What sets affect the Overload ultimate?

I'm not sure what sets affect Overload/sets overload procs.

Do sets that boost light/heavy attack damage boost Overload? What about Empower?

Does Overload proc sets that need an ultimate to be cast for the effect to happen?

Overload does not proc sets that require an ultimate to be cast (I tested this with balorgh numerous times over the past year).

The main reason I can see it working this way is because overload doesn't technically get cast, it gets toggled.

As for sets that boost overload, I would assume sets that buff light and heavy attacks should buff it as it states that it changes your light and heavy attacks to what it does, and doesn't state it procs a burst of damage (or adds a burst of damage) to your light attacks like crystal weapon and the psijic ele/crush weapon skills state, but it would need to tested.

As the other poster said, this is not an ability, but a toggle. You can cast this all day long with crystal fragments slotted, the passive will never proc since it's not an ability. Per my testing, yes empower does effect the heavy attack aoe damage (unless i just critted like 20 times in a row to do nearly double damage). You will want to test for sets that proc on light attack, heavy attack procs which require "fully charged" attacks don't seem to work (like infalliable aether).

Since I don't believe everything I read I went ahead and tried weapon's expert and it doesn't work with this ult's heavy attacks but it did affect the light attacks- sticking with light attacks is a good option for this.
Biting aura and Thaumaturge made no difference in the heavy attack damage for me on a dummy, I wouldn't consider this a true AOE or DOT unless this is an unintended bug, which it may very well be.

ACTUAL VALUES MAY VARY IN-GAME BASED OFF YOUR STATS (I would check set collections to get a more accurate estimate)
Here's some sets that proc off shock damage, which hitting someone with an attack causes it to go off:

(inspecting these sets on the sorc I run sorc, the values were around 700 flame/shock damage for purple ilambris and over 2k damage on blue quality storm-cursed proc)


bear in mind it has a 20% chance to cause "Concussion" for 4 seconds after hitting, which is a status effect. Through this and other skills you can benefit from:

(yes i tested, it does increase concussion's minor vuln to 20 seconds)



Here's a set where I'm unsure what would happen, but it's crap anyways (from darkshade caverns IIRC) so I wouldn't consider it especially with sets like new moon and clever alchemist out there.


utilizing crushing weapon, crystal fragment, and this ult can be a pretty powerful combo especially if you get behind your target.


Also, maybe look into sets that proc off light attacks like kjalnar, relequen, or siroria's

PS power overload increases range to 35m, in AVA you might consider using Propelling Shield which would increase your range to 42m, making you one of the world's biggest jerks but able to hit people from far distances.

if you can get that to 42 meters, then it is functionally the same range as snipe (lethal arrow morph), but can still be out-ranged by the other snipe morph by 5 meters
