How can I rebind the target marker wheel without changing tab targeting?

You need to seperate these two functions. There can't be a single time when you accidentally press the button too long or the game thinks you pressed it too long and the marker wheel comes up.

The changes you made to quick wheels by adding more of them already sometimes lock you into the wheel while in combat and gets you killed. At least you can rebind the change page buttons.

Either immediately seperate these two functions or give an option to disable marker wheel completely.

Agreed. Terrible implementation. For those places where it's useful, it should probably be set up by the RAID lead and then locked in place for the remainder of the trial or Cyro group. The fact that anyone can just reassign markers, accidentally or otherwise, is terrible. As it stands, this ill-conceived "feature" is a distraction and an option to disable it altogether is IMO needed, e.g. if ZOS can't be bothered to implement something that is actually useful. People will grief with it or accidentally screw it up.

"FCO TargetMarkers" addon has a default setting enabled that locks target markers while in group so only crown can set or modify them.

I'll echo what others are saying and repeat that this is HORRIBLE implementation. When I tab target I occasionally hold that button a bit too long. I know, my bad. Until the other day, that never mattered. But now, since this new wheel of "awesomeness" is tied to whatever your tab target key is, I've had to just stop using tab targetting altogether. Can we can an option to

    A: Turn off the wheel
B: Bind it to it's own key
C: Maybe an adventurous addon author can find a way to do one or both of the above

ZOS, when you're introducing new things, please consider making them OPTIONAL!!!

Since the thread got some attention I want to add some stuff.

I'm all for this feature, it's good and needed. It should've been implemented earlier and it's really nice that it's implemented now.

The problem is the bind parity with tab targeting. It's good that the buttons can be bound to the same button, but there needs to be an option to bind them to seperate buttons.

Tab targeting is a crucial feature in many end game pve content especially for tanks but for dds as well. It's also important in many pvp scenarios. Tab targeting shouldn't be changed in any way. It's important mechanic that many players have muscle memory for. This new mechanic definitely should be seperated so you can bind tab target and the target icon wheel either together or seperately.

Very good addition but needs better control options.

Yeah, really need to have some way to disable or rebind it. And I thought this was just a gamepad problem, having to slap those two onto a short hold/long hold. I try to hold R3 to get the enemy to highlight, just for the wheel to come up and then I accidentally mark a different entity, so then I have to try to hunt down the enemy/player/pet and remove the mark, which can get you killed. My combat pet has ran in front of a boss a few times and got the mark instead, rather frustrating. It's hard to find the sweet spot of holding R3 long enough to get it to highlight them, but not so long it brings up the wheel. I have no desire for the wheel, at the moment, so I would love if it was optional or rebindable, maybe then I wouldn't dread activating it and actually use it.

And while they're at it, there needs to be an option to resize and recolour the symbols, i.e. make them larger and more popping. As they are now, with muted colours and tiny, they're just more visual clutter, rarely actually helpful.

If someone can find a way to turn this off, please let me know. It's been 100% negative to my gameplay experience.

It would help if only the crown of a group could adjust the markers.

That still leaves the issue of crown being able to put markers on PCs’ heads without our permission or ability to remove them. It’s highly distracting, very easy to do accidentally, and needs to be removable by players when placed on their characters.

The ability to separate the bindings already exists. Go into targeting and change as you wish.

Use the gamepad options and they are separated. I have in this screenshot set tab targeting to backspace and the marker wheel to -
Neither key triggers the other. This is base game no addons.

you can turn it off here

    ffxwuuxgqayj.png

literally as soon as it was obvious that every group member can accidentally put markers on things my entire raid team turned it off.
it's not useful, it's just noise.

the bare minimum is that only crown should be able to set markers.
