Game does look great on the PS5!

I finally got a PS5 and went to look at my largely orphaned PS4 characters. The game looks great graphically.

Too bad so many things addons help with are missing though. AND the fact that it is a completely different character set, including Crowns and other items.

I could not recommend the game to anyone, but it does look great!

It's not just the graphics, game performs so much better on the newer consoles.

Shame it's still so hard to get a ps5. I gave up in the end and switched to xbox.

While the PS5 version does look much improved compared to the PS4 port it still doesn't match what it looks like on PC when you use the highest settings @1440P (1440P and 4K look identical btw). Which is kinda disappointing considering I can do that and still average almost 60fps on an old 4gb Rx570 GPU. The PS5 hardware is way more powerful so I'm not sure why they needed to make any compromises between framerate, resolution and quality settings at all.

It does run quite well but it’s still got some big issues. Reaper’s March has spots that’ll crash you to dash unable to login on that character until you submit a ticket to get moved or load up the PS4 version and do it yourself. The fact you gotta play it safe and keep the old one installed as a get out of jail free card kinda sucks and don’t get me started on how little zoom the map has compared to the old one. This is max zoom on PS5, what I’d give for the PS4 map back.

What do you mean, different set of characters, does our account from ps4 dont migrate to ps5?

I had bought one at Walmart that was listed as in stock, but got worried that it was oversold and I would never get it and happened to see it on the Playstation store itself.

I did have to buy the Horizon game, but that was discounted and only a slight premium even if I never play it.

No, your PS4 stable continues. Your PC stable is quite different. I had to rebuild everything (which still irks me) and exiled a great many Crowns. That may ultimately be the part that gets me to leave.

I was still impressed with how pretty it looked though and even did a couple of endeavor tasks, though I found the interface more challenging than the PC. I wish the interface had been improved as much as the graphics, though that would be quite difficult with no keyboard.

Crashing in Reaper's March is not a PS5 issue, it's a ZoS ESO issue, and it's been present in the game for years.

Had me worried there.
More reason not to get a ps5 on dec, if that was true.

For me, it's the load time improvement. I used to literally go do house chores or other things to busy myself because it would take 84 years to load into character selection screen, then load into the character, or to switch characters, or to travel from one zone to another, even just one wayshrine to another on the same map. Black silhouettes of players while the PS4 struggles to render in a timely fashion and 84 year wait for NPCs to load in so you can interact with them, especially bad in popular areas like bankers or event NPCs.

Basically NONE of that exists on PS5. Load in is almost instant. Switching characters is instant. Wayshrine to wayshrine load in on same map is literally no wait at all. About the only load screen is character logging in and hopping zones, but that's still about 2-3 seconds versus the 30+ or more seconds on PS4. I have not once seen the "this may be an unusually long load time" load screen on PS5. Not once. That basically popped every time on PS4... the joke is there was nothing "unusual" about the load time there. LOL Players render instantly as do NPCs. I'm constantly turning in a quest and on to the next one while my friend on PS4 is still waiting to even arrive in the zone, much less then wait for the NPC to load in.

So, yeah, it's pretty obvious it's PS4 hardware causing a lot of PS4's own issues. Just the hardware upgrade to PS5 is a world of difference on this game especially.

I do have to admit that not being to zoom in as close on the PS5 map is super annoying. But I'd never trade that to have the "unusually" long load times back.

PS5 does look a lot better and runs quicker and smoother. Being unable to zoom is really annoying. Sadly I think we are just stuck with it as I have not seen anywhere that ZOS has even acknowledge the problem with ZOOM at all.
