I really hate the idea of the Mora's Whispers mythic

"Gain up to 10% increased Alliance rank and alliance skill line based on how many blah blah blah..."

This is the equivilant of giving me a mythic that says "Get a 10% chance at a second drop from vet trial bosses, this gear cannot be traded with your team mates".

My standards are pretty low- as long as a team mate is trying I'll fight by their side.

But this? It's completely selfish, it's making your build worse just so you can get paid slightly better. And I'm supposed to fight alongside these people in Cyrodiil and Battlegrounds? I'm expected to rez them when they die? When they chose to be selfish and wear this over something that might actually help us win fights?

ZOS just treats pvp like a joke. Theres no way they'd add a group pve equivilant of this. I have no problem with War Torte- it stacks with actual food, it doesn't make them less effective teammates. But this is just..... stupid is putting it nicely.

I'm confused - you are mad at a Mythic that gives the wearer extra XP for certain skill lines?

It also gives them more crit so there is a damage boos component in there.

What am I missing?

It’s actually pretty strong mystic for pve, mostly for crit chance though. In pvp it isn’t the best option but extra crit could be useful too. Just keep in mind you aren’t getting more ap by wearing it, just more xp to your alliance rank. And in any case there are so many bad builds out there 1 set won’t make any difference.

100% this. I have seen people run single rings from various sets, thinking they were awesome cos they were golded out rings... no clue about set bonuses etc. That is definitely worse than donning a mythic that gives you extra crit

I guess I'm confused as to the problem. If you are playing with random players in PVP, you have no guarantee that they are wearing good gear anyway or even that they know what to do. I guess I see too many players in Cyrodiil who would prefer to chase kills outside the keep walls instead of supporting the people who are sieging the keep open that a little bit of selfishness in gear choice doesn't phase me. (Especially during Whitestrake's Mayhem when so many players can't be bothered to put on PVP gear at all even though it would help them way more than it helps me....but I digress.)

Now, if my guildmate decided they were going to wear this instead of the Monster set they were supposed to be wearing during guild raid night, yeah I'd be annoyed. But that's because we all agreed to run certain gear for guild raid night, so that's an overtly selfish decision.

Random players, on the other hand, I'm kind of just glad if they get off my siege when they're done firing it.

Screw that mythic tbh. It doesn't do nearly enough to compensate for how painful it is to grab all those books per charcater. Especially on console.

Personally wearing it temporarily while I work toward Grand Overlord on my main. The added crit chance is nice. But I also farmed all books prior to this mythic even existing.

I will say, if wearing this mythic is the reason someone is dying, the rest of their build is probably pretty trash to begin with.

Maybe chill out. It's just one piece of gear. If they can build for PVP and coordinate and know how/when to use siege weapons and what not, what's it matter?

That Mythic does help the teammates win fights. I think the problem with the complaint is, how to put this... RT-M. "Manual" here referring to the item description. Because it has other effects that you might want to consider noticing at some point.

Does that mean it's a particularly good item? Probably not for PvP. But it gives you some stats that matter in a fight, making you fight slightly better.

I love the mythic. It provides more crit that Kilt, and it's amazing on khajiit who already have a crit-damage bonus. The extra XP is a bonus, and you DO get extra XP from killing monsters with it. It's like 15% more xp from monster kills, which is a pve-related bonus. It's alright to have selfish mythics that aren't for the average joe in ESO. Pale Order, Malacath, and a few others are pretty selfish. Pale order is probably THE most selfish mythic imo. You don't have to wear it or farm it if you don't want to. It's there for those who want to use the mythic.
