I Suggest a Pinned Thread in the "General" Forum to Note New Policy of Moving Many Threads

I would strongly suggest on of the ZOS Mods create a pinned thread in the General Forum that will not the new policy of actively moving threads to different areas. This is a fairly recent different way of handling these forums in my experience in over 5 years of using them. Some threads did get moved in the past, but those were usually moved to the bug report forum (to usually die there).

It would be good to have a pinned reminder here that the policy is changed, encouraging users to look at more than just the General Forum. Some do, per my recent survey on the topic, but many do not.

I would add a suggestion to also use the "Recent" tab which I never used previously, even though it was there the whole time most likely.

This is why I only check recent discussions at this point.
My google search is favorited at "eso forums recent" xD.

I remember there always being some thread moving, though it does seem like the mods have made a more concerted effort to shuffle things into the appropriate subcategories recently.

And yes, Recent Discussions has been there for at least as long as I've been on the forums. I've enjoyed it, though one potential downside to note for new users is that it picks up PTS forum threads as well. I find it handy for keeping track of what's coming down the pipeline, but YMMV. Very spoiler-adverse players may not appreciate that feature.

Glad in some ways because it is easier to have a PvP discussion in the PvP section.

I've lurked here forever (been playing for years, but pretty new to using the forums). This forum is where I always came to find out if there were issues, and for information about upcoming events/situations; it's still my place to get that information.

I have little interest in other forums - sometimes I check bug reports or PC support though probably not more than once a quarter. I look at housing about the same amount, and that's pretty much it. Once a mod moves a post, I almost never look at it again.

Doesn't help that 60-70% of users only check general discussion.

If you do make a post on other forum areas your post usually dies quickly unfurtunaly.

Yes, if they absolutely must micromanage in this way, a little more information about it is the bare minimum they could do. To be honest, it's one of the main reasons I rarely come to the forums anymore, after years of being here every day.

meh some people don't like truth o sharing is caring lol.. some people like to keep it solo while some people like to have mor emulti player options in games.. some people hate seeing things in threads and forms in social media and other because they dont like that person ideas,, but its not just about them its about everyone's options and opinions on things..
we all need little equality and that goes for solo and group team work.. ques or even helping out for the multiplying people.. fac tis it would bring more players if people thing of both sides of coin ..

other issue sis people need to let people have own ideas.,. and not moan about them.. or say no to it because the fact is just because you don't like something some one else might something different .. people who are being put down leave games and dont come back some them do. and give in to the crpa other players but thing is some us are strong and some speak up and others dont like us for it
so they either try get them banned or kicked from the game..
really then that person its being victumised.. and outcasted for just having otions adn opinions on theres side of the story.. but others are allowed to control.. or solo the game naa.. some us like group activity and some dont iam fine with that,., iam just upset with the angry and mean people who try to look down on us and shame us

I'm glad they started moving threads because it made me more aware of the other forums and I now find myself checking them more often. I was missing out on a lot of good conversations just looking at general.

I'm not sure how much a pinned thread would stand out to me, but it may stand out more to others. I find the locked symbol really catches my attention and that's how I realized that threads were being moved.

I would question how many who read the forums are really "spoiler adverse". Perhaps a few, but I think that would be a small minority.

I will agree that a pinned thread would not be perfect, but it might help a bit.

The current behavior would have been better years ago, but now many/most are used to just reading "General" even if the other forums have been around for a while. I have had several threads moved that would have had discussion in the past, but they quickly died out in the other forum.

Unless that is the goal of course! (Just joking, I hope, on that!)

Considering that since High Isle launched I've seen at least two threads get asked by players to be good about putting potential spoilers in their title, and also considering that the PTS forums is generally pretty free with spoiler titles because people reasonably assume that anyone reading in that subforum is okay with spoilers, I though it worth mentioning.

Ah, I had not thought of that part. I have never focused on the PTS, so it didn't even come to mind.

It's not even as if this category has enough activity to warrant all those closing and moving of threads in the first place, let alone the willy-nilly, nitpicking ways in which threads are closed and moved. Threads that shouldn't be moved, get moved, and threads that should probably be moved, stay. It seems to be at a mere whim in most examples.

It is not a new policy. Just one that Zenimax had stopped doing for a while. It also seems fairly straightforward. If it concerns PvP it should be in a PvP section. If it concerns housing or player requesting help there are sections for that.

    Correct.
It just hasn't been enforced consistently. And it's mostly just one of the newer mods doing the bulk of the moving.

As part of this, I wish they'd implement some kind of measure to differentiate between PC and Console threads (which would require a new policy) because people aren't often very good about stating which platform they're on when they start rambling about an issue.
But knowing how weak Vanilla forum software is, there probably isn't a way to do it.

in that case every thread could arguably be moved out of General.

I think he's maybe not new. Many of the mods seem to have renamed themselves a couple of months back....
