Card Clues Drop Rate!

Seriously,
I hate so much this RNG luck based [SNIP] card game, but as achiv hunter need to finish those annoy achivs, now only 1 left «Card Cannoisseur» and clues not dropping and aside of 1 bugged clue i still have 5 others to collect. Today i played [SNIP] on my 4 alts, looted 35+ rewards cofres and got 0 clues and it's already 3rd day of the same routine. [SNIP]

i agree the drop rates on some of these things are far too low

i just received my first furnishing painting item from tribute games and im almost rank 6 only playing npcs

gotten maybe 4-5 clues out of the 17 that are there

In fact, I would have completed it like two weeks ago If it wasn't that I had to wait for the bugged Legion's Arrival clue (fixed yesterday).

You are having really bad luck with your drops.

I have done about 18 dailies so far since the update and haven't found my Legion's Arrival clue. It's good to gather data for drop rates, but from my perspective the drop rates are fairly low and I'd say you got extremely lucky compared to the drop rates being relatively high and others having poor RNG as in your example.

With only one clue to collect for many that were done with the others ahead of time, it would be impossible for one person to determine the drop rate based on just that one drop, especially if you factor in the recent change to make the epic quality. It's still unknown if that affected the drop rates or not.

i play like 8..10 games each every day.
so i can estimate my games played as 350..380 (i don't track these in a spreadsheet or such)
First 8 clues (these were blue) dropped from the green victory coffers.
Lately i have received 3 purple clues, these dropped from blue coffers.
The statistics is too low to make any conclusions. My stats is like 1:30 (i exclude white "defeat" coffers as i lose sometimes)
Also i have got only two tapestries so far. So they are even more rare than clues for me 1:150

a speculation: one single day i may get like 2 clues, but after i get a clue - next two days i have not get another one.
this, of course, might be RNG, because you cannot collect hundreds of containers a day (as matches take like 10-15 minutes each), but it might be a 3-day cooldown as well, or triggered by some number of victory coffers (as this also fits 1:30 - 10 matches a day gives 3 days on average). We never know. So only collective experience might help with drop rates, i hope.

Only if you aren't playing efficiently. A win against NPCs should take you 1:30-2 mins.

Nope. There's no limit on how many clues you can pull during the day.

UESP's gathered data shows the rate of around 1 in every 40 boxes, though we're talking still a considerably small sample size (1619 currently), it doesn't differentiate between different rarity coffers and there's no way to know for sure which opened coffers actually had a chance to roll a clue.

Personally, I've seen one, on average, every 15-20 coffers when leveling up (there were days when I would get 2 clues when opening 20+ boxes, consecutive days of pulling clues, etc.), got the 16th clue some 10 games after hitting rank 8.

Every now and then someone comes up with a weird rumour that you can only get one every 20/24 hours (like some motifs). Same was the case with Club Phenom achievement - people making baseless assumptions that you needed to do all 3 matches for it to count, that it was "random", etc. - lots of conspiracy theories based on absolutely nothing and yet that *** spreads like wildfire.

Today i have got another purple clue from a purple rewards container,
so i was wrong about cooldown.

The droprate is pretty low yeah. On the other side, luckily you upgrade them once and then you're done with that forever.

I've done over 100 matches since reaching rank 8. Still missing the last three clues, which I was also missing before rank 7. That's a whole rank plus 100 matches since I saw my last clue.

I wonder if the game is rolling for clues like it used to with Battlegrounds style pages, where it might roll for a clue but if it selects one you already have, you don't get the clue again. It should roll how Battlegrounds style pages now do - if it rolls for a clue, it selects one you don't have so you get something. There's a reason they changed the BG drops.

i managed to get another clue yesterday, and ive been doing the npc daily (3 matches) per day since high isle launch

its been roughly 1 clue drop per 2 weeks for me

7 days of dailies for 3 matches per day is 6 win boxes per day or 42 boxes per week assuming no extra matches played

so i might have upwards of 50 matches per week if i play extra and only getting 1 box in 2 weeks is 100 win boxes worth against npcs

I've had some bad luck in the same position. I need three clues but haven't had a drop in a week. Before then I was averaging a lead every 2-3 days.

