I enjoyed playing only templar before U35 and now its gone

Every single dungeon and trial boss after elsweyr has 900 different immune phases that cancels out every dot you applied which makes you look out for the health percentage of the boss so you wont waste a global cd by applying a dot when it nears an immunity phase.

Templar had jabs, amazing skill because it was dishing out similar damage to a dot but with immediate effect so the damage wont be wasted on immunity phases. Templar also had deadly strike which was great because it was compatible with most other bis sets despite being tailor made for the class.

You took all of the assets pve templars played the class for. Why? I dont understand why completely demolish the class identity and playstyle despite ABSOLUTELY NOONE asking for it

I weaved old jabs just fine. I can weave the new jabs no better, just with a whole lot less damage and healing. I'm also very unhappy with templar now. A glorious playstyle has fallen into 'no fun'.

Same. Five Star Templar here. I don’t even log in with it anymore.

It’s just not fun to play.

Revert jabs and purifying light please. The spear chucking, PVE Templar is an abomination.

The Templar changes came shortly after I deleted several of my old characters of other classes that already were max level and had max professions and maxed mounts.

I deleted them to make more Templars. Because that’s how much I loved playing Templars. I thought, for sure, if I made the majority of my alts Templars, they’d get more attention/play.

And then ZOS did what they did.
Jabs (mag or stam version) feels bad to use now. That last slow jab bothers my senses. It’s like it makes my brain cringe. The flow feels so off.

My Templar switched to just an overland, daily driven Heavy Attack build.

Ironically, it gives me better DPS now than the old Maglar.

It's effective enough, but it has zero class identity now and it's no where near as fun to play as it was before.


If we had shared progression across all your characters I'd just roll a new one from a different class and move on, but since we don't my Templar just gets logged in to do dailies and then I log off and play something else that's actually 'fun'.

My main was a templar. It was by far my favorite class to play. Fast, aggressive, extreme cleave and burst damage, a strong execute, and the most iconic skill in the game with jabs. Magplar was sick in dungeon content, and I had every trifecta except one on that character. And even when people hated and gatekept plar DDs out of raid comps, I still found a core to let me get Godslayer on my plar. I was really loving the class enjoying the feeling of having found my favored playstyle.

As soon as I saw the combat preview for U35 I knew plar was dead. Then the patch notes came out and it was so. much. worse. than I guessed. The 4x nerf to jabs (minus a hit, minus damage, minus healing, and minus burning light procs) was bad enough. But the animation was the final nail in the coffin. It’s just so ineptly executed. The spear is held wrong. The motion is wrong. The body posture is wrong. It’s slow and unwieldy. And on top of that it uses an evil vampire motif… for a holy Aedric skill.

Just unacceptable. Too much for me. Canceled sub and haven’t logged in since. Still lurk here a bit hoping someday they fix this class and the game.

I’ve played all classes but I stick with my Templar main because I only have so much time. Strongly disliked the jab changes but I made some adjustments to my skills and it’s actually pretty awesome now. Basically using Solar Barrage and relying on strong heavy attacks instead of jabs plus of course the other skills you can usually find in a Templar build. Faith restored. At least for me.

So the animation is meh not some thing that would make me stop playing my Templar but what DID make me stop playing my Templar is the nerf….

I play PVE and PVP stamplar was my favorite in PVP it was in an okay spot U34 was not top tier by far but was not sitting at the bottom you could still get some kills in and have fun but now with the nerf it’s just dead you hit someone with a jab now and they just laugh Templar needs to be looked at

Still love using my Templar. For me, just changed my gameplay and played around with some the of the skills.
