I’ve been recommended to use aui but I heard a lot of good things about lui. What is the best ui addon to use out there ?

Typically, I would tend to lean toward Bandtis UI and Perfect Pixel as my go-to UI addons. UI addons you will get recommended will come almost entirely from personal preference as most of them all do the same or very similar things.

My suggestion between AUI, BUI, and LUI: try them all (obviously not all at the same time, only have one active at a time) over a couple weeks and then setting on the one you prefer.

Does bandits and perfect pixel work together or separately?

I agree that it's all down to personal preference and the best way to find the right one for you is to try and few and see which you prefer. Although it's important to take the time to set them up and get used to them before making a decision. There's been many addons where my first reaction is it's totally wrong for me, then once I've gone through the settings it looks far better.

There's also the option of using a few more specialist addons instead of one big one. I use Votan's minimap, S'rendarr for buffs and Azurah for other changes because I prefer the end result to any of the combined UI addons and it lets me pick the features I want and skip ones I'm not interested in.

Thanks for bringing this up. I totally agree with you about the addon setup.
Most addons were created by us devs for personal usage and they were created for the personal usecases, ideas and handling. After that they get new features asked by others, new/improved UIs and settings. So the basic setup often is not what "all"/"majority" would use, and you need to take your time to setup everything the way you like it to look. There is no 100% fit for all of us.

I personally do not use any big UI changer addons (except PerfectPixel as I like how it makes inventory lists, and other UI parts "bigger"). But total overhaul UIs like Hoft's addons and others are a mess for me as they include so many not needed features (for me at least) + code that will trigger each time and slow everything down where there absolutely is no need for (imho).

So I'm with Azurah (move the vanilla UI controls to show the attribute bars in a pyramid e.g.) , Perfect Pixel, Votans Minimap and Action Duration Reminder. That's it. All other is base vanilla UI for me. Makes reloading the UI fast and loading screens short.

If I want to do crafting I use "Addon Selector" to load crafting related addons from a saved profile/Pack. Same for other usecases like developing addons, researching items on a char etc. Having ONLY the needed addons enabled makes the game stable, fast and smooth. if you bloat everthing up with total UI changes where 90% are only needed within a raid etc: It's a mess imho.

But I'm not playing Raids/Trials (my time is invested into addons, so there is no time left for the game o:):p ), that's why Srendar and other addons, or maybe even total UI changer addons, would fit better for "your" (you all) usecase.
