What brought you to ESO?

    (Picked the wrong option, whoops)

Started Bethesda games with Fallout 3, then found Oblivion. Obsessed over both, Skyrim came out. Finally went back and played Morrowind. Since 2010 I’d been playing WoW a ton too and when I heard there’d be an elder scrolls mmo I got hyped.

Got into the ESO beta in January of 2014 and loved it immediately. Played on launch and have had an almost-continuous subscription since then bar three days when my bank thought I got hacked while paying the 6 month sub in Elsweyr. I have the old Senche loyalty reward, not that it stands out much these days.

Almost quit when I hit Shadowfen on my dominion character. WoW had kinda conditioned me into faction loyalty and this was basically a forced questline (Back in the Veteran Rank pre-dlc days there weren’t many ways to level and I couldn’t abandon Cadwell’s gold) where my dominion templar had to kill members of the dominion. It didn’t help that I find Argonian lore/themes incredibly boring and my build was utter trash. Eventually I pushed through tho.

ESO’s never quite been my main MMO (It’s still WoW despite many attempts to quit), but i’ve played consistently for eight years and counting. That could change if we ever get actual roleplaying servers. I really hate Megaservers. And housing.

I like the TES games, but I wouldn't even say they're my favorite RPG series haha I just usually try out every MMO that even remotely catches my eye and ESO was one of them. It was a terrible experience though and I stopped playing within two weeks. Some years later when I decided to take a long break from WoW, what made me decide to try ESO again was finding out it added battlegrounds. What ended up keeping me around was how much I enjoyed the combat in PVP and housing. For about four solid years ESO was my main game.... but honestly I've been a little burnt out for two of those years (started with the Greymoor proc set meta). Now I haven't actively played since they announced U35. It's kind of sad haha

I played various TES games before, but honestly if there wasn't Cyro I'd dropped ESO right after the beta.

My gaming friends played it. I also played Skyrim before but never really got into it. I loved ESO, Dunmer, so I bought and played TESIII: Morrowind, and THAT game made me a TES fan. :)
Glory to you and your Dunmer House!

As I had always loved open world games, I absolutely loved Morrowind. Must have spend months and months of actual playtime in that game. At that time, Morrowind was one of the best games to exist.

Also tried Oblivion and Skyrim, but neither had the feelings about it which Morrowind gave me. Oblivion itself was fun, but WAY too short, so I didn't really enjoy that one. Skyrim was awesome, and I spend about a month or two in it. Before I got bored with it.

As a massive fan of endless things, naturally I became a fan of MMO's: Everquest 1 and 2, WoW, Rappelz, EVE, perfect world, conquer online, xenimus(hardcore PvP game, only if you can make it in this game I would consider you an actual PvPer! ), etc.... so I was bound to eventually end up in ESO. Which I did. All the previous games have lost their touch to me, and I ended up staying here. (Note: Also a huge fan of many other endless games: Pokemon, path of exile, diablo 2, etc)

But at the moment I love ESO most, and unless the developers screw something up majorly, I am here to stay!

Started TES with Arena at release, played every game in sequence, still playing Oblivion and Skyrim as well as ESO. It was time to play an MMO again after years away from WoW and RIFT.

It's a combination of several factors. I enjoy MMOs and I love the Elder Scrolls - particularly Oblivion and Skyrim, so when they announced an Elder Scrolls MMO I immediately pre-ordered the game, did the closed and open Beta and the rest is history.

I loved oblivion and skyrim. Even tho the gameplay is different in eso, i still enjoy to quest and to discover the world. From time to time you get great nostalgic flashbacks with nord ruins or the city of solitude for example.

I just hope they give me a nice (not too large) house in whiterun..

I chose "Fan of the series since the beginning". Although that isn't technically correct, I started with Morrowind and never played Arena or Daggerfall.
But I liked Morrowind a lot. My absolute favourite is Oblivion. And I still played Skyrim, although I was quite disappointed with it regarding stories, questing, and game mechanics.

