Group Questing

I've just played the first steps of my new adventure. Trying it out with a friend showed me a little annoyance in the game.

We were in a group together, but still had to choose, accept and do all quests ourselves, rather than having us both participate in the same. It feels like we were both playing on our own, with the only advantage of having direct communication via the group chat.

One of the first quests we did was to retrieve a bottle from a bar. We both needed to take the steps in order to distract the bartender, then we both had distract him and both individually had to steal the bottle, rather than working together on this matter.

I'm not sure if this will be changed at any point, but it really feels like an annoyance to me and totally destroys the reason to create a group.

I thought I'd bring this to the attention at the forums, to see if developers are working to fix this, or if anybody els has andy thoughts/ideas or a solution for this. Or if anybody could tell me what we're doing wrong. I would like to add that we did share the quest. My friend had accepted them and shared them with me in order for me to see the markers and speak to the people I was suppose to speak to.

In any case I hope someone could either help me with this or can solve this, cause for me this really is a game breaker.

Thanks in advance!

When quests get a bit harder you will see the use of grouping. At like lvl 12 I found some super hard areas that I could not do without a group and I'm sure there will be more of that as the lvls go up. I hope they change it but I feel like the thought you would solo the first 10 lvls.

In Beta that wasn't the case, there was a quest at around level 12 that everyone was failing because it was so hard to do solo. So if they haven't changed it be prepared to die alot....

Group questing as it stands is a right pain in the ass, you can only really share objectives when those are limited to killing mobs, anything else that involves dialogue or interacting with objects/npc's needs for every member in the group to do it.

It's also a shame most mmo's dont take SWTOR's approach to dialogue while grouped, the multiplayer dialogue choices brought a lot to group play.

I did love the SWTOR's dialog system, and group system. One of the best I've found in an MMO so far. It wouldn't hurt to see that or something similar back in ESO.

Yeah SWTOR had epic group questing, everyone being in the conversation was a neat trick. Only issue was if you were looking for outcome. I don't think I would want elder scrolls online to force you to roll on if someone lives or dies, based on what the group picked in the quest.

Actually SWTOR didn't force you into anything. Sure the gameplay would show that the person would have died, but the game remembers which option you had chosen and rewards you with points according to your choice.

in dungeons the active quest system is already in place. would be cool if they would add the same to general quests :)

Group questing is currently very rudimentary and only present in name. "Group questing" is just solo questing with group chat. Half the time when you zone into a new place you can't even see your groupmates. You cannot see the stages of the quest they may be stuck on if you or they get ahead of the other. Shared quests need to be shared quests.

    Please fix
