classes and play styles breakdown...
I'm making this for myself and others to possibly determining how the game is typically being played and whether or not other playstyles should be buffed in some way..
the topic is character build archetypes and their viability within the entirety of eso..
Currently in eso the need to hybridize the game has more or less made magick practically impossible to play without casting...
i get there it is arguable about what is considered a magick or stamina based ability as skills like nox breath or fire whip morph cost magicka.. some healing skills like dragoknight one, vigor, and greatsword one are fine as they seem to actually cost stamina to use...
the point is i feel like magick only characters are easier to create than stamina only characters..
id personally like to see builds using less obvious magickal class based skills for those who only want to use magical items..
some archetypes..
dual weilding thief or trapper
trapper/ranger
the strong pot chugging endless endurance brawlers or tanks
more i havent thought of please share your own thoughts...
on the topic of some of the stamina skills obviously using an element of magick i present you a different idea... what if instead of separating damage types into the two categories magickal and martial, they instead made each damage type essentially usefull in both magickal and martial ways...
some examples being that you could cast poison spells instead of making every poison based skill in the game a stamina based skill... so a dragonknight mage would be able to cast nox breath more times and stam dk could cast it less. in this case the stam dk might prefer a skill like acid spray as it could be cast more often by stam builds...
becoming a hybrid build should be done two different ways in my opinion
martial weapon users may give up a small amount of martial damage to spec into a damage type and by doing so may cast spells with greater effectiveness and better utilize that type of damage..
mages should focus on dealing magic damage if they can and use their affinity for magic to excel in two damage types..
stuff like this is easier said then done but i think it is at least worth giving some thought to...
that being said there can be explosive based bow skills that deal martial explosive damage scaling with stam and apply a flame dot that would be buffed by or scaling skill in fire magik (so hybrid skill essentially could be used either way or both. so maybe youd see spellbows using enchanted bows and their skills to deal some consistent damage over time as well as dealing good direct damage)
TLDR.
hybrid is the only way people play the game and is typically so much better than non hybrids visually and practically..
dont delete hybrids but make non hybrids do-able.
