High Isle Pathfinder

Okay this may be a stupid question but I was always under the impression that every time you got the pathfinder achievement it counteed towards the community event meter. But now that achievements are account-wide I'm guessing that means it's once per account per server? Was it actually that way in the past too?

Bottom line is, does it help if I do the achievement on both the NA and EU servers, or does it only count once for my whole account??

Or should I carry on doing the achievement with All my characters on both servers as I did in the past because that actually makes a difference????

I don't think it was ever an advantage to do this on more than one character.

So many people have Mules or characters that they dont play. Also, ZOS spent a bunch of time and energy parking unused Alts in a sort of Off Line memory to speed up loads of alts we do play. Making us rotate through our alts would be counter to that.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I think the right question is HOW exactly are they calculating the 100%?
100 % of what/who? Accounts that own high isle? Or of a decent majority of the accounts that own high isle? Or of toons?

I wouldn't worry too much about this. It's a chapter promotion event which they aren't very likely to want us to fail.

But it can't be characters since we can get the achievement only once per account.

I bet my acc they just change progress to preset numbers on predetermined dates and there's no calculation whatsoever

ZOS have already said it's counting the achievement, so you can only do it once per account per server. If you want to do both EU and NA you can, but there's no reason to do more than 1 character on the same server.

As for what it's 100% of I think there's two possibilities:
    1) It's entirely fake, they progress the bar a random amount each time they update it and nothing we do matters
    2) They've set a target for how many completions they think we could get, and it's 100% of that number but they don't want to tell us what that number is.

If I was doing it I'd probably look at the total number of accounts that have High Isle and are currently or recently active (aka players likely to see the news about the event and log in to participate), add a bit more, maybe about 1/3, to allow for players buying it during the sale or to join in the event, subtract about 10% to allow for people who can't participate for whatever reason (could be anything, family emergency, work, computer broke etc.) and make that the target. (This time they could also base it on participation in past community events.)

I suspect they don't tell us because if it's too high it probably seems impossible and may discourage participation, if it's too low it will be used as proof the game is in trouble and I suspect those ranges are more likely to cross over than have a gap in the middle where everyone would be happy with it.

Imagine if they said we need 500,000 completions. Some people would just see a very big number and worry it's impossible. Others would say obviously they expect everyone to do it on both servers so that means the game only has 250,000 active players in total and is in serious trouble.

No need to worry, we will get 100% no matter what.

It’s at 41% at the time of writing.

This one suspects the meter will magically reach 100 in a few days :p

The meter always reachs 100%. And always will.
Don't you think it would be a really bad marketing move by ZOS if the 100% isn't achieved?

This is how Gina explained it during Summerfall:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/436140/official-discussion-thread-for-unlock-a-stunning-villa-mount-pet-during-the-summerfall-event/p3

“The 100% completion goal on the Summerfall Event progress meter is a goal-post we set when designing this event that we believe everyone has a high likelihood of reaching. We want you all to have fun with this event and successfully earn all three event rewards, and we chose a goal with that in mind.

While we aren’t disclosing numbers – that would take away from the fun! – we can again confirm that “100%” does not mean 100% of all players who own ESO or even Summerset.”

They choose numbers they say they won’t disclose, and they aren’t going to give us enough information to find out or test it for ourselves.

We do know it can’t mean “toons” here, though, because the “meter” is explicitly account-based.

Just curious: do other games typically give the actual numbers when running events like this?

I know Pokemon Go used to, but I think that was after the fact - they'd say there will be a bonus effect if enough players complete an activity, then reveal how many did it when confirming it was unlocked. But I can't find any examples in recent years so they might have stopped doing that.

The only other game I play which does events like this is Guild Wars 2 and their approach is basically the same as ESO. They use one of their dynamic event progress bars which doesn't show actual numbers, just a visual representation of progress towards the goal. I know a few of those did fail to unlock everything, so presumably that was real and not pre-planned increments, but they were also much smaller scale events (like a weekend bonus type of thing) which were less likely to attract negative attention when they failed.

the community award meter will always get to 100% because it looks bad for a community to fail at something.

26% then 41% now 55%, those jumps are way too consistent honestly. The next jumps are probably going to be around the ballpark of 68%, 77%, 85%, 92%, and 97% which creates suspense then pushes sales to the undecided seeing it so very close to the "goal" capping at 100% before it ends. Complete and utter... speculation.

I got pathfinder like 2 weeks after High Isle came out, does this mean I am set for the DLC? Or is Pathfinder also do all the quests for high isle, because I have not helped that nord in Gonfalon Bay yet and that's my last quest

Pathfinder is just discovering all the "striking locales" meaning the places marked with a sort of eye symbol. It doesn't include delves, quest hubs, volcanic vents, dungeons, or world bosses.

They said in the livestream that they added in at the beginning all the previously attained Pathfinder achievements, so I guess that means you don't need to do anything else to contribute to the reward meter since it sounds like it is once per account.

The rewards will be available to everyone who owns high isle by the end of the event, (probably even if they didn't actually get the pathfinder achievement or participate in the other event activities). However you DO have to log in and CLAIM your reward bundle from the crown store during the specified window of time - it will NOT be automatically added to your account if I remember correctly from previous events like this.
