The Equalizer set

Duel Trait Armor: Divine, Impenetrable
Tri Stats Enchant: Same as Hakeijo
Duel Trait Weapon: Defending, Sharpened

1 Piece: 1096 Stamina/Magika
2 Piece: 159 Stamina/Magika Recovery
3 Piece: 129 Weapon/Spell Damage
4 Piece: Minor Aegis + 10% AP Bonus
5 Piece: When hit with death Blow you instead
become stunned for 5 seconds but take no Damage 5 minute cool down.
Major Aegis + 15% AP
This set is only usable until CP 500 level or AP level 25 or level 50 if above CP 500

The set comes Legendary by completing Old Trials for the first time. This will encourage Trial groups to do old content to help gear new players with competitive gear until they are high enough to be able to use normal gear.
The 5 piece set should help players do Vet level without having to worry about the 1 hit mechanics and by being stunned it will teach them to avoid them to keep being able to contribute.
Since it has an expiration date it encourages people to start doing Trails earlier so when they are level ready they will not be as new to the mechanics. It will still give capped players a chance by doing raids on late level 40's, with the increased stats and scaling it should work out decent enough to allow everyone to enjoy trials at some point. The set should help repopulate new zones also by encouraging people to level new characters to be able to experience trials at a less stressful learning experience.

Sets are the actual culprit behind the lion’s share of the very power creep that the are dancing around in such a bizarre way.

Mechanics are something you can watch videos on, practice, and be taught.

    No thank you

lol okay - I'll go make some coffee while my set is on cooldown

Expiration date on sets? Will never happen.

If the goal is to increase Trial participation for new players and help them gear up, then surely there's a better way.

If these stats are not worth using to you then you are not the target for the set so you should not be interested in it.
It is for the people that ZOS is trying to target to be able to do more then they can now. For me personally it would be totally useless since I don't meet the requirements which most people will not on a powerful character or account.

The people it will be useful to are the ones that do not already have trial gear but by having an expiration level then it will not contribute to power creep on already powerful characters. The expiration could be years for the casuals it is meant for since some have been playing 8 years and have never done a trial once.

Aren't there already like 3 sets that act similar to this?

*nods, I get what you are going for.

But mechanics, while some folks might bet frustrated by them, are and have been part of all challenging content from the get. In all games in this space.

In almost a decade here I’ve never seen folks discussing them in such a way, until oakensoul.

They really opened a pandora’s box with it for people’s expectations.

It seriously is not an exaggeration to say that the solution to to getting more people to play chess is not to saw off the tops of all the pieces and play checkers with them.

Mechanics are simply fundamental to this genre of videogame, as much as chess pieces moving and capturing in specific ways.

That it did but it also showed a lot of people really liked being able to be more powerful then they ever could be and actually got to enjoy the game but at the same time totally broke the game by the min/maxers getting a hold of them. I will admit I got it first day and love it but also know in no way should my character be able to use it for the good of the game. Changing up the way they do sets to only benefit the needy may seem extreme but heck look at the alternatives on the PTS...

"the needy" was really bad term, I just meant people that for whatever reason could use extra help.

I think part of this issue is that power creep is in large part due to sets in the first place. If they wanted an equalizer they could transfer part of that to classes/characters themselves.

Instead of doubling down on a mechanic that is only really effective for high APM players (relequens and kinras) buff class and weapon abilities that all players can use and see an appreciable buff with.

I think the best idea here is gear being upgradeable by running content, although it would definitely have an impact on the value of purple/gold crafting materials. I think the scales tip in favor of preserving that aspect of the economy though over another gearing avenue.