I never wanted to play a MMO, but with no new single player Elder Scrolls in sight I decided to give ESO a try. And was pleasantly surprised how un-MMO-ey it is. ;) So here I am, still playing ESO since 2016. (And still waiting for the next single player TES.)

I happened to see a streamer playing it one evening on a free weekend several years back. I liked the look of it and decided that I'd try it for myself on the free weekend. Then I totally fell in love with the adorable bosmer character I made and the fact that I could have him be a thief/pick locks. I decided to get the game after that, and I've been playing ever since!

I can't say I had any prior knowledge of the Elder Scrolls lore or anything, but I do have memories of seeing friends play Oblivion when one of them was showing off the PC he'd built back in...oh gods, it must have been when Oblivion was first released? Surprisingly enough I had never played skyrim, but I did consider doing so at one time purely for its modding capabilities. I wasn't actually into The Elder Scrolls as a series until playing ESO. (Truth be told, although I find the lore interesting and enjoy many things about the quests, the games, to me, are still largely a platform to tell my own stories through as I quest and do things in the game. It's fun for me to go on adventures playing as the characters I write about.)

Skyrim got me into the Elder Scrolls universe, and from there ESO was a pretty natural next step, especially since it had just done away with the mandatory subscription. I probably wouldn't have bothered if it had still required the ongoing financial commitment. So good job, gateway drugs.

I saw an E3 Trailer and checked it out and saw they were in beta, but when I checked it out I saw that this was an MMO so I had no desire to play it. I saw folks were begging to be included in the beta test so I sent an application in for the beta test as sort of a joke in which I stated I had no desire to play this game unless they could convince me otherwise. I had my Beta invite within a week. I also got in the first group of Full time private beta testers as well and I've more or less been here ever since.

So in short ZOS brought me to ESO.

My kid suggested I would really like it because I was always complaining about WoWs craft part of the game. He was sure this was more to my liking and he was right. Played Wow off and on for 10yrs. This is so much better in every aspect. Haven't looked back.

I've always found the notion of a game requiring constant internet connection to be abhorrent, but that's because I play mostly solo RTS. I had some fun with Warcraft 3 and felt tempted to try WoW, but the multiplayer aspect threw me off. By the same token, I'm a huge Star Wars fan (fond memories of George Lucas still owning the brand...) but I still couldn't bring myself to try TOR, despite having loved KOTOR 2.

Well, TES did something to me, because it was my love for Oblivion and Skyrim that got over my hesitation to try an online game (though I wouldn't have gotten ESO if Imperials weren't playable, as was reported at one time). The ability to visit all of Tamriel in the same game was too hard to pass. Naturally, I was absurdly clueless about MMOs in general and ESO in particular, so one of my first (if not the first) achievements was "Slaughtered", unlocked when I tried to swim from Davon's Watch to Vvardenfell (before the latter became a zone).

Now I can't leave, but I do wonder which will happen first: ESO fills Tamriel's map or TES6 is released.

Ok, so I have played this game on three platforms, PC, Xbox, and PS.

Initially, I was drawn to it as a fan of The Elder Scrolls series and got it on PC. I think I only got to like 22 or something like that. The world and IP have always been attractive, so it seemed natural to get into it.

Then it launched on Xbox and some real life friends wanted to get into it, so I got it. I leveled a templar to 330ish, completed Cadwells, and that was it.

My main gaming crew is on PlayStation, so I got it on there around Elsweyr and have stayed since.

It’s a comfort food game, I always feel like there’s stories to be had.

I'd played mostly first-person shooters and racing games on the original Xbox when I bought Morrowind on a whim after finding it in a discount bin at Walmart. I was hooked. Bought the Xbox 360 just so I could play Oblivion. Stood in line at Gamestop for the midnight release of Skyrim on 11/11/11. I play ESO because it's an Elder Scrolls game. Hope I live long enough to see TES VI.
