Destructive Clench Range should be 22m like other range stuns

Why is the skill 15m but draining shot and javelin are both 22m?

    Because it is an afterthought of old skill variant. Also Draining Shot is not a stun and Javelin is a class skill, and class skills are or should be generally better than their universal counterpart.
    In the past Flame knockback, Lightning stunned and Frost immobilize. Clench added extra effects, Flame dot, Lighting splash and Frost snared I think. Reach just increased the range of base effect. Effects were swapped in the 'dot meta' patch and added base damage over time to all Reach morphs and base skill. Then the taunt from frost heavy was moved to frost clench and it stayed.
    This skill could use some flavour like they did with Frost Reach and Clench but nowadays all classes have some sort of stun in one form or another it could use some other effect. This skill does too little damage or utility to justify its cost other than Frost version that can do some solid damage.

    Received a heavy nerf because a couple years ago, magicka players slotted it as a pseudo ranged spammable/stun in PvP back when the Master inferno staff made the skill 30% cheaper and added a flat 2k damage to it.
    So Fire clench lost its range (used to be 22m iirc), Fire reach lost its stun because it used to stun and the Master staff now gives 600 spell and weapon damage instead.

    It lost its range because you could knock back/down players off keep walls from the ground floor with it, it then lost a lot of damage due it being so strong with the master's staves.

    Too bad it never got anything back to compensate for this outside of the frost morph which got a lot of damage added back as well as a bunch of secondary effects.

    Yes, I would love to use Shock Clench as a spammable but the range restriction really kills the skill.

    ESO would be so much better if the combat team spent their time focusing on topics like improving unused skills rather than re-balancing the entire game every patch.

    Draning Shot doesn't stun, but its counterpart, Magnum Shot, does. We are talking about Scatter Shot skill here and yes, it is inconsistent in comparison to Flame Clench, since both skills do the same thing.

    draining shot USED to stun, but because the heal was tied to the stun it was pretty useless overall especially against enemies immune to stun

    so the heal is now guaranteed and the stun removed

    magnum shot itself got some changes over time too, it does not knock the user back too, and does more dmg than draining shot since it lacks the heal

    crushing 42m
    Impale 22m (now 42)
    Range stun 15m if staff or 22m if bow

    Gap closers are still 22m

    - Flame Clench also knocks the enemy back.
    - Frost Clench deals less damage, has increased range, applies Major Maim, immobilizes, and taunts the enemy.
    - Shock Clench converts the attack into an area of effect explosion.

    Magnum Shot:
    Target: Enemy
    Range: 22m
    Cost: 3510

    - Blast an enemy with an explosive arrow, dealing 1727 Physical Damage.
    - Knocks enemy back.

    So, it seems like Destructive Clench is better & more universal skill. "On paper" it has 3 effects - Deals damage, 100% chance to apply status effect + 1 additional effect depending on staff you have equipped. Magnum Shot on the other hand has 2 effects - Deals damage and knocks enemy back. It is also more expensive, but deals more damage.

    Destructive Clench also seem to have increased range with With Frost staff, as the tooltip says it, so I would imagine if you have Frost staff, it should have 22 meters.

    The changes to Destructive Clench were most likely PVP related. Flame Clench was knocking people off the tops of keeps. The same with Magnum Shot. The new Scribing Destro Staff abilities have knock-back (12meters) attached to a 28meter range. (I'm not sure if it will be allowed in Cyrodiil, though)

    Frost Clench has an increased range of 28meters so that PVE tanks can taunt enemies from range. The 28meter range still applies in Cyrodiil- but it can't knock people off keeps. It just immobilizes them. The decreased damage (almost half) is the penalty you pay for increased range and immobilization, though.
    Want to enjoy the game more? Try both PvP (crybabies) and PvE (carebears). You'll get a better perspective on everyone's opinion.
