* Hello Zos, i played this game from the beginning. I always paid my monthly fee for the ESO+ subscribtion from the beginning. I played this game for 40k+ hours. I always played Templar as a main. I did almost everything in the game i even got a platinum trophy on my Templar.
I run 3 guilds with almost 500 people.
I love the game! I love almost everything. It made my life much and much more fun.
But i'm stuggling with the game.. With my main Templar i played 40k+ hours on her.. Beceause i miss my jabs.. And i would really apreciate if zos could respond to this.. please consider this undo..
The way if feels, the way it looks and the way you interact with it.. it is just not enjoyable for me..

    Couldnt agree more. Templar got deleted. Its like taking cloak from nightblade. When that happens I can finally quit the game.

    I couldn't agree less.

    Jabs was a one button trope that dismantled a balanced approach to Templar - no skill should be a use it or fail kind of endeavour and the power level of Jabs was that. Even now it's still one of the strongest spammables - doing 14k versus Rapid Strikes 12k, Concealed Weapons 10k and Cutting Dives 8.8k with the same in a 10 second bleed.

    On top of the heal Jabs brings and the minor protection and the extra damage triggered by it the way Templar functioned in dungeons (easily bursting way in excess of any other class to ridiculous levels) is not something to bring back.

    If you want a new animation for Jabs, sure, campaign for that. But NOT the overpowered nonsense from before!

    Rapid Strikes outparses Jabs noticeably unless you deliberately choose not to run another source of Major Brutality/Sorcery and your group (if you have one) does not forcibly provide it (e.g. DK’s igneous weapons). Compare like for like with the buffs you would have in content or on a parse. No one who wants to compare the relative damage of skills will intentionally hamstring themselves by refusing to run 20% extra weapon/spell damage.

    Not going to happen. Same reason they won't update existing skills with longer animations.

    Thank you for keeping this topic active.

    I'm not ok with the damage and healing nerfs to jabs, but can live with them. The animation though is unacceptable and doesn't fit with the rest of the spear animation templars use. They didn't even keep the spear animation consistent within the class. Instead they gave ONE SKILL a new spear animation....that's not even a spear. It's a nighthollow stave.

    Nobody's saying adjust the timing either. We're just saying give us the templar spear back for jabs. Leave the timing and damage and healing the same. Just keep the spear animations consistent within the class so all templar spear animations are the same....as they should be.

    Jabs does less single target damage per second than spamming an AOE DOT. How is that not considered a massive oversight? They destroyed Templar.

    Voted yes, but I'd prefer they undo the burning light change. At least the cooldown and damage reduction of it.

    Others here have pointed out the change to the skill in U35 is multifaceted, and they like part of the change. Since the statement in the OP indicates the animation is the only issue (appearance and interaction), that is just something to get used to.

    Jabs was never overpowered. Templar wasn’t even close to top-tier DPS when it was nerfed. Jabs was a comparatively powerful spammable, but that’s because it made up for an otherwise lackluster toolkit. Not to mention atrocious sustain. The unique advantage of the class was its burst and cleave potential, and jabs made that possible.

    Now it’s just trash, with the second worst animation in the game.

    Please, for the love of all things holy, fix the animation! It is hot garbage for the majority of the player base; I miss playing my templar. :'(
    (For those who have adjusted, good for you. I STILL cringe any time I see a templar "scooping poop" with the jabs animation. I apparently am not the only one.)

    This is a tricky one as I've played Templar since launch and Jabs has been my bread and butter since day one.

    But the great thing about Templar (and why I chose it) is because it's a class that's capable of all roles in ESO, even if it's not necessarily the master of any.

    Using the Armory, I have builds slotted for Tank, Healer, DPS - PvP and PvE.

    Templar can literally do it all.

    So when we're talking about a core ability like jabs (and it's change) it's opened up the door to me on exploring other options for the class and the different builds I can use.

    Yes, the jab jab Magplar certainly copped a heavy nerf, but that's not all the class can do.

    Yes, Jabs has been a core identity of the class for a long period of time and I personally also lament it's passing as a superior combat ability

    Some players will throw up hands and walk away

    Others will adapt.

    I chose the latter and I'm thriving, but I completely understand and appreciate why people are upset with the update.

    It's a radical change to the class identity that's been made here, without and clear alternative pathway or skill set update to create a new definition.

    It's not just jabs though. I still contend burning light was the biggest downfall. Yet you can still make things work with Templar now, but soon they're going to gut PL/POTL . Not by the scaling change so much; but because they massively reduced the percentage of damage copied.

    Templar has always been OP because of the Jabs/sweeps dependency. It is the only skill templars play and is still very much OP. I disagree with bringing it back to it super overpowered state and rather agree with putting it deeper into the ground with more nerfs.

    The damage nerf I can kinda deal with its the new animation and the fact it doesn't match the rest of the Aedric Spear kit that irks me the most.

    They could have leased not nerfed the damage 20% and dispersed the damage from the 4hit original jabs animation 4th strike to the 3 in the new animation. Community wouldnt have been as pissed about the changes if they had done that instead i bet

    I tested first time stamplar pvp and feel weaker than ever ,jabs are weaker but cost is identical to pre changed version.
    I feel like totally different class ,healing is ok like always on templar , defense still feel terrible like templar ,maybe because i use 4 offensive sets who knows.

    I know one thing before jabs changes these comp was good i have balorgh, maelstrom sword sharpened, hearthland conq double bar, powerfull assault off bar bow is not bad composition.

    Jabs was never too strong ( they can be against new players only) againt veterans they feel like nothing, most players know how to play around them. Jabs should shred enemy right now just scratch. Have almost 17k armor penetration and still feel like scratching. Templar not have tools too proper defense and right now not have tools to proper damage (perfect class)
