Mara's Balm doesn't make PvP unplayable, but there has been a decided increase in disconnect and lag since the set was introduced, and Mara's Balm tanks are not worth fighting, so just have to ignore them.

The set is grossly broken. We'll see what kind of adjustments they make to it so it might be a reasonable set to exist in game. They never should have let the set go live in it's current state, and it was posted about it a month before it went live so they had plenty of time to make adjustments prior to going live.

the set is broken, and even with the proposed changes I think it will still be broken. this set enables troll tanks to troll further and operate seige, set seige on fire, stand on capture points, etc. they always do this away from crowds so they can't be killed by vicious death/occult overload procs. probably your main hope is to get a bursty dk with corrosive to help kill them, but having to rely on a CLASS to be somewhere because someone is wearing a SET isn't good pvp design.

in the manner that people are using this set, no it does not kill PVP, as the mara's set abusers aren't able to participate in normal pvp, but in the circumstances where we are capturing points in small numbers or they are distracting large amounts of players who only wind up getting like 2 AP if the person dies, it can be annoying to deal with.

The broken state of the set was pointed out during the first week on PTS, but it made it to the release. ZoS love make problems and then 'fix' them, instead of not making them.

They just treat live Cyrodiil like a test server and have done for at least 2 years.

They also really push to shift the balance every 3-6 months because they feel respecing is an important part of the game play loop.

Thing is this creates a pvp community where a small number of hardcore players dominate because they keep up to date with changes and are prepared to go to the effort of changing things up to keep on top. That effort isnt just respecing- it means having a dozen max rank characters and switching classes based on what's hot rn.

I cant imagine it's too fun for new players. They get their asses handed to them for months, finally figure out a build that they can make work and then find a month or two later that that build is now useless and quite often that the class they've been playing is now severely underperforming.

Just my 2 cents, would be interested to here how the team feels about pvp in 2022.

I was during the last mayhem, but because I joined a guild ball group in Ravenwatch and was running oakensoul-poison armor-DK build. As I said before, PvP, trials and dungeon in this game can only be fun due to people you are grouping with. Nothing in the game is fun because of content, thanks to ugly combat and constant nerfs and broken sets.

It makes it more playable if you're a fringe player and like standing in one place doing nothing. For everyone else, every Mara troll means one less enemy that is a threat to your safety. Walk away from them, and focus the squishies.

I don't PVP that much, so my opinion isn't very valuable, but I think that PVP is made unplayable by its design where it tries to share sets, skills and mechanics with PVE. Lag and broken sets are just some penguins on that iceberg.

PvP in U35 is as unplayable as Trials are in U35.
I loved ESO, but it is going down the drain for 3 years now.
For me, it feels like some devs get paid to ruin the game for us.

They always do this. A set that has been flagged by the community on PTS as broken. ZOS release it anyway. People either farm it or change their builds to fight it. Boom, ZOS nerfs it and updates others. Palyers who farmed it feel it was a waste of time and everyone has to change their builds again.

Same for many PVE sets. At this point I am convinced ZOS considers this a feature and thinks it keeps people engaged.

Imho I think updates should happen twice a year rather than every 3 months
Updates constantly shifting the goalpost is a real pain in the neck
(but I have a much lower opinion of it)

Did they post the proposed changes anywhere? Because I'm afraid they're only going to lower the healing and not add a cooldown. A cooldown is what is needed.

ZOS does give an impression that if there's a choice between players enjoying their 7 hours a week of productive and fun gameplay and them being frustrated and bored by chewing a cactus for 8 hours they just go with whatever gives longer "logged in hours".

I stopped and did not go PVP, after my favorite HA build was nerfed and get PVE only sets and skills.

I have some better sets and another builds, but I do not feel good about such changes.

So I let people enjoy tank meta in PVP, that they want do much by nerfing players who fight vs tanky players;)

It's a lack of understanding the impact of sets like Mara's Balm that leads to one manufactured crisis after the other in pvp. Please stop treating the live server like a test server.
