How active is your guild?

Hi. I would like to know if your experience with guilds is like mine. In the past guilds would have many active members, chat would be busy and call outs for RND's pledges and other group activities common. If they ran trials these would fill quickly with guild members and there would be no need to recruit in say Craglorn. Now it appears that guilds are becoming far less active.

For me an active guild is one one where a call out for a group event happens fairly often and is answered with a full group fairly quickly. A quiet guild is one where chat is empty and call outs for group content rare.

Please post for the most active guild you are a member of, or the one you do most events/group content in. The guild does not need to have a guild house.

Feel free to recommend any of the guilds you are a member of and say if it is on the EU or US server.

Many thanks.

<edit 02 Oct 2022>

Some folk have mentioned that the pole doesn't take into account the fact you can be in 5 guilds. This is correct it does not. Had I done so it would have been a significantly longer list and I would have probably still missed some combinations. There are a lot of riffs on the theme of 'guild'. So if you'd like to vote please do so for the most active guild you find yourself involved in the most. It could be social, trading, whatever.

Thanks for the feedback.

This isn't really what you're active guild I was in was a non vet pvp guild in like 2017.

It was before we had text chat on console so you had to get in guild chat to get a group. Peak times we'd have 3 groups running, like 20 people in each of 3 guild chats.

Was crazy fun, almost everyone had been playing less then a year so we were all ****ing clueless but everyone was so damn enthusiastic it made up for that.

We went from nothing to one of the most active guilds on the server to imploding in like 3 months.

being honest, guilds in this game are horrible. the system itself is bad.

players should had been able to get 2, maybe 3 guilds max and that's it.

The fact there's 5 means that at least 4 or 3 of the guilds players have are there just because.

All guild chats i am on are always dead, because there's no point investing time on a guild when they already have "better" ones.

plus the fact you get kicked after 7-30 days... yeah no, i couldn't care less about guilds on this game.

That being said, idk why ppl keep saying this game is dying. like, are we playing the same game? On steamcharts the population barely decreased and there's been months where the decreases where WOW!!!! compared to this past 2 months.
Second, all my dungeon queues (when i play dps) are faster. I used to wait 30 mins. I don't even play at time's where most ppl are online.

My guild is like a great example of the work of a great necromancer. It is dead, does not smell, does not fall apart, moves slowly and performs its tasks. I am satisfied.

The activity of guilds depends on the activity of their leader. Why does the Guild Master become passive over time? Because ZOS disappoints him with the fact that over the years the guild system has not developed: guild houses have not appeared, there are no management tools, there are no daily guild quests and guild currency.

Guilds are like people, you have to find the right fit for your personality, play style, frequency of play, and interests. 5 guild slots are necessary due to there being different types of guilds in ESO such as end game, trading, RP, etc. In fact like another poster I'd love to have more slots since I've come across many excellent guilds that I'd love to join but don't have to room. I've made excellent friends in guilds and wholeheartedly recommend them...just keep looking until you find the right one.

Regarding your queue statement, If you are popping as DPS a lot quicker in U35 than before in U34 that's because there are fewer DPS queuing which would indicate a loss of DPS players. Given that DPS was reduced by around 30% it's conceivable that many DPS players went on hiatus until next patch, or even longer until U37 or 39 when they think the damage from U35 will be walked back. Trying to fill DPS slots in my trials has been a herculean effort as there is less interest from DPS post U35 due to fewer active DPS players in my guilds and even filling DPS slots in zone chat is very difficult with multiple people in different high traffic zones advertising slots.

I'm in 5 guilds, 3 used to be really active and are now struggling. Two guilds are major trade guilds, one is a major PvP guild.

So the poll options dont really work when we all have 5 guild slot options and we use different guilds for different things.

The big problem is the major trade guilds are now having issues keeping sales up to a point they can pay the 20 million plus every week to hold the prime guild trade locations. Too many people are playing less or leaving the game and it's hitting the major trade guilds the hardest.

For me, Discord has ruined guild activity. Barely anything is typed out in chat anymore. You want to know what is going on or to participate in something, head over to Discord. I don't use Discord. I strongly believe that if you are playing a game, you should stay in the game and be focused on the game.

