New Player + Returning Player Questions

Summary: I am a returning player who is roughly 600 CP, all crafting maxed, main toon is Nightblade but plan on rolling a new toon to play with the New Player. Wondering if anyone has tips for us, plus I have a few questions.

1. Necromancer - Have wanted to try this class, wondering if it's any good for end game?

2. Recomendations for the new player, in regards to class and end game. No idea what their preferences are. Would love both to get both melee and ranged options.

3. Leveling - Not sure if we are even going to do the Main Quest, but right now, no DLC's, just the base game. I typically sub for the bag and crowns, but am poor right now, and won't be doing that for a while. What is a good way for us both to get to 50 fast?

4. Stopped playing about 2 years ago. Anything we should know about new functions, etc?

Many thanks for any answers you all can provide.

I've brought a person or two into the game before and I recommend not leveling too fast. The new person probably wants to experience certain things and honestly taking 2 or 3 weeks to understand ALL there is will help them greatly. Don't speed run because things are boring for you... It probably won't be boring for them. Also... Don't spend your CP until you're both level 50. It also helps the new person enjoy the game if they feel like they're making equal contributions to the team.

    Update: 11/14

We have now both subbed, and are going to do the main quest. Have told new player that we are not going to hurry, though I will be telling him how to start researching traits because he's a crafter who has no idea of the effort required to get to full crafting in ESO. I got 4 million gold and can craft most anything, so in that respect, we are golden.

I am playing a Dark Elf necromancer, he is playing a Breton Templar.

Also will be moving into some QOL things like Antiquities, Companions, the 30% mount speed increase passive, and later Psijic Portals. Plus Mage, Fighters and Undaunted factions, and maybe for him Thieves Guild.

I read a bunch of "wish I had known" things today, and nothing was new.

Since we have access to a bunch of the DLC's, any recommends for a fun overland zone or two? Last new zone I played all the way through was Summerset, which we will be doing anwaywas to get the Psijic Portals.

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic.

    Thank you for your understanding.

Summerset is one of the best DLC zones ever.

That said, High Rock has landscape art similar to Summerset's (but totally different architecture). Nice effort has been put into the writing of its NPCs. One of the companions you get there, Isobel Veloise, is in my opinion the most likeable of the four options. The characters you re-meet there aren't wrecked, once you get past Jakarn openly identifying as a thief rather than doing some kind of conman shtick. And they managed to correct one of their few big voice acting flubs, so High Rock's Breton women don't sound consistently insipid.

But don't choose it if you'd be bothered that several key characters are LGBTQ+, especially L and B.
