So you want them to ban all the players that logged in during the time those bugs occured?
Because it wasn't even possible to play the game and not "exploit a bug" at that time. And you could only notice that something is wrong after it already happened, or for most cases even not realise it.

The way Gina described it to be handled is the best way possible IMHO.

No body says ban the logged in players during that period (yes it was posible to play game and change zones). They should check the database logs, and hand pick the people who abused the exploit and yes ban them! You can accidentally do one or two or may be 10, but after that, you know what you are doing, am I right?

I feel like that is exactly what Gina said in her post that they were going to do...

Ha-ha, true, I myself got 3 exp scrolls and I saw people got 49 (!!!) with this abuse today after all fixes implemented, omg, also this is the most powerful scroll with 150% and long duration, just imagine... Oh, there's no need to imagine, this is real!

Why bother with xp scrolls? You get literally showered with them. I have more xp rolls in my bank than toons to use them with.
That is probably the dumbest exploit you can use :D

Not only scrolls, certain actions allowed players to duplicate tons of gold/telvar/ap from what i read on discord.

There are few gaming tropes as quintessential as the “it’s not MY fault I exploited, the devs shouldn’t have LET me do it.”

I’m sure there are tons of people who inadvertently benefited slightly from the bug. Maybe an extra login reward or two. Maybe a few extra seals of endeavors. It’s reasonable ZoS wouldn’t attempt to revert that short of a rollback, and we are past that point.

The folks who *did* intentionally game the bug for that roughly hour or so it was online, I have to imagine they’ll stick out like a sore thumb on metrics and will face a consequence of some sort, as they should.

    I’m not worried about it.

Heh. I did my usual first thing in the morning - log in on anyone who needs riding training and pick up the daily reward. That's 14 characters. And then I saw the the thread about the problem, so I knew there would likely be downtime. I did some housework etc, waiting until later in the day to log back in for research, writs etc.

I got one scroll on each account both PC mega servers - no worries for me.

suspensions should be issued at the least for the gross abusers, rollbacks or profit deletions for the other/slight abusers, ZOS won't discuss any actions happening with player accounts, however, though the people who did it will argue that they feel disenfranchised from recent changes.

Some player did exploit intentionally yesterday, but it was not player's fault.

That's a complete contradiction in terms. It's not the players' fault that the problem was introduced in a patch, but if they exploit intentionally then that is very much their fault.

That is why I was asking about the addon that automatically collects the daily rewards. I use that addon, but this is a good week for Cyberpunk, so I wasn't paying any attention at all to what ZOS was doing. Just wondering whether I dodged a bullet with my name on it...

I rely on that or a similar addon myself.

Getting a ban for playing normally (which can involve lots of zone changes) would almost certainly push me all the way out. I have already canceled ESO+, though that has a long time to run and I may change my mind before that time.

I wish they worked with their customers more, but it seems most MMOs do not.

Abusive one-off situation= a player redoing the exploit multiple/dozens/hundreds of times after it is clear there is an issue.

I've found a couple of glitches over the years since the game was released. Realized what happened was a glitch; tried the same thing again to make sure it really happened. Did the same thing one more time, taking notes while going through it so I had information for the bug/exploit report, including the fact I did the exploit three times for report purposes. It didn't make any difference if I lost the "profits" from those situations. Compare that to those who found the bank duplicate glitch and duped thousands of gold pieces and mats/tempers. And the people who found the survey glitch and abused the Oblivion out of it. Getting "profits" from accidentally finding an exploit/glitch is much different from the abusive one-off situations, and the devs can quickly tell them apart.

From reading these forums I witnessed people were banned for reporting similar glitches. So even doing honest reporting can ban you, but this last incedent I did not hear anyone banned, or any other feedback, which is reall y confusing about the ZOS policy.

Something like this happened on Fallout 76. After a patch, some lucky people got thousands of free Atoms (equivalent to Crowns) and bought everything in the store. When they fixed it those players still kept the free Atoms, the bought items and their account still in good standing.

I was only away from my computer for a little over an hour, and when I had to step away the servers hadn't even been brought back up yet, and when I returned they had already been taken down again.
And I saw multiple people complaining about thousands of mats gained in that short span of time that they lost when the servers came back up later.

    Huh.

1000s of mats is quite feasible to get in an hour when you're doing surveys. Surveys can give anywhere from 120-240 for each one. Surveys take maybe a minute to do including travel time. And especially when you have multiple of the same survey it takes no time. I know people that literally have multiple stacks of the same exact survey.

people are reporting on reddit that they have received emails from ZOS over this, citing section 5.2 of the COC. one person reports being permanently banned and trying to appeal it, some saying it's their first strike (of 3) and it was an accident.
5.2 In relation to online/competitive games, you will not exploit any bug, or abuse any game system (such as the scoring or award systems) in a ZeniMax game, Service, forum, or other games or services provided by ZeniMax. You will not intentionally use or share any bug found within any ZeniMax Game, real or fictitious, regardless of whether or not it grants an unfair advantage. You will not directly or indirectly communicate the existence of any such bug to any other user of the ZeniMax Service (in game or on a ZeniMax Service). Report bugs and exploits using the in-game portal or via help.elderscrollsonline.com. Unacceptable behaviors will also include any conduct that is considered by ZeniMax to be cheating (e.g. match fixing and collusion) or other unsportsmanlike conduct such as use of secondary accounts, intentionally losing and bribery.

Good work identifying the offenders, though reports of false flags can be worrying- I reckon most people who knowingly abused something would say that they didn't abuse it as a first line retort. It's difficult to believe such cases of innocence when data is limited.

Yeep. I'm genuinely terrified of reporting bugs now. What if I report another exploit or glitch and I just get permabanned. Put too many hours (and money) into this game to want to risk that.
Might as well just not play on days where the game is noticeably buggy I guess

Zenimax could as well, <Self edit for derogatory comment> Just think...a community where that didn't exists.

The only time I ever seen some stuff get overturned, is when there were getting a false flags from a PVP add on in Cyrodiil. They made a apology post, didn't identy the add on, or contact any add on developers. About a month later it started happening again and they tried to brush it under the rug.

I am not sure if it was this issue, but I should correct my former statement. One ban action caught a lot of flak from video coverage and ended up being reversed, but not because those hit brought up the issue. So you can be safer if video coverage is in your favor, but that is not likely for most of us.

Hopefully I never get such a ban, but it would never be based on something intentionally malicious I did, whatever the ruling.
