Reduce the character speed

We have an event going on. I dont usually bother with dungeons, but its an event, so why not?

I random dungeon... we pop in... I'm not worried about waiting through all the talking, just stop at the first one to get the quest real quick.

The group takes off, engages a couple mobs initially, then I bumped into one of the idiot indestructible/immovable 6 inch high " walls " this game has, and it takes a second or two to get around it....

And now there are about 50 - 60 mobs in front of me... blocking the path I have to go .... with no team in sight. I'm trying to to chase them down, but they are Gone, and I just keep running into more and more mobs..... now Im dead.... but the battle isnt over so I can't even use a soul gem.

The Super speed they have put into this game makes dungeons completely pointless. When I heard people complain about others speeding thru dungeons, I thought they were talking about not waiting for the various NPC conversations. I was wrong. There is No " Playing " the game here. If you can jack your speed up so high that the NPCs cant catch you, its not a dungeon. It's just pointless. Reminded me of visiting a D&D group where they rolled their d20 multiple attacks all at the same time - and After they saw the results, they matched the dice up with the specific attacks. Amazingly every attack usually hit. It was just One round - kill the monster - Divide the treasure. Completely pointless game.

They need to reduce the character's speed so they can not simply run away (except for the mage who has a specific Flee spell). These are Dungeons. The whole point of the Dungeon is to defeat the enemies, not sprint past everyone and only let two players complete it.

Whats the point of even putting the mobs IN to the dungeons if you are going to give the characters the capability to completely ignore them. Or at the very least, since it is an enclosed instance, remove the ' distance factor', where the mob only moves a certain distance and then runs back to its starting point. Have all the mobs pursue the entire length and width of the dungeon.

Make the players DO the job of clearing the Dungeon.

IMHO

    A couple of things here.

This is a dungeon event, most players will be running these to get motifs and event tickets, you probably picked the wrong time to start diving into delves, sorry.

Secondly, did you tell the group that you wanted to do the quest? Telling people you need the quest isn't guaranteed to get the speedrunners to stop, but you don't get if you don't ask.

Now people also will farm gear sets since event gives second (curated!)drop on final boss, so it's obvious that there will be a lot of running and mob skipping.

You can just chill with this - if you die from time to time, there is no real penalty for that - you just res and go (btw you can res during mob fights, only on bosses there is limitation). Just enjoy quick run and quick rewards (boxes nad sets for collection), there will be plenty other occassion for more calming runs (especialy after event).

If you really want slower approach - make premade group using guilds or zone chats, there are always options and making annoying nerf for speed is just the worst option of all of them :)

If is a PUG in normal and you say in chat that you have quest I will make an effort to accommodate you.

Even in VoM or the likes where waiting for the NPCs to be 'ready to talk' brings everything to a screeching halt.

However I do not speak for the other two members of the group that might have perfectly valid yet conflicting goals.

Ultimately the event gives itself to speed and efficiency because the reward awaits on the last boss (including something new and appetising: an extra curated weapon/jewellery drop) so if you have a goal that doesn't quite align with this the least you can do is make it known in chat.

Actually you have it backwards. Excepting the dungeon implies the entire dungeon. If you want a speed run then YOU need to make a special group.

The event promotes farming for set pieces and motifs/style pages, specifically from the last boss. The last boss is the goal. People want to get to the last boss for that coffer as fast as they can.

While I don't agree with abandoning people in a dungeon (speeding ahead or dropping out), it's not ZOS's duty to "fix" it. You need to get a pre-made group, as others have suggested. Ask friends or people in your guilds and make the intention known that you don't want to simply zip through it as fast as humanly possible.

Hardly, as most people have already completed all the dungeons many, many times. There isn't anything new in them, or any reason to go at a slow pace. You've already gotten severe damage nerfs, which slow it down already. If you're a newer player, or someone looking to play Skyrim 2.0, it's not the rest of the communities job to cater to you. If you haven't done it, then find a group to do it with, or practice parsing, and learning how to do it yourself. Almost all normal dungeons can be solo'd. Asking the devs for nerfs to the entire community because you don't like that people want to do old content at a slow pace for the 1000th time doesn't make much sense. Also, ask. As someone else already said, most people are willing to kill side bosses, or stop for you to aquire the quest. A bit of advice as well, slot celerity in the red cp tree, and always use it. On every toon, as more movement speed also means getting out of AOE, which means you'll die less. Should also be running an ability with major expedition, as that's pretty much the standard for doing anything.

This applies both ways, not singularly one way or the other. If you have a goal in mind, such as doing the quest, looting crates and sacks, reading books, killing side bosses, etc., then you achieve that goal with a pre-made if you want to go at your pace. If you enter a dungeon with your own goal with random people, then you enter it like everyone else; with their own goals, and your goals might not align with theirs. You don't get to dictate how the group will go in that case.

OP. I just read through the replies to you. The replies you get are very common and infact useless as you guildies will run, through the dungeons and mostly the same people running together.

You have a point though, regarding speed. A timed speed will be very good, with a cooldown or a speedlimit on the character.

Im sorry, but this is what ESO can and will offer you. I don´t know if you are a new player or a player, who just have avoided dungeons or simply done other things in ESO.

I can´t give you any advice, because it comes down to luck and everybody for themself to a large degree. You may even end up at a crossroad, where you have to deside, what´s best for you, when it comes to ESO.

What you have experienced aint fun and many questions may flow around in your head. Anyway good luck.

On the other hand - there's a dungeon event on, which means that people will be even more motivated to pound out dungeons as fast as possible. It's probably the worst time possible to try to do dungeon quests/exploring/full clears.

This feels more common and worse with the event. Usually I can keep up perfectly fine or even lead the charge (in vet as tank, I hate when people pull before the tank but that’s another thing) but I ran 5 or so dungeons yesterday on vet and norm and could barely keep up with them, even with high movement speed.

I agree but if he's a new player he has no champion points. If he's a veteran player on an alt then yes, he better invest in the right nodes.

Didn't care about doing the quest. I did think talking to the first person would be required to 'activate' dungeon completion, but I did not care about stopping to talk to NPCs. What I DID expect was that we would be Killing the Mobs as we ran through it. Silly me starting killing mobs while the others ran away. Apparently killing stuff isn't part of dungeons. Maybe Zos should stop making the dungeons and just have caves with One Boss. Kill it and get rich.

It's a chance you take at doing stuff with a random group. It's not the job of other players to conform to what you desire. For better or worse it is what it is. Ask in zone chat for people to form groups to quest or go slow because more than likely you'll get a runner or two in every single random group during the duration of the event.

    Choose your friends

I'm in a lovely little social guild. Couple of members are V experienced in trials etc - YET - when we play together it's a slow pace vet or normal doing quests for new alts or farming gear or getting new players some experience.

We decide in advance the pace and the aims, sometimes its a speedrun, sometimes its a Vet at walking pace while we admire the scenery and enjoy inconsequential chat.

Sometimes we just chat in discord while doing our own things.

There are no expectations or pressures

The thing is, you can always find a way to play the way you want.

Tell your group you need to do the quest. If you don't speak up no one knows. Most players are amicable if you tell them otherwise they will assume you are motif hunting like the vast vast majority of people doing dungeons right now. Don't rag on people for doing the event, just communicate.

As for speed, that will never be changed as it is imperative to have good speed in BG and cyrodil. One thing you can do at low level is craft an adept rider set, gives you huge speed boost and you will have no problem keeping up. Another option is to scry for ring of the wild hunt. 45% speed boost.
