It wouldn't be so bad except on PS4 you have to scroll through the million different style choices to find the one you want.

Pretty sure the master writ says the style in the definition prior to opening the master writ to get the quest. The "quest" might not have it.

True, that's what I meant. On the master writ it states the style but not whether I know the style or not. Thanks for pointing that out.

Even the addons aren't perfect for this: I recently got master writs for crafting sets only available in the crafting stations in the Earth Forge, but at the time I hadn't finished the Fighter's Guild main quests, required for access to the Earth Forge. So even though I met all other conditions to fill the writ, I had no access to the necessary crafting stations. My master writ addon of choice, WritWorthy, didn't point that out to me.
I know guild halls are always an option, but to me that just feels like leaving the game. I like to visit the original crafting sites for the different sets, because then it feels like I'm actually participating in the game's story. So I'm NOT disagreeing with you, just saying that your suggestion doesn't fit my preferred playing style.Even the addons aren't perfect for this: I recently got master writs for crafting sets only available in the crafting stations in the Earth Forge, but at the time I hadn't finished the Fighter's Guild main quests, required for access to the Earth Forge. The quest is not a requirement of the writ. It could have been done at any guild hall that has the station attuned (which is likely almost all of them).