    I am in three guilds.
The first was active and could fill dungeon groups fairly easily. Then there was a split. And now it is pretty dead. I stay in it because one of the "active" members has a home with all the set crafting stations.
The second guild was the one that was created by those that left the first. I joined them a few months later but everything they do is tied to Discord. I rarely get to participate unless it comes time for them to do the activity and they are able to let a non-discord user participate.
I recently joined a third guild that was advertised as active in PvP, an area that I need to improve at. However, after U35, there hasn't seemed to be much activity. There are a lot more active players but not much going on as a guild whole.

Perhaps “guild” means different things to other players. To the OP it appears that a guild is a easier way of summoning an ad-hoc group that zone chat, but others will join a guild for trading, or to join a team for scheduled group dungeons and trials. There are PvP guilds, social guilds, housing guilds, RP guilds, and probably more.

Activity will mean different things in each type of guild. I voted quiet, because I like quiet.

I'm in some fairly active guilds. The most active ones have a schedule and do trials on Friday nights, pvp in cyrodil on Sundays, etc. I think they try to get people more active, however, I'm the one that's probably not as active. I'm not really interested in trials much (unless I need gear) or harder content stuff. I'm mostly a solo player. I do need one that I can sell stuff in. I always put stuff up for cheap, and that just sits there. Seems only the most popular guilds like in the main cities sell their items. But I don't belong to any guilds I have to pay dues for. I never have any gold because I decorate/build houses. I like my guilds, I guess I kind of feel bad that I'm not as active though.

On discord/or band, I'm not a huge social media person either. I don't mind chatting a bit in checking in to see if they have something going on, but that's it. It's hard to be a shy introverted person and play a mmo group play! lol

I noticed a huge difference when I moved to ESO after over a decade playing LotRO. The Guilds here just aren't the same.
In LotRO we were or became a bunch of friends who went out our way to help each other.

Here you say good morning and you get radio silence- the majority of the time, however ask if someone wants a motif and all of a sudden they find their keyboards.
Like others have said they are only in guilds for access to the attunable crafting stations, Mundas stones, Target dummies and other expensive items.
I was in a guild I left dude to drama (a friend was sin binned for nothing) but I didn't realise at the time it was a pretty good guild in terms of organising Trials and Vet Dungeon runs which I expected to be the norm. I was wrong.(at least so far!)

BTW if you know of an active chatty/friendly guild that runs regular trails and vet dungeon clears please point me in their direction. I dislike elitist attitudes and much prefer to help and learn over snobbery.

I have joined and left many guilds trying to find my home but so far this has eluded me. Shame as a decent guild could open up this game big time.
I have also thought about starting my own Guild and encouraging an active social schedule. What's stopping me is the attunable stations, there are just way too many to collect, I don't know how to get round that as I am sure not having them would put me at a huge disadvantage when it comes to recruitment. Sorry I am quickly sliding off topic.

I believe the biggest reason for this is because in ESO a player can be in 5 guilds at the same time. The degree of dedication and sense of community is spread out over all these guilds rather than just concentrated in one.

    Yeah, no.

Here are some guild options people might get into that have nothing to do with them all being the same guild.

A trader might need more than 30 slots, therefore they join a couple of trading guilds.
They might be learning dungeons, wanting to get into build crafting, etc, so they join a beginner/vet/prog dungeons & trials guild
They adore housing and join a housing guild with regular competitions, building events, etc.
They love fishing (weird people) and join a fishing guild.
They love to roleplay and join a roleplay guild, but have a few ideas, so they join one dedicated to monsters, and perhaps one dedicated to political intrigue.
They speak a different language, or want to learn one, and join a guild dedicated to that.
They're from Australia and find an Aussie guild (oi oi oi!)
They love PVP and join a guild that loves murdering other players for fun and profit!
They join guild dedicated to helping others, guilds dedicated to making folks feel less marginalized, guilds dedicated to being weird for the sake of it.

There are more types of guilds than you may realize, and multiple reasons why you'd be maxed out on your guild limit and happily contributing to all of them.
