Ember - Gaining Rapport

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed Ember appears to gain rapport faster than Mirri or Bastian did?

With Mirri or Bastion you had to go off and actively complete specific tasks to gain an increase in their rapport. With Ember however, the tasks which gain her rapport seem to occur throughout normal game play. To put it another way, Ember increases rapport just by hanging out with you and going on adventures.

I think it's because she likes stealthy stuff, collecting runestones, helping civilians, etc. That's just standard eso adventurer things. Unless she's gaining rapport by also just gaining exp?

It's really because she's not such a pain in the behind about things like catching bugs or cheese.

I find Isobel reasonably fast too, with delves and bosses and whatnot. Things I do normally anyway. And I don't have to watch out about accidentally clicking a torchbug or butterfly.

Ember also really likes it when you kill wolves or durzogs.

Rapport to full with Ember was easy, leveling to 20 is painful. It seemed much easier with Mirri.

I went way faster with Isobel than Ember, lots of crafting and killing does the trick.

Ember is definitely the fastest to raise her rapport because she has 3 dailies to raise her rapport by 125 points each and they are all easy/fast missions. Daily delve in High Isle, daily public dungeon for mages guild, and daily thieves guild heist where she doesn't want stealth, but rather a bloodlust killer. That's 375 rapport points per day, compared to other companions stuck at 250 points or even 125 points. I finished her rapport before she hit level 10, compared to all other companions where I finished them long after they hit level 20.

Ember has three different dailies that get you 125 rapport, Isobel and Mirri have two, Bastian only one. Plus, as everyone else has noticed, more minor ones that are likely to happen anyway. But she doesn’t like fishing, and is unimpressed by antiquities and collections, or Psijic portals, where you are distracted by the benefits to the player character. You are more likely to notice Ember gaining rapport, so it appears that she gets more.

On the downside, being a poor thief really drops it fast.

Instead of gaining i'd like a fast way of losing rapport on her to see what her mood will become. It's easy on Isobel with killing and robbing NPC's but sadly that's not working for Ember.

    For those interested:
Isobel at 0/5000 rapport - "Isobel isn't angry, just disappointed."
Isobel at -2500/5000 - "Isobel is deprecating your lifestyle."

It's hard to get her to -5000/5000 at that point as she always runs away when a major decrease happens and won't come back for some time.
I'm but a sarcastic beef jerky. Irony and cynicism are my parents. You've been warned.

Mirri and Bastion got rapport boosts from reading books which are all over the place. I think that helps quite a bit.

I've already gotten Ember to two of her quests after her initial one to unlock her because her rapport goes so quickly, with Isobel I've only gotten one.

Leveling is just about companions getting a fixed percentage of the XP you earn, so the more XP you earn the faster they level. If Miri felt faster maybe you leveled her while you had some kind of XP boost, either form a scroll or event or both.

I do think that both Ember and Isobel are better at gaining rapport compared to Bastian and Miri.

bastion was by far the slowest to get rapport as he only has 1 source of +125 rapport (total gain 125 per day)

mirri was similar (as long as the ashlander daily worked) then she had 2 sources of +125 rapport (total gain 125-250 per day)

isobel has at least 2 sources of +125 rapport (1 of the high isle WB dailies appears to be bugged and not counting) (total gain 125-250 per day)

ember has 3 sources of +125 rapport (total gain 375 per day)

the other advantage that isobel and ember have is that they have 3 companion quests compared to 2 for bastion/mirri (each companion quest is +500 rapport which is a good chunk of the way to the next one)

mirri/bastion have 1000 rapport in total from their 2 quests
ember/isobel have 1500 rapport in total from their 3 quests

so ember having 1500 rapport from 3 quests and being able to gain 375 per day, i think you only needed about 1200 or so between ranks when you had to do the quests (so you could do a companion quest with her roughly every 2-3 days), and after you finished the 3rd quest you only needed a few more days to hit max rank
    plays PC/NA

    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (fully filled out with current game), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

in progress: acquiring mundus stones (currently only have the thief)

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

Is psijic portals rapport still a thing? I'm on PS5 and haven't gotten any rapport on Batian or Mirri (still trying to level them ughhh) for months and months.

Yes, you get good rapport for Bastian if you loot psijic portals.

Her only advantage is that she has 3 X 125 rapport dailies instead of 2 like the others: High Isle delve. Mages guild and Thieves guild heist dailies, although that third one is still bugged and you only get the 125 if you do the heist without the time bonus - you have to fail that bonus deliberately to get the +125.

All of her other casual gains while you just play are not any more than what the others get casually.

if anything Isobel is the one with more of those casual perks since she can get +10 for talking to Lyris, +10 for talking to Emeric, +5 for talking to Ayren, + 5 for crafting anything with blacksmithing and + 5 for crafting a sweet edible, and those can be done several times per day. You can get close to 300 points per day with those if you just know where to find Ayren, Emeric and Lyris and take the time to do the crafting she likes.

I actually maxed her raport to 5500 faster than I did with Ember.

It depends on your gameplay! They all gain differently during different normal gameplay. If your active companion is a good fit for YOUR normal ganeplay then this will happen :)

Yes, note it only xp from kills, not quests or stuff like closing dolmens.

Solo or duo nDSA works nice
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Hmmm I haven't gotten any with him for a long time. Thanks for letting me know it's still meant to be a thing.

I noticed that I also got additional rapport from Ember for repeating the same action right after the first, though it might have been a glitch as I haven't been able to repeat it. (I think it was for opening thieves' troves.)

I had been wondering about the High Isle daily delve. It was the first time I ever saw a yellow rapport notification. I couldn't figure out what it was she liked about it. (It was the one to destroy the House Dufort crates that went astray.)

Disappointed that she likes killing wolves. :(
