Tribute NPC games putting me in a group chat

Had this twice tonight while challenging NPC players to tribute. I was playing and noticed the blue group chat icon flashing in the bottom right of my screen, alongside a player name, and I could hear the ambient noise coming from their mic.
After both matches I checked and I was definitely not in a group, and the name in question wasn't anyone from any of my guilds either.
