Doing Damage with a Bow?

Hello,

Any good ideas how to do more damage with a bow. Yup, my Pen sucks.

I use Focused Aim, Poison Injection along with a Brutality Poison....along with light attacks and heavy. I use Race against time to help my crit, but over all, I seem to be tickling people.
Toxic Barrage I find rarely hits anyone for the full 4 seconds....hmmm
Set wise - suggestions?

Against large groups I definitely have issues hitting the same target....more or less a random shot...

I don't expect a bow to do as much as a 2H or 1H weapon - or can it be?

Thotz?

Tankz,

Z

Perhaps this is why I have so much trouble with bow...not supplying info!

    Templar (64 stam)

I use Bee Keepers (5pc) and Pariah (5pc)...why...trying to live for more than a minute in Cyrodiil

the 6% save on stam abilities is nice....but otherwise, I am better off throwing insults from a keep wall than trying to use my bow.

I would ditch Bee Keepers and get your health up by reducing your Stam and having some prismatic glyphs on your chest, legs and head pieces. Something over 30k is enough if you have good resistances. Also, stage 3 vamp gives good damage resistance if you want.

Change Bee Keepers to a damage set. I've used Spriggans to get more pen on a bow toon, but sets like Swamp Raider and Witch-Knight's could increase your weapon damage with poison abilities.

My stamplar doesn't use a bow, but I back-bar Pariah with a sword-and-board so I can go into defensive mode, but then front-bar an offensive set for when I go on the attack (I use Deadly Strike). This means that alongside a monster set, I have two more slots I can use - 1 piece of trainee for the health boost and 1 for a mythic.

Bow in PvP can be tough, whatever the class or whatever you choose to wear.
I leveled up two Bow Chars this event already to lvl6 Alliance skill line. The difficult one was the Nightblade Bow build. I had to switch to Plaguebreak+Spriggan's+Oakensoul with Acid Spray as Spammable. It was really bad before, because most of the time my singke target skills didn't land, or took too long because of cast time. So I died a lot. Didn't do much damage, either.
However the night before I leveld a StamSorc Bow build up and whoa, what a difference. Almost all attacks actually landed, because the main damage comes from boosted light attacks.

So, what I take away from last night, is boost light attack, stay at range and bugger off, if they attack you!

My recommendation for a StamPlar Bow build would be the same combi as above. Crushing Weapon for single target, because LAs land more reliably than abilities. Acid Spray to proc AoE Plaguebreak. Honor the Dead, Power of the Light and a Turn Evil to reveal thise pesky Gankers. Bow Ultimate is a guaranteed Kill. Stack in Spell Damage and keep PotL up.

    And Keep At Range.
If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

Bow ulti is also great fun in combination with the occult overload CP and vicious death when applied to tight groups.

Honestly for PvP bows are best used on people that either stealth a lot or kite a lot and move fast while doing it. So basically if you aren't semi ganking its not great.

If I were you I'd use the bow as a buff bar, maybe slot poison injection, but otherwise roll dodge heal and barswap to go back on offense.

The gear you describe is too tanky to do any damage. Especially when bows are underpowered to begin with. Meaning they have a lower base weapon damage than most other things.

You need to get to 5 or 6k weapon damage to do good damage in PvP. With a bow that basically means 2 damage sets.
