So, where are Bastian and Mirri's furniture letter?

When reaching full rapport with a companion they will send you an unique mail. This letter work the same way any other mail do and expire in 30 days. Making you lose this unique item unless you took a screenshot of it, which of course is not the same thing.

With High Isle, we got Isobel and Ember, who of course also got letters they will send you, but with a difference. You will also get a furniture item of said letter. So you can place it in a house and look at it, being all sentimental and lost in memory lane.

Thing is, this change was not done to Bastian and Mirri. We get no furniture item of their letters and I can't understand why this wasn't added to them at the same time. Is this going to be a thing with companions? As more companions are released their features gets improved and more things are added but the old ones are abandoned and forgotten?

It seems reasonable that there should have been some updates for the Blackwood companions but so far there hasn't been anything. A letter furnishing for them would be nice to have at least, I can't see why not.

The problem is, the letters are quest rewards. How would those who already completed the old companions' quests get the furnishings? Having to level rapport all over again on a different toon just for that would make many people unhappy, I think. Would it be possible for those who already did the quests to get the letters in the mail, while those who didn't get them upon completing the quests?

I assume it would be connected to the companion achievements like an achievement furnishing(as in the furnishings in your collections tab)? With account wide achievements there shouldn't be any need to grind rapport again just for the furnishing. I'm not sure how it works currently with the High Isle companions because I've only done Ember's quests on one character. Do you get more than one version of the letter or is it just the one per account?

They're regular furnishings, so they don't go to the collections tab.

I remember I completed vet Imperial City Prison before furnishing were added. I didn't retroactively get a Lord Warden bust after housing became a thing. I have a feeling finding a solution for the players who already went through the grind won't be that simple. Maybe the devs already considered this and chose to keep things as they are.

Rapport has an achievment. It's not hard add the furniture item as an achievment furniture.

And if that somehow isn't possible, then they can just add it to their rapport mail just like Isobel/Ember's, so people can at least obtain them somehow.

Not making them obtainable to anyone just because some people wouldn't want to do the rapport and quests again (Which is far less grindy than level) is an extremely selfish and foolish notion. I gladly do their rapport again if it gave me their letters.

Lack of updates for the Blackwood companions has been frustrating. Are we really going to have a situation where only the newest expansion companions are going to get updates now? Seems a bit short sighted if that is the case. Anyone who has ever played a Bethesda game with companion characters will be aware that companion preference is wide and varied. During the recent event I saw a healthy variety in companion usage - it wasn't all Ember and Isobel.

There should have been updates provided when High Isle launched to bring the first companions up to the level of the newer ones. If resources are being spent on new wood chopping animations and animal petting achievements, surely some can be carved out to raise the Blackwood companions to the level of the High Isle ones?

They should just make them achievement furniture, purchasable at low cost, in the capitals of the zones you meet them in addition to mailing you one. They can continue to not mail Bastian and Mirri's furnishing if it would be too complicated to retroactively mail them out, but they'd still be accessible.

I'm so salty that my best bro didn't send me a physical letter when you can get them for the two new ones. I think Izzy/Ember also have 3 companion loyalty quests instead of the two that Basti and Mirri did.

I get that Ember and Izzy are the new ones, but they really did get a lot of things that the other two didn't get. Even Mirri seemed to have gotten a few extra lines. Wonder who at ZOS hates Bastian this much though. I get it - note everyone needs to like every character, but it definitely feels like someone at ZOS hates him.

Yeah, it's not a nice thing to realise. Devs can have their favourite companions, thats normal and fine but they shouldn't be imposing that on the playerbase. We should be getting equal treatment here - the game shouldn't purely exist to reflect the prefrences of those who make it.

I agree, ZOS should endeavour to treat all companions equally. They always insisted (and I agree) that companions should be treated as individual characters, not just some interchangeable ability boost mechanism for player characters (at least that was one of the main arguments for no head gear for companions and levelling up rapport for each char individually).

I was happy when I discovered that there are furnishing letters for companions now, but then equal parts disappointed and cross to realize there are none for the older ones. It was a big disappointment back when I got the first letter to see that it was done by ingame mail of all options, and would be gone in 30 days, and I can't believe they didn't use the occasion to remedy that.

As others said above, everyone has their own preferred companion. Mine happens to be Bastian, and I bet there are others who like Mirri best. It's just a shame we can't enjoy the same nice things as those who prefer Ember or Isobel.

