The Ganker's Pledge

So on the heels of the classic "Nightblade has ruined PvP" thread, I took the time to become one to effectively learn how to counter it (know thine enemy). I will say it's very effective. That being said, this is my pledge to my fellow PvPers:
  • I will NOT gank you if you are activating a Sky Shard.
  • I will NOT gank you if you are picking a lock.
  • I will NOT gank you if you are currently in battle with an area boss (I WILL however probably try and help out...expect me to materialize, wave, and blip out again).
  • I will NOT gank you if it's painfully obvious you're one of many poor PVE only sods who HAVE to be in the PvP area to use your new found keys, or are getting leads.

If you can't tell or not, the above have all happened to me many, many times. While I appreciate the whole factions at war thing, in reality I think we all know it's kinda bogus anyway.

Fellow gankers I implore you...just because it's a different faction doesn't mean YOU have to be unsportsmanlike and manically kill someone just for that reason alone. Take a moment...read the room..are they a threat? If not....maybe just pass them on by....compassion in video games, might just change your attitude in real life ;).

I mostly don't do any of that anyways. Mostly kill 1 v Xers or assassinate people playing in small groups. I did once camp a skyshard after we got gated and I even got someone to pay me to let him through. I don't go out of my way to kill pver's, but sometimes they look like they have telvar on them, so I take it. Pvers don't need telvar anyways!
I wrote a poem that I titled, "The ganker's delight."

As you lay upon the ground, cry not little pawn.
The pain will pass as quickly as my blade did take you,
but my delight will last and you will respawn.
My heart simply cannot contain my joy, when I ply my trade.

The fault lies with you, your skill was lacking.
Now your salt is mine forever, can't you hear the laughing?
Once you were so proud and now you are reduced to this.
    A miserable, loud deuced fool.

With every tear you drip, with every excuse you let slip.
All of your insecurities and worries bring a smile to my lip.
From your despair I have ripped endless glories,
but our affair is over now. Be afraid for I will return for more.

I have received many titles, to my allies I am The sniper Emperor and Grand champion hero of the Pact. However these titles mean little to me, it is the ones given to me by my victims that I prefer. To them I am "Xv1er", "trash", "no balls", "zerger", "noob", "cringe", "no skill", "camper", "100% new", "the reason this game is dying", "pathetic", "a sack of piece of [snip]", "mediocre", "absolute inbred", "beyond a virgin", "ganky dork", "fat smelly 40yr old virgin", "little girl", "daddy", "exploiting loser", and every [snipped] word known to man.

If you think it is suppose to be a level playing field or there are “rules” for ganking then you do not know what ganking is.

Should you also pop out of stealth to warn them you are there first? Oh my world. Lol

Oh I have no illusions of any sort of "rules" in PVP...I'm just trying to humanize the game play there. Because really....when a PvE'r gets there....gets ganked, feels like the just got screwed never to return, you've just removed a possible player from PvP. Because that's EXACTLY what happened to me when I dabbled in PvP area's years ago. I get it...it's a hostile environment and death is a constant threat. None of that makes a difference when you're there to have fun. Want less of a ghost town in IC and Cryo? Stop one-shotting PvE'r the second the get out there ;)

I don't gank, but I also don't ignore enemy players in PVP zones. Doesn't matter to me what you are doing, if you aren't in my alliance, I will try to kill you.

Congratulations on being part of the problem :) No seriously...you are literally looking at what pushes new PvP players away...just look at the other thread "What the heck is happening". Poor guy is just trying to get into it...and BAM dead.

Come prepared to PVP in a PVP zone, or don't come to the zone. Not my fault if you are not prepared to be there.

My first entry to PVP was a trainwreck. I took time to learn and get better, using that first experience as a means to grow from.

To add to that, you aren't doing new players to PVP any good by coddling them. And honestly, I really don't care at all about PVE players who are sightseeing in the zone for skyshards or quests.

You know, I went and found that thread and now I have questions. How is it even relevant to anything here?

That guy was trying to PVP and was getting killed. They weren't PVEing in zone, or skysharding or whatever. They were just getting killed in PVP. So what, am I just not supposed to fight anyone in a PVP zone who may be worse than me at the content.

If I enter a BG and the other players are bad, am I just supposed to let them win because they need a happy PVP experience? If I am in Cyrodil and some guy is trying to take a resource, I just let him do it because I may be better than him and he is distracted.

I don't understand your point here.

I have been ganked on all of that. Just recently I asked IC zone chat how much telvar I needed to get bonus items from a vault. Someone told their friend I guess because a ganker was waiting at the vault for me. I lost 5k telvar.

