Suggestion: overland lfg

In ESO, there is already a guild category for this request and it's called "Questing", i know.

But i would like to have a system that i can use to do overland content, and perhaps any other content as well, with people who are or aren't in a guild but still look for a group to do things together with.

What i want is essentially the ESO version of the Division 2's "call for backup/answer the call/shepherd" systems, because i see the idea of helping random people do content as my way of an end-game activity. It's not about the rewards, it's about having a purpose other than just doing pvp, dungeons, and trials.

What do you all think?

Isn't this just putting out a message in zone chat?

It would require having more difficulty modes there to justify it at least a little bit as there's not that much "mirrors" running and you can easily find people in chat, if they're willing to join of course.

Maybe, but i was thinking that using an in-game system could make the act of looking for a group faster.

I mean please think about this: Such a system like this, in my opinion, would be faster and better than just writing "if anyone islooking for help in any pve content, feel free to invite me (because i have nothing better to do)". Instead, you could just queue up to help those who would be looking for help through using a system.

It might be easy, but it's too slow for me. I just want to queue up, get in, help however i can, get out, look for someone else to help. And fast. I mean, i can say "how can i help" after i find the person who's looking for help.

I want to do overland missions and complete them with other players, for example, but i do not want to be limited only to my guild mates, through using an in-game lfg system.

Zones in ESO can have multiple copies (that's why there's never a queue to get into a map) and zone chat only reaches people in your copy of the zone, so it's potentially only a tiny fraction even of those in the same area. A LFG system could reach not only people in all copies of the zone but people elsewhere in the game as well who just feel like doing world bosses or whatever and don't mind which map they're on, they could use it to find anyone, anywhere who needs some extras people, rather than hoping they happen to land in the right copy of the right zone at the right time to see a message in chat.

Thank you, I did not know that! I migrated over from another game where the zone chat reached every instance, so I presumed it was the same here - you could also change instances at will, as long as there was room, so for example I could put up a shout saying "lfg dragon farm in instance #12" and everyone would meet there.

So with that in mind; I'd like to change my vote to a yes, OP!

Other than maybe a couple of wbs or dragons.....what would this be needed for? Surely not to kill adds that die when a moth flies into them.

I think something like a LFG board would be a good idea. So that people could post stuff like "LF4M for a trial" or "Need a tank for a nodeath achievement" or "lets kill all bosses in this zone". That would make grouping easier for everyone. :)

We already have this feature. It's called zone chat.

Zone chat by itself is not good enough for me, because of it's limitations.

So what you are saying is, if i am to be helpful enough, i should just travel zone by zone and ask whether if people need my help?

If so, that sounds way too tedious.

Who Needs additional players to do normal Overland Content? The number of players - IMHO - that would be accessing whatever Group Finder was designed for this would be Less than minimal. Its just not Needed to do Overland Content. That's been one of the big complaints - some players want All Overland to be Hard, and its too easy for them.

As well, a very large number of players skip Overland all together and just run past all the enemy NPCs.

I won't monitor zone chat because of all the distracting non-ESO drivel on there. I would, however like a means of helping randoms who need help or sometimes enlisting randoms to help me. There are loads of players (me included) who cannot solo all DLC WBs, dragons or harrowstorms for example.

While I don't play it anymore because even getting to the content is a slog, but FF14 hit the nail on the head with their party finder system and there's no excuse for every game not to just shamelessly copy it.

It's an advanced grouping tool that's like a notice board everyone can access from anywhere so no zone/sharding diluting the pool like good ol Craglorn, you can pick any activity in the game to recruit for and it would let you target specific roles, classes, levels, etc. Plus it let you choose a speed/playstyle so it facilitated pugging of larger group content like the raids where you could have newer players group to learn the mechanics together instead of farmers and noobs tripping over each other and making each other frustrated.

Imagine.... ESO where speedrunner pugs and questing pugs could BOTH do random dungeons however they wanted without ruining each other's day... It's almost too beautiful for this world.

Ppl need help on the overland?

Also doing quests together is a bad idea, because the other player will pogress your quest without you wanting

But tbh i do like the idea,

I've mitigated feelings on that one due to my experience in GW2. There, we have many categories in the LfG tool, by far too many, and in the end, we're never sure where to look for what and it needs to browse all categories...

So I'm for a compromise between too many and not enough. Not sure what one would be optimal, but take care with adding categories. Too many is worst than not enough for me.
I'm out of my mind, feel free to leave a message... PC/NA

Maybe. I've tried getting people to group for dolmens in zones other than Alikr and they just ignore me.
