Can a Stock Exchange work in ESO?

Trading Guilds will be the "Corporations".
Only vetted and reputable Trading Guilds may issue stock.
For sale to guildies and non guildies.

Can this work in ESO?

What if I go north? Disappear.
Would you come after me?

IM not sure.. I can see it working short term maybe on loans for trader location fees but long term would break it. theres only what 7% or something going to guild from sales? If you were to sell off shares I's assume you'd want a piece of that but then comes the problem... the guild is no longer getting enough money to pay for traders! So if the shareholders were also responsible for theyre shares of the fees then it might work but that wont work because theres no garentee they even have a dime to cover it.

    So.. imo wont work :)

*edit* It could however MAYBE work if there was some sort of system in place where if you payed your portion this week based on your share % then you collect the next weeks profits otherwise not.. This system MIGHT work and could produce some profits and drive to improve the guild sales by the shareholders via marketing and refining of members etc.. It may also open up possible abuse which would require much more thinking that I havent done yet so early in the morning =p

Nah, IMO this game is too fantasy oriented for the concept of an in-game stock exchange to exist. If any game were to implement something like this, it'd be GTA Online. Now that would make sense.

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Doubt it could work. Players in top guilds subsidize the weekly bid because the guild share of the sale is insufficient for the most competitive trading locations. So there is no profit to support a reason to buy stocks.

Guild traders as they currently exist are most like farmers markets or consignment retailers than actual corporations.

Guilds don't actually have the ability to produce much of anything and for a stock market to work you would have to shift means of production in part from individuals to guilds. Then you would have to add in tools for issuance of stock and selling and trading of it and other lending mechanisms along with the ability to enforce such mechanics.

I just see it as a mess of programming that zos doesn't have time for.

I lose 5 million out of my own pocket every week to fully support 2 trader guild's bids and that cost is increasing lately. I also donate approximately 2 million more gold per week to 8 other trade guilds to help them out with their trader bids.

Just join a trading guild if you wish to have a stake in it and donate some gold to help with the cost of getting a trader. Don't forget to list some things for sale in the guild store even if your guild dose not have a public trader this is helpful to others in your guilds.

I really don't see the point in adding such a complicated system that could break the trading system.

shareholders would dictate what an item sells for if there was a stock market. Those with the most money would own stock in the guilds and *** that members of the guild can only sell their items at such and such a price. Said stock holders would then purchase said items and resell them in their guild at the price they dictate. The stranglehold on the game would be much worse than it is now.

Do you understand that there is no full-fledged open economy in this game? You know that guild owners build all accounting reports using addons, because ZOS has not introduced a single guild management tool. Gotta say I don't reeeeaaaaally see the point of any kind of stock exchange. It doesn't seem like a system that would work well with what ESO has, and besides, a stock market wouldn't make any sense lore-wise. Guild traders make sense because large established guilds could easily afford third-party individuals to help them buy and sell things from others, but a stock exchange...just doesn't really fit well with a fantasy theme where the main "setting" is very Medieval (in that despite very futuristic stuff like Dwemer/Clockwork tech, the Battle Spire, etc, most of Tamriel at least relies on stuff like carts and farm animals and all).

If I have to ever design how resources are spent in a world, I sure won't use any system in this current real world to model after because they are all broken, outdated, and wasteful.

People love complaining about broken games but it's because they have to follow the broken real world that they compromise their robustness and quality.