I'm rank 4 and a half and I have not received a single clue so far.
I'm starting to think it's just broken for me.

While we are talking clues, can i ask a question please? I haven't played tribute that much, but I have a clue for a deck that I don't own yet. i went to pick it up, but the box wasn't where it was expected to be when I googled it. Can you only pick them up when you have the deck or is it a bug?

ive gotten several clues for decks i dont own yet and have been able to loot them

Try to reframe this in your mind. You are an achievement hunter, I assume that includes those '30 daily quests in zone X' achievements. Now just picture this as one.

I played the first month to finish top 2% and got all the clues at a steady pace over the month.

Now I understand I played the game for the fun and competition and not the chieves, so my patience might have been higher, (and possibly also my winrate if the color of box matters), but if you frame it as a month-long endeavor, I hope you will be exited when you see a clue more than disappointed when you don't.

if your on PC there are some addons that just mark the location on the map

i think it might be something that was added to the "lost treasure" addon that shows locations for surveys/treasure maps

No, they are not the only one with bad luck, I played hundreds of matches and did tons of dailies since release and still miss 5 clues to complete them all!!!

Ive all the other ToT achievements done apart from the one to get the dye and Bragas and the ones to complete upgrades for cards where I won't get the damn clues for.

I’m in the same boat as an achievement hunter. I have 7 clues left… I’ve hit Rubedite rank and max level. Been playing the npc missions every day… it’s been almost 200 boxes since my last clue dropped. The RNG is just very, very bad. I gave the card game a chance and just do not enjoy it at all; which is funny because I loved Gwent in Witcher 3. I can’t wait to get these clues done and never have to play ToT again.

It's as if card games - just like any other genre of games - have sub-genres and can vary a lot even there.

Gwent's nothing like ToT mechanics-wise to begin with. Going in with the expectation that ToT will somehow be similar will do you no good and will leave you extremely disappointed.

Oh, I certainly agree with that. But I did know going into this expansion that they were nothing alike. I was more just referring to a card game being built into the overall game. I personally thought it was an odd addition in both games, but enjoyed it in Witcher 3.

Are there things that I feel ZOS can do to make ToT better? Certainly, and the community has a lot of suggestions. Does the heavy reliance on RNG play and drops frustrate me to the point of not wanting to play? Absolutely, lol. Which ties to the OPs original point of drop rates, which for me have been atrocious overall. Sounds like a few have had good luck though, which is great! Such is the way of RNG.

I’ve collected every upgrade. I got a few from the green boxes from NPC dailies, but I felt like I had a lot better chance of a clue from the blue-quality boxes from the player dailies.

So far I've played every day since launch, doing both the dailies with all 3 wins each on 1 character plus grinded extra games to max level and rank. I've completed all the other ToT achievements short of getting all the upgrade cards. I've probably played and won around 300-350 total between NPC's and players. So far I've found 15 of the clues out of the now 17 from 16. The last one I found was Legion's Arrival yesterday so at least we know it's definitely being dropped. Drop rates though are atrocious indeed lol

I wonder if this is it. I need 1 clue to finish the achievement and have gotten nothing in a while.

I'm 1/3 of the way to rank 5 playing NPC's exclusively.
I have never gotten a card clue.
Only upgrades I've gotten were from rank ups.

It's pretty frustrating feeling like you're spinning your wheels in the mud for dozens of matches a day.

BUT AT LEAST I GET BRAVIL'S BEST BEET RISOTO!

And finally... just miss cards at event, the rest of days kept playing 4-12 games per day collecting 8-16 rewards per day and today got last clue. Dobby if free, until new chapter, where probably they will introduce new decks
