be the unluckiest person in Tamriel. With 15 I get over 200 normally and gotten over 400 before.

This is pretty standard. There are normally 2 at like 1200 gems, and then one at 2500.

My question is why is it the same cost in seals of endeavor as the Harvestleaf Lynx despite the Lynx being 1600 gems versus 2500? The same can be questioned about the Oldefire Elk which is also 16000 seals despite being 1200 gems. Why are all three the same cost in seals yet there is a 1300 gem difference between the Elk and the Ursauk?

And the funny thing is, the best and/or most popular mount isn't always the highest gem cost.

Who sets these gem prices? One dev? A team? Do they vote?

Everything has became more expensive since the seals got introduced, gem prices increased while gem yield decreased. There's no way they'd introduce something impacting their revenue without making up for it down the line. Besides the increase, there's also the bad monetization system of putting things behind layers of currency, and the currency is dependent on RNG. They would never get away with listing a bear mount for 500USD, but selling it for gems takes care of it.

yeah the pricing in this game is astoundingly disgusting. I refuse to support the crown crate + gem system either by buying the crates myself or by using in game gold to get them from another player. Not that it'd make a difference unless most players did this, but it has to start with someone.

I would've bought so many things over the years if they could've been bought directly* which is a shame because I love making characters and customizing them.

i just save endeavors for anything that looks interesting lol, since you can buy anything that costs gems with the endeavors

i refuse to buy crates, which in turn means i get no gems (and i dont have a twitch acct for twitch drops either)

    This is not anything new.

It's pretty standard for the radiant mounts since they got added to be purchased with gems. One goes for 1,200, second goes for 1,600, and the third 2,500. The prices are supposedly related to the drop rate of the mounts. Though that leaves the question why they vary in the first place and how they decide these things.

I'm sure they have highly paid number crunchers that do the math on pricing to maximize profit and all...

But it's just such a bad experience. That price creates an exclusivity for sure, which in turn creates demand. But only the wealthy players or very lucky players will ever get the mount.

I really wish they'd go to more of a Fortnite-type model (even though I know they won't). Everything can be purchased with in-game currency or straight cash, and items rotate frequently.

In the current model, I am guessing 1-5% (ish) of players will actually be able to grab that expensive mount by spending lots of money or getting lucky.

But now let's say they made that mount 2000-3000 Crowns, somewhere in there. Or more generally, let's say they aimed for a price point that would let a lot of players buy it but still maintain some exclusivity (let's say... 30% of players or so). 30% of players buying a more affordable item versus 1-5% of players getting a more expensive item.

Surely some bean counter could make the math work in favor of the majority and the company, so that players and ZoS could both win. More players could buy a thing and ZoS could get more money overall.

As someone who got the Ayleid Courser for 1600 gems, never again. Astounding amount of money for an in-game mount, even one that sparkles when you press the space bar.

Probably one of my biggest regrets.

I went heavy on the halloween crates, and never again. Nothing more demoralizing than getting things you don't care about over and over again, while never getting the thing you were aiming for... and still coming far shy with the crate coins to outright buy the thing you want. And if you do spend tons to get the sparkly thing you wanted, you're generally just disgusted with yourself a month later.

How many people have been dis-incentivized from partaking in crates because they have some small impulse control against gambling and/or got burnt and now don't participate at all?

I would like to have one of the radiant ones, but yeah... [snip]

So I just used my ESO+ crowns for crates and that's it.

They could sell so much if the pricing was normal. I'd buy the poop out off the crates and houses. I'd legit want to own every house in the game, but yeah look at the amount of crowns they cost...

It's a bear mount. Given the way those are ridden, this mount isn't worth a single Essence of Magicka - if these could ever be used as a kind of currency to buy utter trash.

I get several 15x crates every crown season and have never gotten a radiant apex mount. This mount is the reason why you do your crown seal dailies.

its better to have a long term set goal and get that with seals of endeavors. I myself is sitting at 11k seals of endeavors and im after the Cursebound Senche-raht dark fang mount from the nightfall crate and that crate will probly release late next year or 2024.

it takes 8 months to get 16k seals of endeavors and so it works out for me.

For me it's not so much the time you have to wait to gather 16k seals, because of course they wouldn't make it fast, but the fact that the rotation of crate seasons has no schedule/pattern, so you either spend your seals and when your dream mount comes around you still can't get it, or you sit on your seals for ages and ages.
