ISO Good Group Tank Builds

After this past weekend dealing with fake tanks, I'm pulling my old Tank out of mothballs and going to gear him up. I still have a headache from dealing with that werewolf trying to tank Cauldron. My old build has a Alcast build and I need to set up the CP points (haven't used the tank since the CP system changed over). I run both Normal and Vet dungeons and Normal Trials (working on Vet Trials)

Looking to see what is popular right now (no greedy tank build please).

I do yoln/turning tide/DSA snb/void bash for dungeons. In trials I think this would change to yoln/turning tide/DSA snb/Nazaray for MT. If you’re a necro you don’t need turning tide though and can use saxhleel. For OT I see sax/Powerful Assault being popular, don’t remember what helmet/shoulder goes on that one though.

Pearls from Dreadsail Reef is also good but only in trials.

Thanks for the tip! My tank is a stam/DK Argonian. What weapon are you using for back bar? I was using a frost staff, is that still viable?

One tank I run is a Nord DK. I do the Yolna/Turning Tide/Nazary setup with an Ice Staff backbar. Pretty basic and works in both dungeons and trials. Other set combos I use on DK tanks (I have 2, the other being a Breton DK) are Saxheel + Drakes Rush (works well against bosses) and Pearlescent + Crimson Oath.

Void bash is a decent alternative for Major Maim in trials, whereas Bani's Torment is a good set for dungeons, or a trial with a stationary boss. Lady Thorn is also a source, but Nazary is so much better in trials its hard to give up. Encratis Behemoth is good for mag heavy groups, Symphony of Blades and Magma Incarnate work on heals if your healers are wearing something else, Baron Zaudras is a decent ultimate generating set, and of course the old stand-bys of Earthgore and Sentinel of Rkugamz. You can mix and match based on content.

Powerful Assault is great for trials. The staff is just very expensive if you want to avoid the RNG grind.

The ice staff if preferable because of Bulwark in the CP

The Alcast CP setup is good. Other sites I've looked at all seem pretty uniform when it comes to CP.

Np! I’m using snb/snb because I have both masters and void bash but if you can drop one then ice staff backbar is definitely better. DPS appreciate void bash a lot but can also just chain everything manually, does the same thing. Masters isn’t really needed all the time but it is very useful for resistance and self healing using puncture. Granted, DKs have a lot of heals and resists and shields going for them already.

I will not repeat, what was already said.
So only one monster set, I would add and it is tremorscale. It decreas taunted target armor after hybridization.
    PvP - Recruit.
    PvE - Dragon food
RPG - A guy who thought, that he can defeat daedric prince, yet guards still chase him off when he accidentally touches some object during daily writs.

I appreciate all the suggestions! Going through my sticker book last night, I have enough pieces to equip my tank with Yolnakrun (armor), Leeching Plate (jewelry & Weapons - SNB/Frost Staff) and Tremorscales.

I'll start working on collecting missing pieces of my current sets and start collecting other sets like Void Bash, Turning Tide, etc.

@PrimusNephilim that's a pretty solid setup for any dungeon and some trials. Good luck!

    Awesome, Thanks!

Last night I also started collecting Powerful Assault, before logging out, I had collected all the armor pieces via guild vendors, then I hit the merchant in IC. Burned through 20k worth of Tel Var Stones, ended up with 4 pairs of pants, 2 arms and two helmets but I got a dagger and a maul (ha) ....that RNG is a killer :/

Everyone already mentioned most good sets, but dont sleep on bloodlords embrace. The sustain is legit. Also leeching plate is great if you pug vet dailies or want to run 3 dps.

Thanks for the tip! I've been running Cloudrest with guildies, trying to pick up the jewelry pieces (Aegis of Galenwe) but they're just not dropping, frustrating cause I'm close to getting that set completed.

But I have started tanking trials with my guild and have been doing a great job, totally love it.
    As a tank, I've completed
    - Cloudrest (upstairs)
    - Halls of Fabrication
    - Dreadsail Reef
    - Sanctum Ophidia

My go to dungeon setup is Magma Incarnate (minor courage), Turning Tide (major vuln) and Drake's Rush (major heroism). Both of these sets are procced via a bash. I haven't found a need for the arena weapons even though I have them.
