Weird progress on ranked competitive

I just started the ranked ToT for this month, I lost the first two games and I leveled up anyway. 
How is this possible? It doesn't make any sense. Looks like if I keep playing badly I'll level up anyway.
Is this a bug or some nonsense condescending support? Shouldn't we lose points by losing a match?

Tuonra2✭✭✭This is evidence of hidden mmr and a separate, season rank. So we can assume season rank gets reset while mmr doesn't. so now the rank algorythm has to work to make up the difference asap. It's pretty weird but your mmr probably went down for the losses, just your rank is still catching up to this, now lower, mmr.

✭It's working fine now on Quicksilver. I just lost a match and noticed that I also lost 100 points. But in the first games it was always leveling up even when I was losing.
