The game crashes after I hit play in the launcher. I am running a Intel I7 920 in a Gigabyte EX58-UD5 with 6gb of ram with a ATI Radeon 4870x2 with the latest drivers it has supported.

Getting this as well. I would reinstall, however it seems that didn't fix it for others.

It started to do this on the last beta weekend and I have reinstalled it since then. Extremely frustrating.

I got the same problem, it happen in beta, but I think they will fix it. Now even at early access they still have the same problem.

Okay, So I am not the only one... I can get to the launch and even to play the cinematic but it crashed. I skipped the cine and went to directly loading but it crashed. I then decided to change the settings, it crashed half way through. Not sure what is happening. I re-installed the drivers for my vid card. (sigh)

If you are running into "ESO has stopped working" or "ESO has crashed unexpectedly" make sure you are running the game as an administrator.

You can do that by right clicking the launcher and clicking "Run as Administrator"

If that doesn't fix it, lets try editing the UserSettings.txt. The default location for that would be My Documents/The Elder Scrolls Online/Live

Open UserSettings.txt in Notepad and then locate the string SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D11" and change "D3D11" to "OpenGL"

You can hit Ctrl + F and paste in SET GraphicsDriver.7 to find the string easier.

After you've made that change Save and close Notepad and try launching the game again.

I solved my solution by avoiding the launcher and running the direct executable as a administrator. Hope this helps others.

This is for PC only it won't work for Mac.

Try launching direct from the Mac ESO client.

Check your addons. Even some up to date ones were causing me to crash on startup. I'd get to the character selection screen. Launch and crash with error 1. First all addons were updated and those out of date turned off. still crashed. Turned them ALL off and ESO started right up.
