PS5 Cyrodiil PVP Completely Unplayable

I am so tired of complaining, I gave up years ago but I have to say this now. I just came back after a year break because Cyrodiil pvp was completely unplayable. Unsurprisingly, Cyrodiil pvp is still completely and utterly unplayable. I would say that it's worse now than ever before, which makes no sense since I'm playing with the best setup I can for console.

Noteworthy pretenses: PS5, wired connection, fastest available internet 1.5g speed, all wi-fi's in home turned off, wired controller, best available ethernet cable, performance mode
(so don't tell me to "check my internet connection" zos)

Why I'm done:
- skills do not fire
- when pressing a skill, character seizures in place while I watch helplessly as character dies
- if lucky, skill will fire after 4-7 button presses, by which time I'm long dead or target is gone
- why would I bother logging in? for the same mounts to be reskinned 47 times?
- please for the love of god, make Cyrodiil pvp playable
- I can't imagine forfeiting 8 years of progress to switch to PC [snip]
- I don't have any hope for this left, I'm shouting into the void
- What the [snip]?
- Seriously though?

I feel for you and to be honest I doubt very much that it has anything at all to do with your Internet connection. I don't even think that it's Zos's crappy servers but more to do with the horrendous coding of the game combined with an outdated engine.

My good old ps4 still works. I play prime time Ps4 NA. The lag isn’t really that bad, only 2-3 second delays. My main problem is when the hammer comes out, I get blue screened. And sometimes invisible people here and there.

I play a necro 2h bomber and I can manage to hit my combo and pop the DC mega Zerg. Upgrading to a ps5 does not guarantee that your gaming experience will be better, also I’ve never seen so much yt videos about ps5 problems.

How many people have bought new cars only for that model to be recalled 6 months later for equipment malfunctions? Half of it is the manufacturers problem and half of it is a YOU problem for choosing the wrong investment lol.

I've bought every PS model the day of launch or soon there after. All those systems lasted well past the next model release. The later released version I bought afterward for my wife or daughter tend to have issues and were replaced under warranty where as my launch models have not had any issues. This goes back to PS1 days.

As for PS4 vs PS5 on ESO there is a difference in visual and performance; especially when the game is running its PS5 upgrade and is running in performance mode. Game runs smoother and has less lag or issues. The closest experience a PS4 player can get to a PS5 player is upgrading to a SSD and even than there is a slight difference.

I would like to state that the current bottleneck for ESO on consoles are the PS4 and the XBox One. Both are holding back ESO. I've already dealt with similar situation when the PS4 launched with DCUO where the PS3 held back DCUO. Same is now happening here with the PS4 and XBox One.

Awful take tbh, where is the "ME" problem in having every possible aspect of my setup maximized and in performance mode and still basically unable to use skills? Not even a good [snip] post. Game looks nicer, runs smoother, but this amounts to having a prettier view of the horizon on the Titanic. It's not to do with a "wrong investment" of mine - every single other game, whether PS4 or PS5, runs perfectly on my "wrong investment". THIS game is the ONLY one with these crippling performance issues.

This. I've said this numerous times in many different posts but it's not something on our end. It's not my internet, it's not my PS4, it's literally ESO's servers. Battlefield 4, DayZ, Several Call of Duty games, Apex legends, Fortnite, Rainbow Six...the list goes on and on for me, those games don't give me the issues that ESO's PvP servers do. There's no disconnects, players lagging & freezing all over the place, there's no glitching, certain skills or items not registering, they run fine with 0 issues, and it's not just a console problem, PC players are reporting it too, [snip]

Yepppp. I play ESO on pc and it actually has always run ridiculously worse compared to every other game I play. WoW, Albion Online, New World, GW2, Overwatch, LoL, HotS, RuneScape haha (think that's all the games I'm playing lately). All of these run like butter, but then I can get on ESO.... I'll get stutters, skills not firing, in general it feels clunky, loading screens in the middle of zones/cities, dc's to login screen (especially if I'm loading into an area), latency jumps up to red numbers as high as 999+ way too often, and honestly so much more. I'd never say my pc is perfect or my internet is the best, but there's seriously a night and day difference between every other game I play and ESO. Again, always has been.... but things have definitely gotten worse over the last year or two, not better (at least from my experience).

Agreed. My internet is definitely not the best but if my internet IS the problem, then why don't any of these other games I play give me the same issues that ESO does?

Zenimax has updated the servers and yet the issue is still present so it isn't really the server. Most console gamers I know run SSD and have the fastest possible internet. All of these updates should translate to better performance between the player and the server.

The biggest issue with ESO is the code. Devs even mentioned that is the underlining problem and they working on trying to resolve this issue. Problem is years of turnover and little to no changes on updating the base code has resulted in some very bad performance between the player and the game server.

As a former PS4 player who went from a standard HD to a SSD HD than to a PS4 Pro with a SSD and finally to a PS5, the PS5 does run ESO a bit better but even with its hardware updates the issue is still the baseline code and no matter how great the hardware and internet is, if there is underling issues with the base code the game will still run like crap.

I know some other games have to run a daily maintenance to clear out cache and ensure that the game can operate. I'm all for ESO doing maintenance more often if it would improve game play. I would be fine with maintenance every other day as long as the game automatically resets PVP zone so the keeps/points end up equally split amongst the fractions during its maintenance.

Exactly haha and you can say this to some people yet they'll still find some excuses to make for ESO. Like I don't know if they just don't play any other games.... but like I said, ESO has always felt rocky and unstable compared to pretty much all other games in the MMO genre (or even just online in general). It really has been like that since it first released, but things definitely seemed to tank in Greymoor. Again, in my experience (I won't assume for others in general, but I know some friends had the same experience) that's when the skills not firing issue became more apparent. The high latency thing has always been a problem. Same with dc's in loading screens, but that actually seemed to get better around the beginning of High Isle and instead infinite loading screens seemed more common.... especially just when first starting up the game. And for what is probably like the hundredth time of me saying this; other games are perfectly fine. It wouldn't even be an exaggeration to say that with most I have zero issues.
