Not sure if this is a bug or if I am doing something wrong here. I have spent the last hour trying to find any thieves trove for the daily endeavour and when I looted it the daily endeavour didn't show as completed. Any ideas?
Did you loot everything or just partly ?
With treasure chests I'm sure it only registers as complete if you take out everything, so it could be the same for thieves troves.
Anyway, I did mine this morning and it went fine.
Endeavor or other tasks done not registering happens sometimes. Do it again. It can be faster to find another Trove than wait one to respawn. It's rare enough it's not as annoying as the ongoing epidemic of key presses not registering. But still annoying.
I opened one and there were only 2 items in it. I took the items but didn't get the endeavour either. I assume someone opened it and only took the good stuff.
Perhaps you looted one that had already been opened but left full. speculating

I spent some time trying to find one (no add-ons on console so I have to go by memory) but gave up after a half hour or so and did another Endeavor.
This is a terrible choice for an Endeavor and would be happy if it was removed and another one put in place. There are few of these troves in each zone and they seem to take forever to respawn.
Also, it sounds like partially looted troves might not count, so this is another case for making shared lootables, including chests and mat nodes, be loot all by default. No cherry-picking.

@MrGarlic - That is a good theory and I think you could be right. There were three items in the trove but I was also looting treasure chests in the area to try to find a specific set item piece (as well as gathering pieces for one of the other endeavours) and there were a number of opened but not entirely cleared chests in the area at the time I was there. Chances are that the same person took something out of the trove and left the rest too.
@katanagirl1 - If I had had the option I would have gone for one of the other endeavours too but yesterday the choices were terrible for my play style. The deconstruct and dungeon ones were okay but of the three remaining choices the thieves trove was the best option.
I haven't done PvP at all so the quest in the PvP area was a no-go on the basis that would probably take even more time, and the kill four citizens one I wanted to avoid as I have my settings fixed so I don't accidentally kill innocents (after I did it accidentally on my first day playing).
I don't usually do thieves troves ones either if there are other options but I am desperately trying to get enough coins for the fennec fox before it disappears next week and it is going to be a very close thing, if I manage it at all, and I can't afford to miss any daily endeavours if I can avoid it.
PS: I am on PC but don't have add-ons either. I was using an online map that shows the spawn points but even that wasn't helping much yesterday.
I don't PvP but I did the do damage with siege weapons weekly a while ago just to check it really is ludicrously fast and easy. It is. (Trebuchet enemy guards standing on a resource flag from far away.)
Now when I think of it, thieves trove contents depend of thieves guild rank of opener so it makes sense endeavor works for only the one who opens it first time. Like the lead drops from containers do.
The siege and repair ones don't require doing the Cyrodiil tutorial and have low chance of dying to another player.
Look up the volendrung spawn locations, pick the one in your alliances base near your scroll temples, and use the siege weapon there. Very low chance of pvp especially if you don't have a scroll. It's not 0 but I haven't once been killed there personally.
Keep repair go to a keep not under attack and repair. Very, very low chance of dying.
