As this was not mentioned in the patch notes, or I may have overread it:
There came a new keybind at the addon manager that says "Clear unused keybinds".
Be warned that this will reset all keybinds of currently unloaded addons too!
A dialog will ask you if you really want to do so, but we all know how fast these dialogs will be accepted (unerad...).
As an explanation why this was added:
The game only provides 100 keybinds in total which are named "custom".
Custom keybinds are not only new added keybinds by addons, but also each base game keybind that you will change. e.g. the default "move forward" keybind will be changed to
something else? +1 custom keybind was used! -1 custom keybinds in total, will be subtracted from the possible max custom keybinds 100.
Below the addon manager and at the keybind controls you are able to see the number of <current custom keybinds used> / total custom keybinds (100).
If the custom keybinds are at 100 you cannot save any new keybinds. They might show as if they were saved (if ZOs has not changed that too with the current patch!) but actually they do not save. You will notice that after next reloadui -> they do not function anymore.
Means: Each assignment of a new keybind, no matter if addon related or change of vanilla keybind = -1 custom keybinds
100 custom keybinds in total
If none left: Nothing saved anymore until you free custom keybinds again.
To free custom keybinds:
Either reset to default keybinds at the keybind controls, so that custom keybinds for default vanilla keys get removed again to the defaults.
This also applies to gamepad controls you change allthough you do not even play by gamepad! So leave them as they are at default if you do not use any controller.
Or you click the "clear unused keybinds" button at the addon manager. The game will check those custom keybinds and remove those of addons that currently are not loaded.
Means if you have not loaded all your relevant addons at the time you click that keybind you will unset the keybinds of those addons!
Hope this clarifies the keybinds a bit.
