Whitestrake’s Mayhem has to be the stalest event of ESO

The rewards are bad. The requirements for tickets hasn’t changed in years. Even the gankers have to be sleepwalking through these twelve days.

No, the gankers are having fun. The gankers aren’t ganking you for event tickets lol.

Honestly the controversy of this event comes down to only one thing: people who like pvp -v- people who don’t. Let’s stop bringing up smaller supporting points that, while some may be true, are only ultimately brought up to further our own agendas. That is what has gotten stale to me.

People want to make deep philosophical insights into a video game, why it does what it does, why this is how it is, why should anyone have to participate or whether the rewards are good… if you don’t like it don’t do it.

The people that REALLY like this event like it because they’ve always pvped and now it’s more populated and yes more fun because of the occasional easy to kill opponent. We’re not here for tickets and we’re not here to grief you. We were here before mid year and we’ll be here the day after. You only imagine the toxicity is centered around you because frankly that’s what people tend to imagine and because you have no idea what it’s like when you aren’t around.

I can only speak for myself here but that's funny to me because I always look forward to MYM because of all the new action and double AP, but whenever it finally comes, I hate it and want it to end asap (99% of the reason being bad performance).

I still have fun overall though kinda, but I did just miss a 100k tick from an hour long defence because I crashed after the fight ended and didn't get credit when I logged back in before the tick, because my presence in the fight was erased I guess.

I wouldn't call it the stalest, too much competition for that dubious title. It certainly seems the most intimidating event for much of the eso population though.

I like the rewards, and enjoy Midyear/Whitesrikes mayhem. PVP focus makes the event exciting.

I understand the frustration of getting ganked when just trying to get those daily tickets, but there are enough low population campaigns that can be chosen to acquire easy tickets.

PVP is something a player has to spend time learning. I was very resistant to pvp when I started playing eso, I grew to enjoy it very much. I hope players give it a earnest chance, and are not influenced overmuch by the negatively toward it without making up their own minds about it first.

That's fine if you don't particularly enjoy this event. It would be very difficult to obtain 100% satisfaction from every player on every single event. However, there are a lot of players who enjoy it very much. I also think many players enjoy events for the extra perks of double xp/ap, double resource nodes, or as something different to do, etc. Those are a reward in itself.

I am one of those that will admit I HATE MYM and PvP. Maybe I wouldn't suck so bad if I went through the pain of changing all my Champ points every time I went into PvP then having to change them back for PvE. I also barely have time to grind good gear for PvE before BiS is changed every 3 months, so grinding PvP gear ...nope not happening.

Here is an idea for us PvE players for this event ....put in one mission in Cyro behind the Main bases? So if we want to mindlessly get our tickets we can? Imp city isnt such a big deal...go up to Arena and just sit on the wall to "Free Citizens".

I keep asking ZOS to let us get all 3 event tickets from a single daily like they did for one MYM. They keep not doing it, so while I think doing the six Imperial City dailies two or three times a year is the stalest part of Whitestrakes and IC/Year One Celebration, clearly they don't agree.

Well, I always enjoy the event, but I love Cyrodiil. If you are only into it for the event tickets and style pages then I could understand that, but I’d say that itself is the stale foundation of the events.

I am a PvE player except for the PvP events when they roll around. Then, I respec, get gear out of storage, and commit myself to participating in the event. I really enjoy it. I won’t participate year round because I’m not *that* into PvP, but special rules and events encourage people like me to more fully explore that game pillar.
Please, don’t change a PvP event because of the whims of the PvE crowd. We do that enough to their gameplay with PvP balance being so reliant on PvE balance. Let the PvP crowd have something.

Although the rewards from the boxes could certainly be better, I've always really enjoyed midyear mayhem.

I'm a PVE player turned PVE/PVP'er BECAUSE of midyear mayhem, and I make sure to participate every year. I live for the sense of camaraderie that forms between players in the smaller campaigns and have met some of the nicest people I know while helping others push for EMP. When you spend several days fighting tooth and nail against the other factions with the same people, a sense of loyalty and great friendships tend to form where we're all really devoted to helping each other. It's not all gankers and jerks out there.

I also try to avoid killing questers- but sometimes it can't be avoided when you get caught up in the middle of a siege and you're too close to a fort or resource that's under attack. Interestingly enough, I often see questers killing eachother out there. It isn't just PVP players doing it- questers have fired on me when I turn my back and leave them alone, and I also see them mowing down their own kind all the time. I'll avoid a quester only to see another quester kill them, complete their quest, and run off.

I've also spent some time escorting questers in my faction, teaching them to move across the map in ways that avoid getting them killed so that they can do scouting missions. My advice? If you don't want to get killed, don't go to the towns where PVP players are going to play and know where you are. When you scout, the route you take on the map is open and up to you- if you learn how to read the signs that a fight is nearby, you can move through cyro without ever seeing an enemy player even when a war is raging. That's not a 100% guarantee, but it IS possible to avoid getting killed.

