More Hide Options: Hide Loincloth, Hide Shoulders, and Hide Hip Pauldrons

We're a broken record here, but here's the annual "please allow us to hide more armor" thread. We know the Hide Shoulders and Hide Loincloth option exists in the game somewhere; it was available on the PTS a few patch cycles ago. I'm not sure about the floating hip armor though, but I'd also like to see an option to hide that as well because, well, it usually just floats and doesn't look good. While we're at it, give the option for hiding weapons while sheathed. Some weapons already have this function (bound weapon style), and I believe the Highrock Spellsword Jerkin also adds this function with that ugly as sin backpack it has on. Just make it a toggle in the options menu instead of having it tied to specific armor and weapons already.

So in short, we know the options I've mentioned all exist in the game. Some of these options already exist in the game's UI but just aren't available to players. So it's not even a big ask to just put it in the game for players to use. I used to be an advocate for everything but the loincloth option; I thought, as a 3D animator, that those loincloth pieces were part of the armor and it wouldn't be possible to have an option to remove them, but since we've seen the option in a PTS, we know that's not the case, so please add those options to the game. It hurts no one, and just makes customizing armor better for everyone.

... Maybe a hide gloves option as well. This option should also hide the wristbands that come with most of the chest armor, as well. I'm tired of using the fluffy wristband from the mazzatun style when I want my character to be glove-less, and I'm tired of trying that wristband only to find that the chest armor I liked has giant wristbands already.

If we want a genuine Prophet outfit we also need to be able to hide our waist as well. That is because there is no Prophet waist style.

I think it is a hide the front and back flaps. The character would still have their pants or skirt on.

Definitely need a hide hip flaps as well. Most of them are just hideous looking.

But, you NEED those hip wings.... the larger the hip wing the less damage you take jumping off of things ......

Yes, I am being a touch sarcastic..... I worked hard to get the Yokudan set, and have it on NONE of my characters because of the hip wing/flaps... there is a reason the Nordic towel is so popular.

Its been done, it's been done for years, it's jut never been given to the Live servers. Hide options have been possible for all outfit slots on the Dev build since the Vvardenfell chapter.

Why they never gave it to the Live build is a mystery.

Or how about those tail customizations that never made it to players' hands yet somehow ended up being used on multiple NPCs throughout Tamriel despite them being the same as player models.

I assume some forgotten knot deep in the murky depths of coagulated code spaghetti makes hiding things to turn players invisible. (That really has happened in ESO.) And the person responsible of the mess has left and no current dev knows how to even begin untangling it.

My guess is it’s some kind of “ace in the hole” thing they are saving for the future, when they’ve exhausted all the minigames and players are tired of all the random nerfs and combat changes. Once it looks like the end is in sight and the real exodus has begun, they can play the hide undesirable armor pieces card and players will go, OMG, my fashion dreams are finally coming true! And the credit cards will get whipped out and subs renewed and style books purchased…. and everything will be right with the world.

Why does everything have a nonsensical flap over the crotch area, its really truly amazing to see the same thing destroy every potentially decent looking piece of gear. I don't even understand it, I've never seen that outside of ESO, it would appear to have no practical use. I've seen endless buttcapes in GW2 but ESO has endless crotch capes..

Khajiit and Argonians hide the back flaps automatically so its some support for stuff like this.
The reason why its hidden is that it would clip horrible with tails.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

It does make one wonder about their obsession with drawing the eye to this area with flappy, dangly things. But of course over all the years that players have been inquiring about this, they have remained silent... so we'll probably never know exactly why they do it.

I really wonder if it's just the case of the Devs thinking "players will just go around fully geared but naked" and not liking that idea.

Sort of -- and it's something that Lord of the Rings Online figured out, oh... about 7 years ago, now.

People would cosmetically equip the weakest starter armors, and then go into the PvP area and rely on people underestimating them...... it was deemed an exploit, and for a while they had their version of Battle Spirit set to suppress cosmetic style, and show what you were really wearing......

Then, maybe 5 years ago, they decided to just use the One Tamriel approach... anyone entering the Ettenmoors, their PvP area, now is buffed up to match everyone else.

I don't think most are asking for fully hidden outfits to the degree that characters would be 'naked'. Most requests I see just want the option to hide shoulders and hand/arms because the styles tend to look goofy on some setups.

I for one really dislike how the majority of shoulder pieces aren't attached at all to my character and just sort of hover there, so it's kind of preferable to just remove it in those cases. There are also times where a bare-armed character would look better than the weird skin-tight gauntlets or shabby cloth wraps. Is it super important? Not really, but it is weird that there are hundreds of motifs to customize yourself with and the most basic option of "no armor" doesn't exist.

Thing with the loin clothes is the male toons have no genitalia so they just look extremely weird without one. Which I think is why almost all armor chest pieces have one and almost all male versions of outfits are very loose around the crotch.

The hip flaps on the over hand.... theres no point to them.

Which is a ludicrous excuse when:
We all wear underdear that is not removeable.
There is already plenty of costumes and styles that are very revealing.
If we wanted to run around naked people already can and do.

I'd personally rather see someone in just trousers or their underwear, than a lot of the abominations I already see on a daily basis that hurts my eyes with their glowing skins, flashing mounts and weapons, and gear dyed in the most extreme of dyes.
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

They could just add a motif of basic clothing -- with "clear" or "invisible" items ... even make them into style pages ...
you just use the style page and it hides the item from view .... because it is there, just invisible. Or make a dye that is "invisible dye" - it makes the item unseen.

I'd buy the style pages for that.... I'd love to have some of my characters wearing just normal tunics, boots, pants and a cloak (yeah, we want cloaks)

Didn’t fully read all posts but please for the love of whatever god you believe in.

    LET ME HIDE MY TABARD.

Or just allow me to select a guild to display under my name regardless of if I have a tabard on or not.

I regularly want to redesign my outfit to then realise if I don’t theme it to my tabard then it will just look like trash. Hides when you equip a costume though….

And nakedness in ESO is more modest than Sunday swim at the Y.

If people have issues with or think the default underwear is funny, well that’s on them. That type of thinking goes beyond what is regulated by game designers.