I wouldn't care how they'd implement it to give a furnishing for the old companions. Achievement furnishing seems to be the obvious way. But if nothing else is feasible I'd even make a new character just to max Basti's rapport again. Honestly, this game offers me to grind for so many, so much less interesting things, I can't imagine they would/should have any compunctions about offering another one.

    @tomofhyrule
I have to agree about ZOS not liking our dear Basti very much. I remember back when they introduced the companions they talked about him for about two minutes (which was mostly "Uhh, nice tattoos!"), then switched to Mirri and waxed poetic...
Then High Isle came and they basically said "Yeah, Basti is so stuck up and boring, so we re-did the character concept and gave you the much cooler Isobel!"
But I am so very thankful that for some reason someone at ZOS wrote, and someone approved, this character, anyway. So people like you and me can adventure across Tamriel with a great friend at our side. ;-)

OMG, really? That's so poor. I once watched a content creator talking about the companions who said: "he's not a hot girl so who cares' which was...something. Didn't really expect the devs to have the same level of dismissiveness.

It seems that way unfortunately... And it's not as if Bastian/Mirri were a throwaway feature, they were the new system of the Blackwood chapter, so by not updating them this year it looks like they wanted to make a contrast with the new companions, likely because they have a vested interested in making them shinier, since they are a selling point.

I'd love it if Bastian were simply given a second daily quest that gave him +125 rapport. He already has the fewest ways of raising rapport, and only has the one daily (Mages Guild), and *that* conflicts with Ember who has three big daily rapport gains (Mages Guild, Thieves Guild Heist, High Isle Delve).

Considering at least one new feature for the companions was promised as an update when they were released I think it's reasonable for players to expect something. Companion characters sit in a different place compared to static content from previous expansions - they are still used regularly and they can be used with all new content. Why shouldn't they keep pace with that content? Imagine if Scrying simply stopped updating after you finished Greymoor - no new content at all - that's be pretty bad right?

Companion updates would keep a lot of players sweet and it seems weird there has been nothing at all - total radio silence :/ . A letter at least would be nice to have as a keepsake.

I feel like he would be the type of companion who you gain rapport from if you used a memento in front of him. Ember too.

I also feel like if this was a thing there would be add-ons like "Memento-Reminder." I wouldn't mind seeing people use them out in the world in this manner, it might diversify things a bit.

I just finished Isobel's quest that gave me the letter, and I'm salty again that my bro only sent me a mail that the game deleted after 30 days.

I wish they would go back and give us the ability to have Bastian's and Mirri's letters as furnishings.

Since Basti and Mirri have one quest fewer than the High Isle ones, it'd be amazing if they could give us a simple 'epilogue' quest for Basti and Mirri so they could have a third companion quest, and that'd give them a place to reward that letter furnishing. At least then they wouldn't have to retroactively assign it to various accounts.

pls ZOS? Best bro needs some love (considering he doesn't really get it from a large portion of the community...)

That would be great, and also put the Blackwood companions closer on par with the High Isle ones. Not only with the item, but having more quests too. It was a bit odd to me that nothing was brought up regarding King Emeric when it comes to Bastian and how big deal they made his father to be.

Both Blackwood companions have unanswered questions that linger after their last quest so I think it would be easy enough to add that extra quest. Bastian has the most left unanswered though considering he has the least dialogue and environmental interaction. He is trying to rise above the treason of his father and we still know very little about what actually happened there. Considering there are families in game that betrayed Emeric but didn't suffer the same fate of the Hallix family suggests it was a serious attempt to take the thone. Serious enough that Emeric should have some reaction to seeing Bastian (Emeric's VA was right there for High Isle and no one thought to do this *sigh*) or some sort of environmental line should be added when you speak to Emeric similar to how Isobel is able to respond to you speaking with the king.

Bastian is my main man. Adore him. Chose him primarily because i wanted a MALE companion, especially when ESO was just pumping out females.

i haven't gotten his rapport maxed out yet, and hearing i won't get a 'physical copy' of his letter to display is upsetting. i sincerely hope this can be amended in some way.

As someone who is a heavy role-player,. Such a furnishing item would be a very important thing to have.

Almost been a year since I posted this, and now we have two new companions. Who of course like the High Isle companions got more dialogue, quests and I can safely assume also furniture letter versions of their rapport letter.

The issue Sharp-as-Night's passive had even got fixed, meanwhile Bastian's remain broken.

It'd be nice to get some acknowledgement. Ignoring these threads, ignoring requests, it's just making the players affected annoyed and less charitable. A simple "we hear you" would be a good start, some degree of response instead of this constant silence.