So...yeah, it's not just gankers enjoying this event. It would be great if we could better rewards, but the experience in and of itself of meeting some great people in my faction has been very rewarding for me. It NEVER gets old for me and my only regret is that I cant participate more this year.

The true reward of the MYM is the double AP bonus, which is awesome for people who can't spend a lot of time PvPing, and can get some rank progress, or tier rewards for the campaign. Plus, it's the busiest time in Cyro which in the past couple of years has been seeing dwindling populations. The performance is not great, I'll give you that, I've crashed a few times during big fights and though I don't mind the crash, I dp mind the hour-long queue I have to wait again when I log back in. But so far there have been so many fun and chaotic fights, and it's a blast overall.

To be honest, I am rather disappointed in the gankers .... you all been falling down on the job.
I need my free teleports back to my homebase after I finish a mission --- and it's not hard, I am deliberately using lower level characters to run those .... and I deliberately choose maps of 50+ and with good populations on them - too much and it lags, despite my system being top end.

The other day, I finished my mission with a level 20 wood elf warden, and saw one of the groups attacking a nearby fortress.... I was yellow faction, you all were blue. So, I came over to get my free teleport, and after running through your group 3 TIMES..... was still not looking at that sweet teleport screen. So.... I started tossing bugs at some of you..... and it still took nearly 3 minutes before one of you got off your duff and did your job. I deliberately switched targets a couple of times, as my flies were starting to have an effect ......

Next time, do your job and give me my teleport.....

Yes, the event rewards are kinda meh, but they always are. The PvP rewards are quite good however, as they have always been. If it wasn't for me not wanting to PvP at all, I'd PvP constantly due to the high rewards.
So far I have not found the markings yet either, and I did atleast a full Cyrodiil town every day. Even five and six full towns today and yesterday, hoping to get the markings. The droprate on those seems to be too low.

Getting the new dufort style pages is another story, to me it seemed like the dufort pages were on a 48h timer. Luckily I got five different dufort style pages, and bought the final two with tickets. Decided to buy the final two style pages as the work and stay in the IC to camp the bosses, wasn't fun at all. The first week of the event I had quite a lot of fun in the IC though, just PvPing other players.

There are many reason for why players do not like PvP. Many reasons of which some might have nothing to do with PvP at all. For some reason PvPers mostly look at balance and PvP itself as the issue for players not wanting to PvP.

My personal reason is that I am now a bit older, and that fast gameplay is no longer for me. But when I was younger I used to play a PvP oriented action mmo game for over a decade, much much faster than ESO, and where you could be attacked everywhere anytime because the entire world was PvP. An old game which looks dated now, but it still has the best, most open, and fastest PvP in any game I have ever encountered.

But you are right on this: For those who haven't tried PvP, try it. Because you might like it very much, and even though I do no longer like PvP, I did still have fun moments in PvP.

PS: Alliance rank should be accountwide.
PPS: With the new companions, I do feel like I am missing out on leveling my companions whenever I am questing in a PvP zone.

PS: Alliance rank should be accountwide.

No thank you. With all due respect, after account wide achievements went live I like having something I can work towards on each individual character I have. I do not want my alliance rank to count towards other characters I am still working on, as I do not feel my AD and DC characters should have the ranks of my main EP PVP character. I don't PVP on those characters and do not want their ranks advanced- I don't fight on those factions and don't want account wide alliance ranks to make it seem like I do. Nor do I want the alliance ranks of my other EP characters advanced. I dislike account wide achievements and would like to retain at least one aspect of the game that requires effort to earn on each character.

AFAIK, the only event-specific rewards that can drop in the event boxes, other than the dog bones, are the markings.

If you want any of the style pages, you need to kill IC district and sewer bosses.

Sitting on the wall can get you easily killed. Too many easy ways to attack upward, while very limited (and dangerous) ones to attack down.

You can sit in the center and get them, completely protected, but that relies on others freeing the 2 citizens you will get credit for. Not a great play option.

They could just tie the tickets to using the item for the event, as they do with the birthday cake.

That would remove the frustration immediately, at least the mandatory part, and leave all the other rewards for others.

As a previous reply notes, gankers aren't doing that for tickets.

I feel ya on this. I'm always excited the day before. I was especially excited this year because of the improvements to the PCNA servers (which had their issues but were far better than I can recall in years).

The first few days are loads of fun but then it settles down into a rut where each campaign does it's thing for one faction at a time and you can't get into the main camps because they are jam packed. After about the first week end I'll log on to find myself fighting an entire faction by myself for a few hours followed by watching my faction steamroll the map with no opposition in sight. Assuming I ever come back I'll be sure to remember that it's only really worth logging on during primetime for maybe the first weekend at most.
