ESO desperate when having ad for Prime Gaming

Are players buying so few crowns now (because of inflation IRL) that ESO must have ads (in the launcher) for one of its main competitors?

Will ad revenues really help ESO in the current situation? Maybe not. It’s unfortunate that billions of (more) people will probably soon be too busy working very hard IRL to have much time for online games.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing the Walmart mount and Costco costume in ESO next. The McDonald’s sword? Yes. Bring on the cheese :):)

But, on a more serious note: who cares? Soon, ads and other issues in games, like the drawbacks of U35 for instance, will probably be the least of our worries.

I suggest you get a new tin foil hat, yours appears to be broken. ESO is doing nothing more than what other games do. I get a monthly pack from World of Tanks and World of Warships on Prime gaming. I also get perks for GTA5. Are Rockstar and Wargaming about to go bust for advertising their game on it too?

Is Prime Gaming a competitor? All it is is a service that gives you free content for a bunch of games and extra twitch benefits if you're a prime member. It's not a game launcher or anything.

Did you miss the recent promotion where prime members could use prime gaming to get free mounts and Crown boxes? I signed up for a month of free prime, got my mounts, then unsubbed. Freebie.

It's a cross promotion thing. Gets eso players interested in amazon prime, gets prime subs interested in eso

Microsoft and Amazon are fierce competitors. When I saw the Prime Gaming ad it reminded me of New World. Maybe I buy NW and spend my money there. That will be a loss for ESO.

Thinking of megacorps such as Microsoft and Amazon only as "fierce competitors" is a very simplistic view of how they interact in the general market beyond just video games.

Yeah, like walking into a McDonald’s restaurant and seeing an ad for Burger King.

    Nothing strange about that :):)

Only for maybe a week then you are coming back.

I did this really sloppy photoshop a few years back when we were all in a panic about advertising in the game.

I basically don’t care anymore. My main worry living in Europe this winter is whether I can afford to juice up my gaming rig with some astronomically expensive electricity. Just thought it was funny to see the Amazon logo in a Microsoft game. Strange times indeed.

Maybe it's a way of attracting Amazon Prime customers, including New World players, to ESO.

Yep, like having the McDonald’s logo in a Burger King restaurant, to get customers from McDonald’s to feel more at home when eating at Burger King. That makes sense from a capitalist perspective :):)