I was really mad at first, but then I remembered it's just a game and got over it. He wasn't even a good ganker, I was just on a new char and was so scared to lose my telvar that I didn't even fight back and aggrod a good number of npcs trying to get away.

It was pretty funny now that I look back it. Though I'm glad there are some good gankers who aren't that mean.

I take a player activating stealth as an act of war and will respond in kind with a detection pot and the hammer. As much as I wish we could all be civilized and follow some unspoken rules, I've been shanked one too many times out there and can't trust anyone.

PvE-ers are free tel var or AP and should be seen as such. I use them to parse and test my damage.

@Hayblinkin and that makes COMPLETE sense....it really does. How about the inverse though? I've literally gone OUT of stealth to help with a world boss....as soon as it was done the group killed me :) Would you do the same?
  • Hayblinkin

@DigiAngel Yes I would to recoup a slice of the Tel Var you stole from my group by hitting the boss. Why should my enemy profit?

No one likes getting ganked but I expect it at all times. I guess the real issue with NBs isn't what the individual does but more so what a NB is capable of doing. If I let you go, you could just follow me to the door and desync me with incap while I'm traveling through. If I hunt you down then I don't have to worry about it. If I don't get you I'm just back to square one of always expecting a gank. There's no benefit in giving a ganker a pass.

No..it's not..not really. I shouldn't have to slot something/create a specific build to counter ONE CLASS. That's just silly.

And there it is. Unwilling to use a counter and just complain and try to get nerfs. That’s all we need to hear. Remember that when you keep falling on ground.

Also free advice. you don’t want to use a slot or a set, do what the majority do. Have detect pots ready. Unless that is also asking too much.

its pvp zone why would you just walk away, pvpers go there to pvp. gankers try to instakill not just to be a pain but because they drop dead if you look at them, they sacrifice everything for more burst damage. its an actual build not just 'some jerk'
its like hey healer maybe chill out on healing its making things hard; no, heals going to heal its what their build does. its not unsportsman like to gank, its intended mechanics that exist in the game. dont like it, play a dk or necro with broken survivability.

Now lets remember to Pve'rs coming to Cyrodill or IC for the first time ever
    - check before entering that in your nameplate settings you have choose an alliance Indicators, so you can see the enemy easier - personally i choose enemy only. Easier to see them in middle of large battles)

    - do not stay afk even hidden (if the enemy has detection on, you will be dead when you return)

    - do not travel on the road, it is better to travel out of those, because when a group rush to a destination, most of the time they use the shortest way aka the road (not always though), so if you see them coming your way, pop your invisibility potion and hide. You can also alert your faction in the chat zone, so they know about the group coming)

    - If you go there to do some achievements, dolmens, and quests town : do not consider those a safe area. Always hide. Better get safe than have to run back.

    - Before entering Cyrodill or Imperial city
a)(put in bank your Tel var stones --remember that daily gift always give you some)
b)check about your potions and food -personally i always go there with a tri food stats, and invisibility potions (with quickness too)
c)if you start and this is your first time, dont take the shortcut and do the training quest. Not only you will get a better idea of the sieges items to use, but you will get a little amount of AP allowing you to open later the Continuous attack skill)

    - Ask in your guild what you should wear if going to do pvp for the first time. (If you are not in a guild, ask on the forums and do not be discouraged if some trolls jump on you on the forums. They are not fun but but at lest they dont bite:P)

Well there is probably a lot more to say, but at last with that in mind you are a little safe.

Good luck, and dont let the senior pvper or ganker get on your nerves. Remember its all for fun

Yes, PVPers got here to PVP, but not everyone is there to PVP. As shown by this latest event, and numerous leads, PVEer's are sometimes forced into going to IC or Cyro. These are the folks I'm talking about.

I hated the ganks back in viper heyday so much that I used all sorts of counters I didn't quite like. After I crutched on the direct counters, I found a utility or combo that worked almost the same. Curse and streaking to where a nb would be (bc I tried out a nb too) became my solution. There's also 10% damage mitigation on a direct counter skill to stealth available that I didn't have back then. I used to choose crushing shock over projectiles to deal with old dk wings. Good Ole days of class identity.

    Howdy!

I hate being ganked like everyone else. It happens to me often. Like a hobby.

    BUT

It is part of the game.

I am trying to put up an anti gank set.....Draugr's Heritage is not cutting it - I NEVER see any NBs get knocked down by it...

    Open to suggestions?

So - hate the player, not the game!

yes they are also who im talking about, If you go into a pvp zone you might have to pvp and cant expect to ask pvp players to not pvp in the pvp zone. there is no such thing as going to pvp zone not to pvp, sure maybe you dont want to but thats what is happening in the zone, its active pvp.
