Volcanic Vents and why can't I see the active indicator on the map?

Once in a while I see the active indicator on my map, but 90% of the time nothing shows no matter how long I search. Does anyone know why and how to fix this?

May have to do with where you are. You wont see anemos ones from high isle or vice versa just as you dont see dragon from tideholm

Also, if you hover over the icon, your cursor(?) pretty much covers the active lines and I think hovering also stops it from pulsing.

High isle has an issue as in the city the main island and the northern jungle is in kind of separate zones.
Think vents show up outside city but delve quest demand that you are on the correct island and not in city.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Vents are always visible, no matter if you are on High Isle or on Amenos and it doesn't matter if you are inside the city zone or not. However, two conditions must be met - you must be somewhere in trhe chapter zone and you absolutely must have discovered the vent location.

You can never see anything in an undiscovered location and you can't see active vents while you're at a wayshrine in a different zone.

Interesting. But, I've never seen those phenomena.
    My playing time Mon-Friday UTC13:00-16:00 [PC-NA] CP over2000 now.
    I have [1Tough tank] [1StamSorc-DD] [1Necro-DD] [1Real Healer]

But, I'm Tank main player. Recently I'm doing Healer.

This seems right. I never tried to find them outside of High Isles, but I still had issues, even after spending the time to ride all over and pick them all up. It may be that they don't spawn frequently enough.

I have seen this, but rarely. Yes, I was on the correct island and I had visited all of them.

means people people don't like doing group activity is being lost because hardly any group activity like final fantasy its truth .. people don't like truth .. we group people need speak up..
and people need to share and care about all people ,. there are solo players and solo content but hardly any group.. for dlves and other i think there should be group content for everything but not everything or some.. for delves or even trials.. they need it group ques..
we need ques for some things its would help and people who new to game like to do all the content people running ahead thinking they don't it all before and running it for all new players,., we are lower level and looking down on us like meh.. the thing is people need to listen or players need to be striped pof over powered stuff so we all equal orr... they should add level Duggen's 10 to 30... 30 to 50 and 100 champ to 160... sections to Duggen finder...

need ot have gourp and ques for roup and team work people and solo for the solo people fair is fair

I've not ever seen any active vent from my map. The only way I've been able to identify an active vent is to go by and look.

It's the same way with Dolmens and Geysers and Harrowstorms. Go around and discover them all then when a discovered one is active it will show up as active on the map.

They only show up active on the main map though. The mini map addon doesn't have this indicator.

    Exactly,
you must discover all, you must look at main map (better via "M" not in shrine) and High Isle and Amenos are different zones and you must check that islands separately <- its little bit annoying when you looking where are qest located...
    Really sorry for my english

Neither does the compass, I discovered today. Does anyone know if they spawn in a particular order, like the dolmens do?

The Vents spawn in a random order. I've even seen the same one spawn twice in a row.

They should be marked even if you haven't been there, since they are such a key part of the game.

Yes, you could argue against that for "realism" but this game is built on unrealism.

They have a special activity marker that "changes". I wasn't sure if this was in the game or an addon however.

I actually just had that happen. That's so not helpful, as it's really hard to get all over the place even with the wayshrines. Oh well.

I wonder if they did the random order to discourage the huge groups like they have in Alik'r.

^^^ This. You'll notice this with other world events, too-- dolmens, geysers, dragons, harrowstorms, etc. If you aren't in the actual zone while checking the map, you can see the static icon that marks their locations if you've discovered them (except dragons, which aren't static location icons), but you won't be able to see which ones are active (or where any dragons are) unless you're within the zone. I assume that's because of the instancing of zones, which means different locations might be active in different instances, so you must actually be in a specific instance of a zone to see the active world event locations for that zone instance.
