Yeah, that isn't true as the other person said. I've had a fair few from the Southern part of the map.

Thing is, I went back and after an hour, my upper level guy got one --- fortified, but he got one....
Went back again, and over 3 hours, my lower level guy found one ruby ash log... again, definitely NOT something he should have found.
Then again, that character seems to have something with harvesting, anyways..... sometimes I hit the E, it goes gray, and then he stands there like he forgot why he came in the room.

If another player who is at the rubedite level (either character level 50 cp 160+ or has passive 10/10 for Blacksmithing) “looks” in a rubedite node, it will stay as rubedite until it resets. It will also contain anything they left behind. Just like a chest.
I’ve found wood nodes that only contain a plant furnishing, for example, which shouldn’t normally happen. I assume the player who got there first took the mats and left the furnishing behind.
It has changed years ago.Hasenpfote wrote: »So they have changed this. I have not seen the change in the patch notes, so i thought it is still present.

I don't think there's a minimum level requirement to find nirncrux. I've found it on a character around level 25 and done big gathering sweeps on my level 50 mastercrafter and gotten nothing. It's a rare drop so it's not surprising you didn't see any.
(Incidentally a computer doesn't care what the icon is and can't 'see' them in any meaningful way so it couldn't mix up two red ores, if anything it would give you an item with a similar item ID, but according to UESP Nirncrux have the item IDs 56863 (potent) and 56862 (fortified) and rubedite ore is 71198 so that seems unlikely.)Prof_Bawbag wrote: »Hasenpfote wrote: »Keep in mind, that onle northern craglehorn is able to drop these, southern does not.

It used to be true when Craglorn first came out, but it was changed years ago.
I'm not sure of the exact reason but I suspect part of it is that the separation between upper and lower Craglorn isn't obvious or all that meaningful any more. I didn't get there until after it had been changed and I really struggled to see where the divide was. Same with following the quest chain, yes I started with ones nearer Belkarth and then was sent further out, but that's not unusual and there was no point where it was obviously 'a new area has just opened up and now we can continue into it'.
It's good the map and quests were designed to work that way, but it does mean if someone told me I need to go to upper Craglorn to find nirncrux I wouldn't actually know which part/s of the map to search.
