I haven't tested it on the PTS, but from what I've read from people who have, it sounds like the new hourglass furnishing isn't going to work the way I had hoped when I first heard about it.
It seems we will have to choose from an existing menu the time of day we want to lock into our houses.

I was hoping it would work in a way such that we could activate it at a particular moment of our own choosing, when certain environmental conditions are in effect.

For example, a nighttime thunderstorm.

I just told some folks at work that it takes me about 2 hours to leave my home (I'm kind of homebound)...I was too ashamed to ever mention it before...

rarely do I share some of my struggles, thankfully more often though now that I am in therapy...

there's so many of us just trying to make it from day to day...sometimes moment to moment...

my thoughts are with you...

saying some things aloud can feel like the chains around you are breaking, well, at least loosening up a bit

I've taken to having ocean waves on in the background a lot...

I've used the sound of rain and thunder though also to help ease things...

Not sure where they got the sounds for the thunder and lightning in ESO, but it is rather soothing. Combine it with the ingame music of some of the zones and I can just sit there for a while listening to the rain on my headphones.

hard to explain, hard to understand unless "you know"...the rain is inside of you...you are the rain...no doubt that probably sounds odd as heck to most, but there it is...

Get copies of Matt Haig’s THE COMFORT BOOK and REASONS TO STAY ALIVE. Read them. They will help.

I had severe depression 2 times, both times they lasted a year or more.
First time SSRI antidepressant helped.
Second time SNRI + tricyclic antidepressants in high dozes helped.
Gaming also helps, my goal is 3 hours of gaming per day.

Agree so much OP.
I wish there was a better way to predict where and when it would fall.
Seems to me the newer zones it's more prominent?
For example in Elsweyr I hear it more than I can actually see any drops.
But in Blackwood or High Isle its much more visible and lovely, more thunder too
